OlympicGoldPennies · 09/03/2012 19:39

Wow KK - he sounds like a total piece of work. Glad you got good scan news though.

Gigondas · 09/03/2012 20:18

Kk - he quite clearly is compensating but sorry for your shit day.

Amber hope you are taking it easy but as you say at least it's a portable monitor so you are home.

Sometimes exciting news re mascot.

14k how was the party?

Jchoc - dss is notorious for not turning up when he says, sometimes arriving days late. It is frustrating and worrying though

Am adding some nice Gigondas to FBs as
Peace offering for topsy. Am lieing on the sofa watching midsomer murder DVD do not gone native. You do wonder why anyone moves there.

Gigondas · 09/03/2012 20:19

But kk am pleased you got good news

KurriKurri · 09/03/2012 20:32

Gig - hope you are having a good time in France, and tiny Gig is behaving herself, and hasn't been thrown off kilter by the time difference Smile

amber - Is the heart monitor some sort of portable one at home? - sounds a bit restricting Sad - but I hope they can get things sorted for you soon.

How exciting about little Sometimes, - what a fab experience for her, what is the match - will she be on telly?
Brilliant news on the work front - well done you Smile

14k - hope little 14 is better soon and his party can go ahead, poor chap. Hope he has been able to manage cake and general spoiling for today?

Sparkle enjoy the peace and quiet while menfolk are acting like toddlers having a philosophical disagreement Grin

Hope you've had a good week Figgy Smile

Pennies - I'll be very interested in your updates - I don't know what kind of recon. I'll be having, but its great to hear the experiences of anyone who's gone through it. - Hang in there and I'm sure once it's over you'll be pleased you had it done - for me its all about moving on with my life, as much as the physical aspects.

There's some good looking stuff on the Fbs trolley tonight

l4k · 09/03/2012 21:28

Thanks for all your kind wishes for my little boy, and yes he made it to the party but asked to go home after 1 1/2 hours. He did well considering I am in bed with him now and he obviously has croup which if you've had experience of it you will know it sounds terrible. He hasn't been this unwell for years:( Poor baby.

Did manage to have a snatched word with bc nurse at hospital and she reassured me all films/ images and biopsy reports will be accessible I can't remember how this is possible as was trying to hide from my mum while on the phone and got distracted

I can't believe what a crappy day you've had kurri, completely unacceptable. And Amber's didn't sound like any fun either. Hope you both get some good rest and enjoy your weekends

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/03/2012 22:19

kk hope mini zine will calm you Smile - poor ds being unnerved by dh's fb status !
Poor junior 14k - my friend's ds has croup and it's very scary - hope he feels better v soon.

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/03/2012 22:19

amber hope you are ok after your trials today xxx

topsyturner · 09/03/2012 22:50

Sigh ...
2 1/2 glasses of wine and I am well and truly hammered !
Just trying to google my route from Belfast to gigs holiday home in France . Where abouts are you gig ?
Grin

Too drunk to read through properly , but hope amber is ok being connected up to the mains for the weekend . And still think kks surgeon is a giant knob !!!

Welcome to all our newbies , I will read back in the morning and find out all about you .

Have a feeling tomorrow is going to be spent in my pjs on the sofa , clutching my head and moaning "never again" Grin

Gigondas · 10/03/2012 08:01

I4k how is ds? Croup is horrid (I can still
Remember how sick I felt with it as a kid).

Topsy- the coffee machine is onWink. Our place is actually In Paris (idea being it is easy to get to and if we don't go we will rent it out).

Minigig been very good - midigig been thoroughly spoiled by grandma.

Need to get up as promised midi a playground trip - any orders from bakery while I am out for the FBs?

jchocchip · 10/03/2012 08:49

mmmmm croisants :) Envy at Paris, would like to go there.

I do have Marrakech to to forward to at the beginning of May though, so I mustn't eat too many fbs as I want to be thinner when I go!

amber connected to mains! I missed that. Hope she is ok. virtual hug, careful not to touch as don't want electric shock!

Plenty of water recommended to those who drank too much last night ;)

MaryAnnSingleton · 10/03/2012 09:25

croissants for me too please Gig !!
Am up a bit late today- massively awful dream - probably too much wine -gah !

NedSchneebly · 10/03/2012 09:37

Am I too late for the pattiserie run, gig? Pain au chocolat for me please!

