Hello ladies, - just taking the plastic wrapper off a brand new thread Smile

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 10/03/2012 18:04

oh poor little ds 14k Sad hope tonight is better.
Have missed out on the sunshine as working - and dh watching rugby- ds drawing something.

smee · 10/03/2012 18:24

l4k, really hope the croup gets better soon. Must be horrible to hear DS cough like that. Sad

Amber, having the machine attached must be annoying, but your hill stomping deserves a round of applause. When do you see them again? Is it Monday?

Envy at Gig in Paris, though am liking the French fbs. Smile

Ned, my DS was the same age as yours when I was diagnosed. I used to just smile and say I have to to take some medicine which has made my hair fall out. Not one child ever seemed phased, or asked more. They just seem to accept facts somehow.

MAS, my zine arrived today. Have had to hide it from DS. I love the way you've summarised Mindfulness. Very clever. Drawings are witty and vibrant. Quite cheered me up. Smile

Waving to all I've missed including Topsy, Figgy, Jane and Shock at Lime for her frog-orgy. Grin

Better go as DH and I are off out in a bit for a rare drink together. Got DS's favourite teen coming round to be with him, so we're just back from Sainsburys with Pizza and Ice Cream for them. Treats all round in smee-land. Smile

jchocchip · 10/03/2012 18:41

frog orgy! don't tell my cat, he will be bringing them into play under my bed....

Oh dear amber, but well done at the walk. Hope they manage to sort you out soon.

Enjoy your grown up night out smee :) Wine hic!

KurriKurri · 10/03/2012 18:45

Have a lovely night out Smee Smile Oh you got MAS mindfulness zine too Smile - I love mine - says everything it needs to in very few words. Well done MAS - you are so clever - but we all knew that anyway Smile

14k - poor little DS - I hope he and you get a better night tonight. Now that others have said it, I remember my dsis being given the same steamy room advice when her little one had croup. Good luck,

LJ - poor dead lady frog Sad. We have got some in our pond too, and there are several threesomes going on there that I can see - the males (I assume it is the males) sit with just their heads poking out of the water, croaking incredibly loudly. It is actually really fascinating, but as you say - quite brutal I think.

DH is watching rugby, - there seems to be someone with a double barreled name playing for Scotland - he's called Fucking-Cussiter Grin

I hand the monitor thingy back on Monday but I don't think I see the specialist immediately - depends what he finds and when he tells me to go see him.

Smee, enjoy that rare drink!!

MaryAnnSingleton · 10/03/2012 19:54

have a lovely time out smee !
Glad you and kk like the zine - I did some meditation just now and was imagining breathing down into my tail...
Sausage and mash for supper -yum ! though ds doesn't like mash so he's having home made potato wedges

holstenlips · 10/03/2012 20:12

14k, really hope your DS and you have a better night, my dd has had croup and its just horrible to watch them cough and struggle so much. I spent a whole night once boiling the kettle and supervising it over and over to try to make room steamy. I also recall that putting a wet towel on the radiator to dry was suggested. All good wishes to you.
Gig can you grab me some French doughnuts, think they r called baignet (so?) They will bring back happy childhood holiday memories!
MAS I'm going to purchase your mindfulness book once I can get on my laptop. I love your illustrations, comical and sweet.
Hope all ok, enjoying vino or fbs and a good weekend. I walked 13 miles today for my moonwalk training, can't feel my feet! I'm taking dd on the train to seaside tomorrow, can't wait. She will b happy to sit and throw stones in the sea!

jchocchip · 10/03/2012 20:14

watching a repeat of doc martin ...
I nearly ate some chocolate today, but remembered just in time. Had a 99 from the ice cream man but dh was happy to eat the flake for me. :)

KurriKurri · 10/03/2012 20:16

Just put a nice picture of my son up on my profile if anyone wants a gander Smile

OP posts:
holstenlips · 10/03/2012 21:42

Ahh he looks like a nice chap KK

MaryAnnSingleton · 10/03/2012 22:41

aw,yes- he does look a very nice young man Smile
holsten alas all my little zines are sold out ! there will be new ones coming, once I get a moment -am a bit inundated with stuff at the mo
jane well done for not eating the flake !

jchocchip · 11/03/2012 06:50

Aargh just lost my post!
Take 2:
kk super picture :)
Holsten have a lovely day at the seaside .

mas well done at your sell out zine, I thought it looked interesting and like the fb pic of the cat reading it :)

Ate too much yesterday and remembered I didn't log that ice cream :( Will try and go for a run and a swim soon.

