Hello ladies, - just taking the plastic wrapper off a brand new thread Smile

OP posts:
OneInEight · 14/03/2012 14:01

Back from hospital - epirubicin aggravating my veins - but not thought to be of concern. Panic abatted and so quick I wasn't even charged for car parking!

Smee - Quest is a tv channel where they seem to show an endless supply of films showing construction projects. Luckily, my boys have never got into Beast Quest - they are addicted to Harry Potter at the moment - as soon as they finish the series they start again at the beginning.

smee · 14/03/2012 14:05

Blimey Eight, Quest sounds dire. Am glad we've only got Freeview channels! That vein thing sounds familiar now you've mentioned it. Mine went black, which is never a good look, but it's also apparently normal. Least you're through the last Epirubicin now.

Ned, am willing you a quick chemo. Hope they sort the anti-sickness this time for you. xx

KurriKurri · 14/03/2012 14:34

Afternoon all, good luck Ned - think I've just missed you but good vibes for a quick chemo. Smile

Thinking of l4k xx

Sparkle - you are probably also off on your travels - hope you fit everything in and get back in good time fr the concert.

Eight - I found epi. hell on my veins - very painful - - they told me to rub ibuprofen gel into my arm. Not sure it did a great deal to help, but anything's worth a go!

Gig - colic's a bugger, my DS was a very colicky baby - it stopped when he went onto solids if that's any consolation, but that was i the old days when if you baby cried the HV said give them solids at 3 months (now of course I feel guilty about that. Hey ho.) Hope you can find something that will help settle her.

Probably - crisps tick. internet crap tick. - you are filling all the boxes for this thread Grin and great that you've offered to clean everyone's house Grin - mine is beyond disgusting in need of a bit of a dust.

Aches in arms/ breasts - I get a lot of aching and pains in my scar - feels most odd, I think scar tissue, but also possibly a bit of nerve pain too, from the ops.

topsy - hope your DS enjoys his outing. And LJ's DS too has a good trip.

Well done on the work Sometimes - you are much in demand atm Smile

Progress at last for me, phone went this morning and it was my endocrinologist. She said is that K? and I said yes to which she immediately said 'you poor poor thing you must feel like absolute hell a the moment, I've faxed a prescription through for you to start straight away' so that's a relief, I was beginning to think I was somehow imagining things, and its quite a high dose, so I must have been fairly low. Phew - should start to feel better soon.

On the down side, I've had a letter form the hospital with an appointment in Mr Knobby's clinic in April. So I had to ring his secretary and say 'I saw Mr Knobby on Friday, I don't want to see him again' So persuaded them to cancel, but I insisted they check that I had been referred through to plastics and there wasn't another giant cock up going on. The admin. at the hospital is atrocious.

Waving to all, - I have no idea who Auntie Mabel is, she sounds annoying though! Grin

OP posts:
Sometimesiwonder · 14/03/2012 14:51

I am so glad you have medication at last KK the endocrinologist sounds lovely. Not so Mr Knobby, I am glad you have dumped him. Smile

Auntie Mabel was also Nurse Gladys Emmanuel from 'Open All Hours' in a previous incarnation . As Auntie Mabel she decides on a whim to go and find out how something random is made (pencils, bricks, wellie boots) then go 'Let's Fly' and jumps into a spotty plane with a hairy dog. To be fair, Pippin was pretty cute.

topsyturner · 14/03/2012 15:16

Is probably offering to clean all our houses ?
Awful decent of you .
My house is presently decorated with pig/dog fur and pig/dog window nose art Grin

My veins are knackered from the FEC . DH told the nurse to find a vein inbetween my toes last time . They are all lumpy and discoloured

Finished DDs parent/teacher conference . Teacher happy with everything . DD top of class in all assessments .
Teacher did comment on the fact that DD is exceptionally good at anything that involves a stage . Am thinking pole dancing may feature in her future ... Grin Blush

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/03/2012 15:25

she might become an actress topsy ! well done to her Grin
Hooray for prescription kk and that you aren't having to see Mr Knobby Smile
sometimes forgot to say WELL DONE for new work- exciting !
Hope ned is getting on ok. And 14k
DH has a sinus type thing- poor love.
Am drawing and whatnot until piano lesson time- very sleepy, despite huge caffeine intake.

