Get well vibes to gigs and sweetest. Hope you both get antibiotics and get rid of the infections.

Good luck for your prechemo bloods topsy. My prechemo bloods are Tuesday but my nurse phoned to see how I was and she is going to speak to the stand in doctor to see if my chemo needs to be delayed because of my antibiotics. I also may not have any steroid in my syringe driver as it interacts with the Clexane.

I am also fretting that due to me having a clot, I may not be able to have Tamoxifen. I will speak to my onc when he is back from sick leave.

A friend of mine does the Marie Curie coffee morning but she has loads of friends. It is a really good idea. I may have one at work when i go back.

Figgyroll · 29/07/2012 17:13

My friend Jan organises a coffee morning every other year, KK. She bakes loads of yummy cakes in advance (and friends chip in too). She has to borrow extra cups and saucers and, if the weather's likely to be nice, extra garden chairs too. She has a raffle (the village shops all donate a prize), usually a 'guess the weight' of a cake or 'guess how many' jelly beans in a jar. She also asks friends to donate books that are in good condition and has a 'book sale' table. She puts little A5 sized posters up all over the place and always has a good turn out. I'm thinking of giving it a go too because she's not doing one this year but feel I have a lot to live up to.

Gigondas · 29/07/2012 17:55

Am in and settled now- seems some sort of Gastric bug which is odd as no other signs really.

topsy I will have some tarte. Let me know what the help is like as I loved the book.

I do miss the little gigs but not sure hospital best place for them (ESP as its a reasonable trip in) and big gig has a very low boredom threshold (think what does this button do) in a hospital room.Grin

Gigondas · 29/07/2012 17:56

That sounds great Figgy - I was thinking of doing one but think its chemo week. May do it another time with school mums.

smee · 29/07/2012 18:49

Gig, big damn for being back in hospital. And another for Sweetness and her infection. Sad

Kurri, didn't MAS do a coffee morning a year or so ago?? I seem to remember delicious pictures.

Waving to all, no time, but am dropping by from my new vocation as B&B-in-chief-to-the-Olympics, to cheer Ned over the finish line tomorrow. Last Rads (I think?!). GO NED !! Smile Smile

KurriotsOfFire · 29/07/2012 19:25

Gastric bug sounds unpleasant Gig, - but perhaps no symptoms will appear as they were on to it quickly.

Hope your eye clears up soon Sweetest, - you don't need an infection to deal with while you are still healing. And gracie hope you are feeling better soon and things don't get too delayed. Tamoxifen might be off the cards with your clot, but they will be able to find you another equally effective drug I'm sure.

Book sale and raffle are great ideas Figgy - I shall definitely nick them if you don't mind Smile I'm sure I could rope in several friends to help, with it all, I think MAS did the BCC one Smee - so I'm sure she will have a few tips too. If it's a nice sunny day, it would be fun to do I think (and I am on the same road as the local primary school, so I could run out and grab all the mums after they've dropped their children off Grin)

Oh yes last rads for Ned - well done that girl Grin and Yaaay - and hopefully you are carting home an enormous fish at this very moment!

MaryAnnSingleton · 29/07/2012 20:05

Day on the beach -morning lovely-lunch at cafe and ice cream in the car while it rained then back for a walk along the beach and have just returned from village pub whee we had an aperitif (Suffolk cider for me)
So sorry about return to hospital Gig - hope you'll have some time with family though. Eek about eye infection Sweetest
I did a Strawberry TEa for Breast CAncer Care 2 years ago - I invited loads of friends on a Sat afternoon and there were masses of cupcakes and regular and mini cheese scones. I did a tombola as I asked lots of crafts people on Folksy for donations and a Guess the weight of the cat competition using my mum's then very plump cat.
I could donate a picture or something for a raffle if you liked Kk Grin

When they re admitted me after my reduction surgery and kept me in for 2 weeks , they said that aswell as the wound infection I had a chest infection too .
I didn't have so much as a cough !
But the bacteriologists are bloody good and they can spot things brewing .
So definitely a good idea for them to knock it on the head now , rather than let you get sick then treat you .

But it's horrid being in hospital isn't it ?
What hossie do they have you in ?

Mas the holiday sounds great , just what you all need .

I'm off to bed now as I have to get up and moving early (for me !) for the hospital in the morning .

Night night all x

topsyturner · 29/07/2012 22:04

And good luck for last rads tomorrow Ned x

jchocchip · 30/07/2012 06:29

Hurray for last rads, ned

:( for gig being in hospital.
My scan went ok on Saturday, obv not got the results as yet but the ultrasound lady said she had not picked up anything sinister...
Must get up and tootle off to work. Hope you all have a good day.