NedSchneebly · 11/03/2012 07:38

Grin at fucking-cussiter kurri !!!! mr kurri getting a little worked up then?! You DS is a very handsome young man (and your DD looks lovely too!)

holsten 13 miles? Wow, a great walk indeed! Well done you. Rest those weary feet! Hope weather nice for your seaside trip.

How's family gig? Hope another good night had by all.

14k was thinking of your DS in the night- any sign of improvement? Hope you're bearing up OK.

Am admiring the self restraint with the flake jchoc ! Well done to mr jchoc for helping you out with that one Grin

smee hope you enjoyed evening out. DH took me out for supper last night, which was lovely. Had lobster as a treat!

MAS well done on the zines selling out - you must be so pleased.

My scalp is still quite sore, feels a bit like sunburn, although its not red or anything. Any ideas? Should I be moisturising or just leave alone? Hair not all completely gone, but rapidly departing. . .

Waves at others this morning. Brew anyone?

Figgyroll · 11/03/2012 08:45

Morning everyone. Thanks for the Brew Ned. I've got boring Weetabix and toast on the go.

I had a very tender scalp while my hair was coming out. It even hurt when there was a slight breeze. I didn't do anything to alleviate it apart from gently massaging it in the hope I might de-tenderise it. It wore off after a few weeks though.

KK, lovely picture of your DS. What a handsome chap.

MAS, your zines look fab. Well done on selling them all and well done on having lots of commissions at the moment. I particularly loved the birds you showed on your FB the other day.

Hope 14K and little 14K had a better night and the dreaded croup is buggering off.

Waiting for Sometimes to let us know how little Miss S got on with her mascotting duties. I bet it was a great day.

I had a 'frog' dream last night and it's just occurred to me it might be because of LJ's frog post yesterday. Smile

I shall be spending my voucher today as well as reducing my ironing pile. I am also trying to ignore pain in right boob this morning. If it doesn't clear up I will see my doctor tomorrow. I think I've dealt with having only one boob very well but am a bit embarrassed to say that I have developed an almost hateful relationship with the remaining one. It gets in the way, is far too droopy and I'd much rather be flat chested. Blush Anyone else feel that way or is it just me?

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/03/2012 09:10

thank you for lovely words about my zine- I do love making them -a relaxing thing to do in between pictures, plus a good way of working through ideas.
figgy hope remaining breast stops aching - I would think there's probably a complicated relationship with the unaffected breast- I certainly feel annoyed with my right one for not being the same size as the left (the left was the one with surgery and reduced in size by rads)

Hope the gigs are having a lovely time

l4k · 11/03/2012 11:19

Had to take little l4k to hospital for steroids and also ended up with anti bs for chest. Back this morning for second dose. Just got back.
Will catch up later, lovely ladies.

Figgyroll · 11/03/2012 11:45

Poor little 14K. Sad Have the steroids helped? I hope you manage to have a restful day.

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/03/2012 12:18

oh no,poor boy Sad hope they do the trick xxxx

KurriKurri · 11/03/2012 12:43

Poor little lk4 - he is having a rough time Sad - I hope the AB's and steroids kick in quickly and he feels better soon, and that you manage to have an easier day lk4 - you must be shattered.

Figgy - I know what you mean about the remaining breast - I sort of look at mine and think 'what is the point of you' and also not to be morbid or anything but I see it as something that can only go wrong. But I'm hoping that if I decide to got through with reconstruction I'll feel much more positive, - I think there must be a time element too. I got a lot of pains in my remaining breast for a couple of years - it's calmed a bit now, - I think I'm a little more relaxed now.