Sometimesiwonder · 14/03/2012 15:51

Thanks! Grin

Know the feeling, I could sleep for a week.

poor DH, MAS. DD has one of those - again. Think it must be about her 5th since Christmas Angry

Clever Topsy Junior, the world is at her feet.

No, Topsy, Probably was going to clean all our houses but she's decided to muck about on here with us instead. So much better for her.

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/03/2012 16:29

aw, my dad has emailed to say he's joined the local concert band with his oboe - am thrilled for him as he'll love it (he not been learning long,he says it's a really difficult instrument - he already plays the flute so I imagine that might help !) I'm hoping it'll get him away from being stuck with mum all the time (that sounds awful) Am slightly upset that she didn't come to the recital on Monday -didn't push it with dad -but think he finds her unwillingness to do stuff/go out very difficult.

l4k · 14/03/2012 16:36

Will be back later to explain but all ok. No need for biopsy. Such a relief. Thank you all for support. Xxxxxxxxxxxx

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/03/2012 16:46

that's fantastic news 14k well done !!!! xxx

KurriKurri · 14/03/2012 17:15

Very relieved for you l4k -SmileSmile so glad it is over and things have gone well Smile

MAS - it's lovely your dad has joined a band - I hope he gets a lot of fun out of it Smile I is very tough on partners when their other halves are unwilling or unable to go out, especially for naturally sociable people.

topsy - well done your DD, sounds like she's doing brilliantly Smile

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 14/03/2012 17:15

it is very tough

OP posts:
LimeJellyforBrains · 14/03/2012 17:24

l4k that is brilliant I'm so glad for you! Smile

Ned hope chemo goes smoothly today and you get good drugs to take home. Your lunch sounds so scrummy I'm going to have to buy avocado for mine tomorrow!

MAS how lovely about your dad learning the oboe and joining a band. My mum was always frustrated by my dad's lack of need/desire to go out more. Worse still, he was the only driver and now he's gone she gets out even less Sad. Your lad's singing was lovely by the way, and I'm really enjoying seeing all the 'pretty things' you link to on fb Smile

topsy your dd sounds as clever and lively as her dear mama x

Kurri hope the meds give you some relief from your thyroid symptoms pronto. Did you find it hard not to call Mr Knobby by that name? I know I would! Grin But how could you turn down a chance to be patronised and ignored by him again?

Sometimes well done you on the work piling in - you must be doing something right Smile

Hope Sparkle got there and back safely x

The trip with DS2's year was yesterday Smee and thank goodness I wore my trainers - we walked miles trying to find wooden posts with letters on dotted around a huge country park. And it was a race so I ended up running part of the way Shock! Well lumbering would be a better word... Foot so much better than it was, couldn't have done this even a few weeks ago, although when I got up from the table after dinner last night I thought the other ankle was going to break into pieces! Hobbling slightly today but not too bad. I am very encouraged Smile

probablyveryunreasonable · 14/03/2012 17:26

yay l4k Smile

LimeJellyforBrains · 14/03/2012 17:32

Oops sorry I meant to say Hello and Welcome to probably as well. You couldn't do your waiting in a nicer place Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/03/2012 17:52

Well done LJ !!

NedSchneebly · 14/03/2012 17:57

I'm back! And feeling not too bad! Emend is my new best friend. Oncologist very sympathetic, and said it was definitely not right that I had felt lousy for so many days. Got 3 days of Emend, and then lots of metoclopramide if still feeling rotten after. So far, so good! In and out and 3 hours, so better time than last time. And I didn't cry, either!

Yay kurri Your endocrinologist is a star. Glad you've got some good drugs. Definitely not a good idea to see dr knobber again. . .

Yay for miss topsy excellent results from parents evening - you must be super proud! Had parents evening for DS yesterday and managed to convince teacher that DS is actually quite good at Maths stuff, and a sheet with count the dinosaurs was not really going to challenge him, particularly since he had done the same sheet in October and got it all right then Hmm anyway, she has agreed that he can do Maths with the year 1s in his class (mixed age class) to challenge him a bit.

Yay 14k to no biopsy! Waiting with baited breath to hear all soon.

probably hope you are OK today x x

lime well done on the school trip! Sounds like you had a good time.

sometimes well done on more work. Sounds like everyone wants you!

