Been at my own pre-op for my back so haven't read much - will catch up a bit later.

amberlight · 30/04/2012 12:53

connect.innovateuk.org/web/nanoktn/articles/-/blogs/targeted-nanoparticles-show-success-in-clinical-trials;jsessionid=4E473195707B44CF82DFB32A3074D68F.9OphEwv4 is the article about how they are targeting breast cancer far more effectively in the trials..

Gig, have a hug. Anyone else for one?

graciesmall09 · 30/04/2012 13:12

My super slightly large posterior is now firmly sitting on the paranoia box for everyone. Hugs to you all.

oneineight We have told both schools and they have been fab. Hopefully when she comes home today and sees me just as she left me it will calm her a little. You just want to protect them from everything and unfortunately you can't hide this. Hope you boys have a fab time at the residential.

Off to read your link now amber sounds interesting.

SparkleRainbow · 30/04/2012 13:19

Oh Gig, I will join amber in the hug giving. I am so sorry you are having a rough time today. I am glad your mum can come over I hope it helps.

Sometimes - I hope the pre op appt went well. Do you have a date yet?

Topsy - honey, am thinking of you, and following sometimes' lead I too have lit my special candle for you.

SparkleRainbow · 30/04/2012 13:23

Figgy - I sent dh out to get me maternity bras after my surgery,Grin they were a godsend.

LimeJellyforBrains · 30/04/2012 13:46

Just popping in to hug Topsy, Gig and Amber.

Topsy I agree with the others - you are doing so well, am sure things are not as bad as you fear. As Amber shows, new treatments are being discovered all the time, too! x

Gig so glad your mum can come to help. Take it as easy as you can x

Amber I had a portacath - the removal was truly much quicker and easier than the insertion. I remember I drove myself half hour to radio, then about another half an hour to another hospital to have portacath taken out, then drove over an hour home through heavy traffic and rain through Watford, and all with DS2 (8) with me as he was off school (think it was a strike day)! Think I just had a local, and either no or very light sedative (told them I was driving afterwards). There was a bit of pulling/pushing, but reallyit was fine. I very much hope it will be for you, too. I know any hospital visit/procedure is more of an ordeal for you - very best and warmest wishes x

Sometimesiwonder · 30/04/2012 14:06

Hi Sparkles - no, no date yet, could be several weeks. But they have confirmed that it is definitely on (had been cancelled by the PCT owing to lack of cash, but now reinstated on appeal by surgeon). Noticed my BMI is still crap though, despite the weight I have lost Sad

What fun we all had trying to find a non-chemo zapped vein Grin

Hugs to everyone feeling under the cosh today.

SparkleRainbow · 30/04/2012 14:12

But some weight lost is a good thing, don't lose sight of that....BMI measurements are the work of the devil.....oo that could be a new name for me!

My candle is burning away.

Must go and find dd2, has all gone quiet so I suspect she has fallen asleep watching cbeebies.

topsyturner · 30/04/2012 14:13

Am here (ridiculously early , thanks DH) and waiting . As usual clinic is full to overflowing !

Think I might be sick .

Thanks for all the positive thoughts and candle burning .
Will update you all when I know summat .

Sometimesiwonder · 30/04/2012 14:19
Grin

Hope it isn't too long to wait.

smee · 30/04/2012 14:28

Skids back in time for Topsy. Am holding your hand right now if you're reading. xx

SparkleRainbow · 30/04/2012 14:32

Grin @ podcast...that should really scare the consultant! We are here for you Topsy.

jchocchip · 30/04/2012 14:37

«candle for topsy»

SparkleRainbow · 30/04/2012 14:38

Sometimesiwonder · 30/04/2012 14:44

Eating DH's birthday cake to distract myself.....

Did you know Thai food is extremely low fat??? Official! At least that's what a Thai bloke told me while I was pigging out in his restaurant on Saturday, which makes me feel quite virtuous if you don't count the champagne

Sometimesiwonder · 30/04/2012 14:50

No, Distraction not working....

SparkleRainbow · 30/04/2012 15:00

I love Thai food.....maybe I need to cook more thai then. there was a great pub in cambridge which did real ale and authentic Thai food, cooked by English landlord's Thai wife. Ahh those were the days, mind you in those days, low fat was not something I needed to stress over. I was 5'8, blonde and a size 10!

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/04/2012 15:00

me and Celeste are balanced on our chair thinking of topsy

OP posts:
Gigondas · 30/04/2012 15:00

Topsy - hand holding and positive thoughts here too

Sometimesiwonder · 30/04/2012 15:02

Envy have never been either 5'8 or blonde. Have been a size 10 though. Even a size 8 for a brief, heady period

Sometimesiwonder · 30/04/2012 15:03

Cross post. Me too - feel like a coiled spring. Hoping for news after the school run.....

graciesmall09 · 30/04/2012 15:06

More hand holding here Topsy. Positive thoughts winging across the city.
