Cuddles with congratulations and/or commiserations for all getting results on the 22nd Aug (and previous earlier obtainers)

Cake, Gin, Champagne, Tea whatever handed round for us on the thread.

As @tomnooktoldhertoo says
ALL our children are heroes of their own stories, they have thrived through a once in a century catastrophe and they will succeed

This is a support thread for our young adults post GCSEs 2020, regardless of their educational setting, and their results (life updates for those who went into work or have had results earlier). It is respectfully requested that all are supportive and helpful to each other. If you want to start a debate, e.g state vs private, please don't within this thread. Please also be sensitive when responding to threads about grades. It's all relative!

Some of us have been here since first thread back in yr10, some will be new. Everyone has been friendly and helpful in the past. Everyone is welcome. It is hoped this will continue.

Our DS/DD may continue down various pathways ( employment, apprenticeships, higher ed) We have decided for anyone interested they will find a thread within the Further Ed board.

Possibly a move to Parent of Adult Children Board in future? Post Results? September?

Best of Luck for those anticipating results

Thank you for the thread @CinnamonOrangeCremeBrulee . I have been lurking for a while and find reading the thread helps steady my nerves. DS doesn’t think he has managed to get AAB for his first choice university (one physics paper went v badly and he lost his nerve) so he is just looking at clearing now to line up some other possibilities. I am leaving him to get on with it. I think he is making notes of various universities admissions phone numbers so he is ready to act in the morning.

I am normally fairly calm but I didn’t go to uni myself and feel a bit out of my comfort zone. I am rewatching Cranford for comfort. Best of luck to everyone.

Me too. Was it last year the A Levels and GCSEs were in the same week? Feel that would have concentrated it a bit!

tryingmybest13 · 17/08/2022 21:24

Thank you for the new thread! @zott physics across exam boards appears to have been a right old moo this year! All fingers crossed!

Zott · 17/08/2022 21:34

@tryingmybest13 yes, fingers crossed, his exam board was the Welsh one, which I gather is less commonly used. DS is usually a B in physics but he feels it slipped to a C.
