I knew things were going too well.

peters vad site is leaking a lot of fluid. indication of bad infection, he has pain in his back and feels rotton. swabs have been taken. am hoping infection doesnt get a grip too quickly as last time it set his ICD off 5times in 24hours, and its horrible. i have to phone in the morning to find out whats happening and if i can take the kids in or not.

Oh dear Misdee. He's in the best place to be treated (although probably the worst to pick up the infection in the first place).

exactly floss,even tho the hospital is one of the cleanest i have ever been in, and everything seems to work well with regards to cleaning eg. one team do floors, one for food, one do beds etc etc (some hospitals has the same person doing food and stripping beds) infections are pretty rife atm.

If he's not allergic to it, get hold of some tee tree oil to add to his washing water. It's supposed to be great against MRSA, but apparently lots of people are allergic to it which is why the NHS hasn't introduced it.

Honey is well known to have medicinal properties, get him some to have on his toast (preferably local grown, but if not the least fiddled with!) it might help his immune system you never know. No harm in trying.

I have not posted on your threads before misdee but I have followed them closely. So sorry to hear Peter's suffering another setback. I have a very good friend who has a 3 yo ds in need of a heart transplant but isn't even on the list yet. He also seems to take two steps forward then one step back. I really hope everything comes together for you and peter soon.

mymmama i hope your friends little boys gets on the list, but then i hope he stays enough not to get on it as well.

Every little setback makes me realise how fragile life is, clive passing away a fortnight or so again made it hit home really hard, losing peter is a real possibility, no-one can give us any guarentees in this situation. M is bad as well, his kidneys are failing, and he looks awful, and before he was one of the fittests on the unit. this is awful, i dont want to go today as i am too down to deal with it all. In some ways i have built a wall around myself telling myself its all gonna be fine, peter will come home with his new heart, but the wall is crumbling.

I'm sorry to hear this is all going horrible again Misdee. I suppose it's a bad time of year for infection anyway, I know that when we had my Cousin's son, they lived in fear of winter and autumn (Autumn coz it was damper, apparently). I think you are all incredible keeping it together the way you do. Take care XX

Not much you can do at home to help his situation, really.

Could you contemplate getting out and going for a walk or doing something with the kids ? Or gettting a sitter in and maybe having half hour to yourself to have a blub somewhere, or see a film to take your mind off stuff for an hour ?

i'm gonna go get ready to go ut, just cant be dealing with this all today. feel usless and selfish for not going today, but when he is bad i dont want the kids to see him as its very scary. no doubt he'll be wired upto monitors again today, and more IV's etc. not nice, its bad enough they have to see his vad without all this.

Misdee, don't feel guilty for looking after the kids, you are a Mum and a partner, you are looking after their interests in all this too. See peter when the kids are at school.
Really sorry about this. get yourself out - it is the best thing to do.

So sorry to hear of this setback. You are not useless at all - I so admire the courage you have. It must help Peter a lot to know that you are looking after the kids and making life as normal as possible for them. Hopefully you will feel more positive once you have been out for a while. Once Peter's antibiotics kick in he should start feeling better too. Hang in there Misdee, you are doing a winderful job.

he is bleeding freely from an injection site from last night and has a haemotoma.

This is awful for you, Misdee. I have no idea what a heamatoma is, but presumably he bleeds readily bcause he is on blood-thinning anti-clot meds?
