Hello ladies, - just taking the plastic wrapper off a brand new thread Smile

OP posts:
l4k · 09/03/2012 13:48

hi all,
I have got the letter for appointment at breast clinic but it's at a different local hospital(next weds 14th).That's fine but I want to know that they will have my previous mammos from other hospital there.I phoned to ask but have to ring back later to speak to the nurse.
So,5 days to go.Will have to tell dh at some point.

And ,it's my dc4's 5th birthday today and he's not well at all.Just got back from docs who said he seems to have the "particularly nasty and long lasting"virus that's going about. Not Fair!!! poor little boy might miss his own party if he does't perk up.Sad

SparkleRainbow · 09/03/2012 13:49

Gig - not sure dh and FIL could fit on the naughty step at the same time....but I'd give it a go! Visions of them sitting back to back and pouting are coming to mind

SparkleRainbow · 09/03/2012 13:51

xpost 14k. I am sure they will email the mammograms across, but it is always worth reminding them and making sure!!!! (says sparkle who is a bit of a control freak when it comes to drs)

I am sorry to hear about ds being poorly, hope he doesn't miss his party. Sad

l4k · 09/03/2012 13:54

Hi angry feet-missed your post,sorry.
I don't think speed of referral means a lot.I have an appointment on weds so we can worry and wait together!!

l4k · 09/03/2012 13:58

and again Sparkle!!
thank you,I like to know things are on track too.I'll check with them.
ds is having a little sleep atm so that should do him good and maybe he'll be well enough for 4:30.

Any sign of Kurri?

Sometimesiwonder · 09/03/2012 14:00

14k - remind them, definitely! IME they are very, very good at the big stuff but a bit less reliable on the small. So don't be afraid to remind.

To you and angryfeet i would just say - have yourselves a lovely weekend and try not to sweat it. Easy to say, so very hard to do.

Gigondas · 09/03/2012 14:03

Agree with sometimes - chasing them up re your Scans and notes the way forward as they are less efficient than should be ( I dropped round some scan notes to
Save time with dementoroncologist).

Sometimesiwonder · 09/03/2012 14:06
Sometimesiwonder · 09/03/2012 14:14

14k - his party is today??? Shock I missed that, sorry. I hope his sleep has him raring to go, poor little chap....

Dd is being a mascot at a big footie match this w/e. She is very, very proud and says I must blow dry her hair so she is looking her best Smile

SparkleRainbow · 09/03/2012 16:48

sometimes - Grin at blowed dried hair so she looks her best! How on earth has dd got to be a mascot at a big footie match?

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/03/2012 17:27

hi angryfeet - do stick around for a handhold- agree with everyone that speed of referral isn't to be worried about -the whole system is just very efficient. Try to relax over the w/end as sometimes says.
Poor junior 14k hope he perks up for his party.
Great that your appointment is soon too.
Gig mmm,French treats -yum. Have a brilliant time.

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/03/2012 17:28

what big match sometimes ? how exciting !

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/03/2012 17:29

oh and ds has another school trip -this time for RS - Krakow and Auschwitz next Feb I think..

NedSchneebly · 09/03/2012 17:53

Good for miss sometimes ! Bet she'll have a fab time!

Glad to hear you're having a good time gig

Hope junior 14k got to enjoy some of his party? Poor lad. . . Glad you've got a date for your appointment.

angryfeet stick with us while you're waiting. It makes it easier with virtual hand holding!

No news from kurri and amber? Hope all OK for them both x x x

KurriKurri · 09/03/2012 18:04

Hello everyone just skimmed through the posts so far - a quick hello and welcome to angryfeet - like the other said I wouldn't read too much into the speed of referral, but do stick around so we can support you through the waiting Smile

Pennies - will be thinking of you on Monday - its a big thing, you're bound to feel apprehensive, - but wishing you loads of luck and god thoughts Smile

I have just got home after a ....wait for it.....seven hour wait at the hospital. Shock I am completely shattered. Have been there all day.

Appointment at 9.50 am - I get seen at about 11a.m. - Consultant chooses to lecture me on why it is a total waste of everyone's time for me to be there, that someone should have just referred me to plastic surgery, no need for me to see him at all. He adds as an after thought 'its not your fault though' Hmm Then he says 'while you are here someone with cancer is not being seen' . Yes I get it, but I didn't ask to see him, in fact I didn't want to.

So then he says ' since you are here, I will examine you and then I'll refer you to plastics' He checks me over, says ' how long have you had this lump?' - one I've had for 2 years, and have had checked before, and mention every time I see anyone - so I tell him and he says 'Hmm I don't like it, I'm sending you for a scan', then he goes out and I over hear him says 'Oh dear..' to the nurse.

I begin to freak out.

So then have the scan, - see a lovely doctor who tells me all is fine, it is scar tissue and a 'long thin but innocent' lymph node. So all is well, I'm told I have to see the consultant again.