14k Your DS feeling better? My DS ended up in hospital with it, poor scrap. Its rotten, and very scary too. Hope you all OK.

Topsy Hope you are resting this morning?! Hope head not giving you too much grief. Brew and bacon sandwich perhaps?

kurri hope you have recovered from your mammoth day yesterday. Lots of rest today, methinks.

amber thinking of you, all connected up. Lots of Brew and take it easy, OK?

Jchocchip Marrakech? Envy We're not planning a summer holiday til the last minute, to see what state I am in by August. This is making slightly Asperger-ish DH slightly twitchy, because he likes to know WELL in advance what is going on! I have put my name in a ballot for a flyfishing weekend in the summer, run by a charity called Casting for Recovery. It is completely free, especially for women recovering from bc, with accommodation, fishing tuition, equipment, counselors, medics, complementary therapies etc all included. I know nothing about fishing, but DH is a big fan, and thinks if I get on it, then we will be able to go fishing together. . . Hmm

Hope Miss Sometimes is getting excited about her big day at the footy. Fingers crossed for her!

Waves at sparkle Hope menfolk have sorted their differences?

Question for the day: What do you say to other children who ask why you're wearing a headscarf? One of DSs classmates asked me yesterday, and I just mumbled, "oh, I just like it. . . " DS knows about nasty medicine, and its made mummys hair fall out etc, but what do you say to other little ones, particularly those I don't know? Don't want to put any LOs off their Calpol cos they think their hair will fall out! Any ideas welcome.

NedSchneebly · 10/03/2012 09:38

X post MAS were you with topsy on the wine last night, leading each other astray, by any chance? Sorry you had a horrible dream. Take it gently today, yes?

topsyturner · 10/03/2012 09:40

Uuuuugh Blush
Never again Grin

Cafe au lait sil vous plait gig and lots and lots of fresh croissants please !

Left over lamb , ginger and garlic curry with lemon and honey naan for the fbs trolley ...

jchocchip · 10/03/2012 11:32

Lovely sunny day here. Windows need cleaning though :(

Ned I always try to be honest without giving tmi when answering questions from littlies. The answer could be anything from 'It's pretty and it keeps my head warm' to 'I've been poorly and I'm waiting for my hair to grow back' Outside my experience, I'm sure someone will be along with ideas soon.

KurriKurri · 10/03/2012 12:29

gah - its afternoon already. I had an early night, fell asleep straight away and was up and refreshed this morning. But the phone has been ringing non- stop - I've only just managed to have breakfast - DH and DD both out this morning so I was hoping to press on a bit with some washing etc. - and now they are home!

topsy - PJ and sofa day sounds just the ticket if you are feeling rather delicate - as jane says - plenty of fluids. - I'll keep you company, - I was feeling quite odd last night, and realised it was because I'd had hardly anything to drink yesterday at the hospital (seeing Mr Knobby) Grin

MAS - mini zine has helped me calm down, I was loking at it again before I went to bed last night Smile

Gig - am very Envy of you sitting in Paris enjoying the pastries -do they have those lovely little coloured macaroon things I saw on a TV programme recently? Have a great weekend Smile

Ned - good luck with the fishing weekend - I hope your name gets chosen Smile - I do sympathise, my DH has asperger's and he gets very agitated about certain things - he doesn't really do 'spontaneous' very well. Smile

Regarding questions from other children - I tried to be factual, but not scary - as you say you don't want them thinking their hair will fall out! - so it was I have to take a special medicine which will make me better, but it makes my hair fall out for a little while then it grows back. So I wear a hat to keep warm.

Of course knowing what you want to say and then remembering when a child asks out of the blue are two different things - everything tends to go out of your head if you're anything like me!

jane - don't mention window cleaning - or I will feel guilty!

Hope you are feeling OK today amber - the monitor must feel a little odd - do you keep it on until Monday? Hope Holsten and Figgy feeling better after busy week.

Hope little 14k is feeling better today, and that Miss Sometimes is having an exciting time Smile

Lovely and sunny here, - good weekend to all

Cinnamon bagels going onto fbs trolley(and some nice seedy knot rolls with mature cheddar and pickle for lunch.)