Enjoy your shopping Smile

Holsten - brilliant walk yesterday - you must be getting very fit Smile - Enjoy your day at the seaside - I love throwing stones into the sea Envy -lucky little holsten Smile

Ned - I think the scalp tenderness will calm down gradually. I used baby shampoo/body wash to wash my head (and my body actually) - I think your skin gets generally sensitive. I also used baby moisturiser all over - so a bit of that on your head might help Smile

Mr K is recovering from the rugby trauma -it's something you have to learn to deal with if you support Scotland Grin

Waving to jane and MAS - have a lovely relaxing Sunday both.

thank you for kind comment re. photo - DS's fiancee took it, and labelled it 'I am not a millionaire, again' Grin (it was taken at bingo where they take her mum once a week)

DS coming over later, his fiancee bought him and DD tickets to see Stewart Lee (the comedian) for their birthdays so they are off to that tonight.

OP posts:
l4k · 11/03/2012 13:11

Much better now,thank you.
He is actually speaking again and has even gone outside for ten mins in the sunshine(in his pjs and dressing-gown)
Please let that be the worst of it over.
It has certainly taken my mind off of my appointment on weds, that's for sure!!
He was supposed to go on a schooltrip tomorrow and I was going as a helper but that won't be happening now! never mind,if he ends up getting half the things we've had to promise him to take his medecine he'll think its christmas again.I hope he has forgotten a few!!
Hope everyone's ok,and thanks for all the croup adviceThanks

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/03/2012 14:18

that's good news 14k - bless him.

Sometimesiwonder · 11/03/2012 15:54

Hi all!

Thanks for being interested in dd's footie outing - it is today and I haven't gone but i am sure that she is having a high old time, posh hair and all! Grin

It is an FA Cup fixture for Bimingham v Liverpool LADIES, so not a huge crowd, I don't imagine, but it will be lovely all the same. She plays under 10s football and her team just got asked to be involved - and dd being dd, there was no stopping her.

Instead, I am stuck here moving clutter from one place to another so that the central heating guys can get the boiler in without risking life and limb tomorrow. Also we know them, so I don't want them going off telling anyone we run a minging household so I have had to get cleaning stuff out as well Hmm

KK - your surgeon sounds like a total knob. So glad you haven't got to see him again. On the plus side, it is a lovely pic of your ds.

Amber, hope the monitor is not too much of a grind and that they can get you sorted.

Pennies, my candle will be lit for you tomorrow.

Love to you all.

And for all those of you who saw Let's Dance last night - Rowland Rivron absolutely rocks! Grin

Figgyroll · 11/03/2012 16:44

Nice to hear junior 14K has at least managed to get outside for a bit of sunshine. The sun nearly aways makes everyone feel a bit better. Shame about his school trip but he's far better staying at home all warm and snuggled.

Hi Sometimes, how lovely of the girls to be asked. No wonder Miss Sometimes was so excited. My neice played girls football at school then, when she went to her all-girls school at 11, got involved in girls/womens rugby and is captain of her uni team now. She's very tall and slim and, at the moment, very pretty but my brother and his wife are terrified they'll get a call saying her face has been squished. Shock Roland Rivron on a dancing show? I missed that. I've always had a bit of a thing about him Blush. I'll see if I can catch it on i-player or somewhere.

I managed to use my 20% off voucher at M&S today, only bought a lovely lightweight denim skirt for me and a pair of chinos for DH but still managed to save £10. Smile

Hope everyone else is enjoying their Sunday.

KurriKurri · 11/03/2012 19:54

Good to hear little lk4 is feeling a bit better and was able to enjoy the sunshine today Smile - hope he has a good night tonight.

Well done to Miss Sometimes, bet she had great fun Smile Rowland Rivron was really good wasn't he? - I think he might win the whole thing.

Sounds like a good shopping trip Figgy - I think I've got an M & S voucher (well I know I have a voucher - but it's one of those you can use in lots of shops, so will have to check if M & S is one of them) I need some comfortable everyday shoes, so might treat myself. Rowland's dance might be on youtube by now Smile

DS and DD have gone out to their show. I'm knitting and watching Dancing on Ice Smile

Will be thinking of you tomorrow Pennies Smile

Hope everyone had a good Sunday.