Receptionist says ' there might be a little wait - go off for 45 mins and have a coffee' Which we do (DH has very kindly decided at the last minute this morning to come with me Smile)

Go back to clinic and sit and wait and wait and wait. A nurse comes out and says Mr Breast-Surgeon is running 4-5 hours late Shock

Seven hours after my initial appointment time, I final get to see him again, where he says 'Nothing suspicious found. I'm referring you to plastics. You don't need to see me again, I formally discharge you from my clinic, your future appointments will be with oncology or plastics'

I think he could have scribbled that on a bit of paper and given it to me 5 hours ago!

On the plus side, I managed to read my entire book club book for next week!

I'm now having a large cup of tea, - I've gone beyond the point of being hungry.

What a day!!! - I'm going to sit and read what has been happening to all of you - and try to restore my sanity Grin

Blimey kurri what an epic, stressful day for you. So glad mr kurri was there with you. I'm so glad you got your referral, but what a monstrous wait to get it. Have a resorative Wine later, perhaps?? Glad also that you don't have to see him again- he sounds a bit of a cock, IMO. . .

jchocchip · 09/03/2012 18:13

Bl**dy hell kk, we all knew you didn't want to see him! what a day! Can't believe he left you worrying that long.

I have to see surgeon on Thursday, hope he isn't running 4 hrs late! Think its just 6 month follow up so may be discharged?

Need a gin. It's been a hard week. dh and ds should be back soon I hope, ds should have been here yesterday so bit worried...

KurriKurri · 09/03/2012 18:14

A Wine would be lovely Ned, - yes he definitely has a touch of cock surgeon's God complex about him! Hugs gratefully received Smile

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 09/03/2012 18:15

jane - I'm sure you won't have to wait that long - I can't imagine how such a delay arises, it is completely bonkers Confused Hope DS and Dh get home soon Smile

OP posts:
holstenlips · 09/03/2012 18:16

seconding the cock comment from Ned there Kurri. Blimey what a day, hope you have a restorative weekend planned (hug)

TGIF is all i can say after a busy day at work...oh and zzzzzz

waves limply to all

x

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/03/2012 18:20

oh my kk - that sounds horrendous- you poor love- what an arse though...hugs and fbs to restore you.
xxxxxxxxx

Fish and chips for supper tonight, my treat for ds for being a star...yum.

smee · 09/03/2012 18:57

Heck, Kurri that sounds horrific. All for a referral too. Sad Wine surely is essential..?

Wonder how Amber got on? Should think she'll need a drink too.

Just running out to meet up with a lovely friend. Am mighty impressed by Sometimes's DD as a mascot though. Have a good night everyone. Smile

topsyturner · 09/03/2012 19:10

Please excuse me everyone , but kk , what a ginormous total fucking arsehole !!!
( not you dear , the surgeon Grin )
My surgeon is a bit like that , but no where near as bad !
I am just so glad you don't need to see that cock again !

Be back later to read properly and reply to all at length . But I personally hold gig responsible for me falling off the lent wagon this evening . I just had to crack open a nicely chilled Chablis to go with all the French goodies she piled on the DBS trolley ... Grin

amberlight · 09/03/2012 19:38

KK, that's ruddy appalling Hmm

I'm rigged up to a heart monitor for 48 hrs. Plumbing of heart is fine. Electrics is on the blink. Atrial fibrillation. Probably is the herceptin, since it also affected the nerves in my fingers. At least it's a portable monitor so I'm at home.

I'm tired. It's been a totally rubbish day. There's wine and I intend to drink it. Anyone else for a virtual Wine?

Figgyroll · 09/03/2012 19:38

Evening all. Had a quick skim through and am thrilled to read that Smee's scan was all clear. Yayyyy for that!!!!!

Gig, in France? Lucky lady

KK, I concur wiv wot the others have said about your surgeon. Massive cock (he wishes). Thank goodness he's discharged you. I hope the wait to see the plastics person doesn't take too long.

Jchoc and Holsten, I'll join you in a drink, have also had a busy stressy week at work. We've had practice Ofsted inspections and everyone's nerves are well and truly frayed.

14K, fingers are crossed DS made it to his party? Poor little lad, feeling ill on his birthday. Sad I'd definitely ring and make sure those mammograms are forwarded - it would be awful to get there to find they haven't been sent.

Angryfeet, the others are right - quick referral usually means a very efficient service or a cancellation, so please try to relax and enjoy the weekend (easier said than done, I know).

Sparkle, grrrr at your menfolk. You could do without their tiffs but enjoy the peace and quiet in the meantime.

Ned, love the headwear, you've got a great selection. I never got round to buying Buffs but they look fab. I've got all my scarves tucked away somewhere (they're the ready tied ones) but will get them out in a couple of weeks for Pirate Day at school and will lend them out to fellow pirates. Smile

Sometimes, wonderful news about the extra work. Well done, you.

MAS, great news about T's results. What a relief for you after all the worry. School trips next year sound good, if a little thought provoking.

Sorry for such a mahoosive post. Blush I've missed a lot, I know, but waving to everyone. Thank goodness it's the weekend is all I can say. I'm feeling a bit knackered.

Have home-made chocolate brownies for the FBS trolley but definitely feel the need for Turkish Delight so will buy some tomorrow and add any leftovers. Smile