MaryAnnSingleton · 10/03/2012 13:25

Mr Knobby Grin !! My last message got lost- bah ! Anyway, really hope you win that fishing prize ned ! I drank some green tea and Pepsi Max before bed,so that and the fish & chips mopped up my wine intake - no ill effects, though I expect it contributed to epic dream.
Like KK's dh I get very agitated about spontaneous things- holidays always make me incredibly anxious.
Hair falling out advice to explain to children sounds v good to me- keeping head warm while medicine is doing it's job. That's a possible idea for a new zine....x

Figgyroll · 10/03/2012 14:12

Afternoon all. Gosh it's positively spring-like in our part of Essex today. Smile

Amber, I missed your post about being wired up to a monitor. I hope it's not getting too much in the way of things and you're not getting all tangled up. Let's hope they find out what's going on and can sort you out.

KK, TCP? It's such strong stuff it's probably adhered itself to you while you were waiting to see knobhead your consultant yesterday.

Ned, hope your name gets picked. I remember DS2's friends asking why I was wearing a scarf (mostly special needs) so kept the answer very simple and said my hair had fallen out because of the extra strong medicine the doctors were giving me to make me better but that it would start growing back again soon. They were okay with that. We're planning a last minute holiday too - in May. We did it in 2010 and went on a cruise - saved 100s of £s.

Topsy, are you feeling a bit better now? That'll teach ya Grin.

Hope Sometimes's DS is enjoying her mascotting adventure today and that 14K's little'un is feeling a lot better.

Well, I've got the house to myself and have plans to get into the garden shortly to spruce up the borders. I've also been given a 20% voucher for M&S by a friend and it would be rude not to use it, wouldn't it? So feel a shopping trip coming on too. Grin

Have a lovely day all. xxx

p.s. Found a box a mint Matchsticks and a box of Peppermint Cremes lurking in the cupboard left over from Christmas. Goodness knows how I never spotted them before but you're very welcome to them - we're not keen on minty things here.

amberlight · 10/03/2012 15:19

Hello all! Smile

I am plugged into my monitor, after having a fall-out with it last night and taking it off (oops). Managed to get my heart to replicate what it did last week, by doing the same long uphill walk...so at least the heart chap will have that recorded. Seems only 1 in 1000 people get AF at my age Hmm but at least it's treatable in most cases.

Ooo, minty things! I shall put Brewon for everyone

KurriKurri · 10/03/2012 15:47

Yes please to Brew and minty things Grin

Its good your AF is likely to be treatable amber - but a pain to be tied to a monitor - I think I would fall out with it too!

Enjoy your gardening Figgy, very spring like here - daffs. and crocuses out, tulips shooting up and some little irises coming through.
Voucher shopping sounds therapeutic too Grin

DH watching rugby and wasting the sunshine IMO

l4k · 10/03/2012 16:18

Hi all terrible night for littlest l4k
Hope tonight will be better
Sitting watching DVDs with him
Thanks for asking

Figgyroll · 10/03/2012 16:22

Thank you for the Brew and glad monitor is on and working again Amber. What a pain for you.

Oh dear 14K, poor little lad. Sad I hope he has a better night. DVDs and a cuddle with his mum will definitely help.

Didn't get to M&S to spend that voucher - I will go tomorrow. Instead I've been in the garden then been wasting time playing Scrabble with my friends on FB.

Chicken curry bubbling away nicely so got that to look forward to later.

LimeJellyforBrains · 10/03/2012 16:27

Kurri I am Shock and Angry at your treatment at the hands of Mr Knobby yesterday. As you say, surely he could have spared you a few mins or a short note much, much earlier!

l4k so sorry you and little ds had such a bad night. Croup is so horrible. I was told to take ds1 into a steamy bathroom when he had it as a baby but that may be a load of rubbish, I don't know. Hope he is better soon x

The big news here today is the frog orgy in our pond! It's only 6x4 feet and we counted 15 frogs, and what a racket. Have a few clumps of spawn already. Last year only saw 2 or 3 frogs and the poor female got injured and died Sad. Hope there are no fatalities this time....

LimeJellyforBrains · 10/03/2012 16:29

Sorry for brief posting - ds1 is moaning and groaning he needs the laptop for his homework! Back out to the garden to count frogs do some weeding x

amberlight · 10/03/2012 16:40

a frog orgy!!? Blush Well I never! Don't look, good people!

I4L yes, DS used to respond well to steamy rooms when he had croup. Worth a go.

Figgy, I think I'm finding it all rather amusing in a way...just adding it to the list of bits not working Grin
