Mine seem to have not Sad
They should be up by now, right? This would be their 3rd year, 3 plants. Nada.

I look almost every day and I don't see them!

Mine have, yes. Also in their 3rd year.

Where are you in the country?

Bucks. So not really the wild cold north.

Boo.

Did yours sprout ages ago?

Ooh I just googled what peonies looked like when sprouting....and yes I have loads! I didn't know they looked like that so was wondering earlier when in the garden what they were!

Kerfuffler · 19/03/2023 19:40

Mine are sprouting but I only planted them last year.

Crimsonripple · 19/03/2023 19:40

I'm Bucks too.

Suetcrust · 19/03/2023 19:41

Nothing yet but I don’t expect them yet. I’m in the SW but the border is shady.
Otherwise I’m excited to see other shoots peeping through. It’s so uplifting.

Custardbanana · 19/03/2023 19:41

Yes. A couple of well established plants are a couple of inches already. The new one from last year is just poking through but much smaller.

Bemyclementine · 19/03/2023 19:41

Yes mine have. East Anglia. No idea how old they are but very - they were here before me, and I've been here 13 yrs!

sailrunski · 19/03/2023 19:42

I'm in Hampshire - I only noticed them this week, so I'm not sure how long they've been out for

TheSpottedZebra · 19/03/2023 19:42

Well I'm happy for you all (and grateful for the replies) but a bit sad for me.

Why did they die? Not too deeply planted. So strange. I KNEW they should be here by now.

Mine are a few inches high, leaves not fanned out yet.

cloverleafy · 19/03/2023 19:42

Ours are visible too, have been for a while.

They're funny looking beasts, aren't they?

Hmm, well this is encouraging. Maybe mine haven't vanished?

Do squirrels eat peonies? I'm played by them and they eat all my daffodils.

Yes very bizarre. If it helps we had a beautiful and massive palm tree which has died from all the shite freezing weather. We are gutted!

Cieloazzurro · 19/03/2023 19:45

I wouldn’t give up hope yet. Mine are barely visible. If I hadn’t made the effort today and didn’t know exactly where to look, I’d never have spotted them

TheClash2023 · 19/03/2023 19:50

Mine haven't. South East. I've bought and planted some others just in case they perished

Neighneigh · 19/03/2023 19:53

Barely but they are there and hopefully today's sunshine will have helped. Mine are only two years old and were in a deep but not wide pot until this winter when I moved it to a flower bed (that I can see from the sofa!)

TheSpottedZebra · 19/03/2023 20:04

Hmm, I'm more hopeful now that there still may just be some hope of a sprouting! I shall keep on eagerly looking for those first sprouts.

OP posts:
Mutabiliss · 19/03/2023 20:05

Yes, they've been showing a few weeks but haven't got far - maybe an inch above ground. Shady Essex garden.

TheSpottedZebra · 19/03/2023 20:36

Hmm, maybe I should get another to hedge my bets?

This is one of mine a couple of weeks ago. Several are up but one is always much later.
I'm in Lancashire

Mine is well over a foot already. It is a tall peony though. Already put plant hoops around it so it won't flop. Had it about 7 years.

South coast, Hampshire.