Gigondas · 30/07/2012 06:37

Yay for ned last rads!
That is good re ultrasound jchoc

topsy I agree that better here although don't like being in (kind as they are). My temp went up again last night (so they gave me that good old super drug paracetamol Wink which did work well) and do have slightly upset tummy. feel washed out ( as woken by mr chat next door who had visitors til half ten and then checks / drugs in night).

I may not get out of my pyjamas today Wink

Gigondas · 30/07/2012 06:37

Good vibes for tests today topsy

topsyturner · 30/07/2012 07:51

That sounds positive Jchoc , when do you get the full results ?

Gig it's the law , you have to wear your pjs all day when in hospital !
If you attempt to get dressed , Matron will come round and shout at you Grin

Am taking DD to hospital with me today and for tomorrows chemo .
She has promised not to talk incessantly or press any buttons .
All I can think is thank goodness there are no life support machines in chemo lounge ...
Grin

Gigondas · 30/07/2012 08:00

Grin at dd topsy.

I do have a friend whose son did press buttons when his grandma was in hospital - needless to say they were very paranoid about visits from then on in Wink

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/07/2012 08:34

Last rads for Ned !!!
Sounds good about scan Jane - glad it's done
I'd stay in pyjamas all day too Gig Smile
Off to Southwold today- beach and pottering

OP posts:
topsyturner · 30/07/2012 08:38

My friend is coming with us now , so she can duct tape DDs fingers together to prevent any tampering Grin

Am getting a little nervous about getting ct results .
Worried that all the delay in starting chemo will have meant things may have spread .
You always know if it's good or bad news by who you see .
Registrar for good news , consultant if it's bad !

topsyturner · 30/07/2012 08:39

Hope the weather stays good for your beach pottering Mas !

Gigondas · 30/07/2012 08:45

Loads of positive vibes for ct results. Don't forget only just started this round so still time for some change to be registered.

Laetissimus · 30/07/2012 09:15

A very nervous timid hello to all you brave people on here.
Feeling a bit down and tearful so have decided to post -
I have been reading & following since my first doc appt on 26th June
(Referred me to a specialist as I had nipple discharge)
Saw specialist who sent me for a mammogram ( I am 42 )
I felt as though I should know what to expect - was left waiting for results in post and what arrived was an appointment for an ultrasound 'as the radiologist needed further images before they could produce their report'. - Again left waiting for results when another letter arrived on Saturday 'You have dilated ducts within the outer left breast which could be causing your nipple discharge, due to the density of your breasts they have suggested we organise an MRI Scan as this is especially good at looking at dense breasts'...............
Sad
Reading all your posts I feel somewhat a fraud as I do not yet know what is wrong with me but you all sound so lovely -
Shaking as I type - x laetissimus x

topsyturner · 30/07/2012 09:55

Hi Laetissimus and welcome .
Don't be nervous about posting here , anything goes !

Waiting for test results is the very worst part of this bastard thing .
So stick around and we will do some hand holding for you .

Sometimesiwonder · 30/07/2012 10:58

Hi Lateissimus - welcome to our sanity-saving thread! It is a total sod waiting for test results, so ask us anything you want, eat your fill at the FBS trolley and try to keep breathing calmly. One step at a time. x

KK - your clever dd!

MAS - have a lovely holiday - Walberswick is lovely - even though I couldn't catch any crabs but then I can never catch any anywhere

Gig - hope you are on the mend.

I've just put dd into a week of theatre school in the town centre: well, she gets to come home in the evenings, obviously. I am very nervous on her behalf, but she made two new friends while they were all waiting to go in so hopefully she will have a good time. On Friday we get to go and watch them act something - the school Xmas plays are usually a bit pants to be honest, so I am looking forward to seeing what she will do at a proper theatre Grin

smee · 30/07/2012 11:04

Grin at Topsy's DD. Thinking of you today then. My money's on no spread, but will keep everything crossed. xx

Gig, sounds like you might be stuck there today as well?? PJ's/ iPod sounds like a good combo to me to ward off Mr Chatty.

Jane, scan news sounds good. I don't think they say anything unless they're sure. Smile

MAS, Southwold's fab. Have a lovely time pottering. Smile

Hello Laetissimus, do you know when your MRI is yet? Waiting's horrid, so I hope it's soon. Sounds to me like they're just being incredibly thorough, which is good. I'd bet in a week or so, you'll be smiling, but mean time stick with us. And definitely no need to be brave here. I was a gibbering wreck when I was waiting for results, so feel free to gibber! Smile

smee · 30/07/2012 11:05

x-posted, but Sometimes, am cheering your brave and daring DD. Some of DS's friends did similar last week and had a fantastic time. DS wasn't into it, but maybe next year..

topsyturner · 30/07/2012 11:26

Am in waiting room .
Gibbering ...

Gigondas · 30/07/2012 11:31

Am sending you hand holds, lots of luck and thinking of you topsy