Waves to smee, MAS, sparkle anyone else around this evening!

KurriKurri · 14/03/2012 18:22

Well done LJ - sounds a bit of a marathon, (racing? - what's that? Grin) but good that your foot held up well.

Yes it was hard not to call Mr Knobby by his new name, I only just managed it. Worse, today I met a retired nurse who used to work with him, I was about to say 'he's quite the knob isn't he?' when she said 'he's very pleasant, and always wears remarkable shoes Confused' - there can't be two Knobbies in the same hospital surely? I said I'd never noticed his shoes

Ned hooray for another chemo done, and great you don't feel too yuk and rugs are helping, - long may it continue. Your oncologist sounds very nice - always a bonus Smile

Off out tonight to a talk for women waiting for reconstruction - it's by a psychologist -it sounds interesting.

thenightisyoung · 14/03/2012 18:50

Hi there, just trying to catch up on everyone's news. I've been working from home so I'm deperately trying to stay away from the home computer as it's a big distraction and I'm seem to be working at half pace anyway - my brain seems to have gone to sleep while I've been off work.

I picked up my DS from uni at the weekend for the Easter holidays and it's lovely to have him around despite the soggy towels on the bathroom floor :)

I got bloods taken at the hospital on Friday so that I get the results at my next follow-up on the 26th. I keep having to tell myself that the blood tests don't make any difference to whether or not there is anything wrong with me. It just means that if there is then I'll know sooner and hopefully any treatment wold be more effective. Sorry for drivelling on - this is the first of any sort of test that I've had since the post-op histology results and I'm trying to stay calm about the results.

Hope everyone here is ok or as ok as they can be x

holstenlips · 14/03/2012 19:04

Have a bit of post work brain fog tonight so just quickly popping in to say thanks all, for responding to my wobble! And I'm ok, I think maybe too over sensitive..just a very throwaway comment from Mr holsten sent me off..and he didn't mean anything by it..he's a man, has possible tendency to put foot in mouth...he is lovely, you are all right. So am pulling self together. And it is relatively new rel, and only just able to do anything much physically due to surgery. Think I'm trying too hard, over compensating (or trying to) so I need to stop and take a breath.

Had occ health at work today, staying on reduced hours til after Easter. I'm happy with that.

Well done great news to 14k, Kurri glad u somewhat sorted, and Ned high 5 for today done and dusted.
MAS, is there no end to the family talents? Im jealous!

Hope everyone else all ok. No fbs here, anyone got any up for grabs? X

Gigondas · 14/03/2012 20:16

Galaxy ripple if anyone is keen.

smee · 14/03/2012 20:21

Hip-hip hooray. Am so pleased. Smile Smile

And Hooray for Kurri and her lovely Endocrin woman. About bloody time though. Here's hoping the pills work fast!

Sometimes, I must have missed your new work post. You are extraordinary the way it keeps coming in. Hope this one will be stress free and buy you lots of treats. Smile

Ned, so glad you're home and that your Onc's on the case. Two done now. That's a good chunk through. Keep taking the drugs and ward off the sickness. Smile

MAS, must be tough for your dad if your mother's going increasingly into her shell. Good for him for getting out there though. Does she mind him going out, or is she okay with it? Hope the latter.

Topsy, your kids are both so clever. Most impressive! Wonder what they'd say about PigDog if he had a parent evening..! Grin

LJ, that's good news about the foot. Sounds like a fun day out too. My DS is on a trip tomorrow, but I've got too much work to go which is a shame. i can't quite work out where they're going. DH signed the consent form, so I didn't see the letter, but apparently they're going to a garden to make pizza. Confused

Hello again thenightisyoung. Waiting is horrid, poor you. 26th's not long away now though. Stick with us and let us distract you. Smile

Waving to foggy Holstein - am piling pretzels onto the fb trolley for you for they are healthy but not in the ginormous amounts I scoff Grin

Hoping Sparkle managed her cross country sprint.

Probably, hope you're okay tonight too.

Pennies, still thinking of you. Really hope you're okay and not feeling too sore. Rest up and let us know when you can. x

waving to all others - so many people to post to atm. Have a good night all xx

smee · 14/03/2012 20:21

ooh x-posted with Gig
