DD is off to London tomorrow night to see Hamilton, she has had the tickets since the day they came out last year so is very excited. Wish she was as organised about booking the offer holders days she wants to go on!

DS has been home all day and barely done anything. So frustrated. Had friendly chat "are you sure you want to go to uni". He's adamant but still doesn't seem to accept he has to work, and harder than GCSEs. Grrrrr!

Sorry to those whose DD/DS are going through additional stresses.

DD been to Newcastle today and declared it too cold.

In reality the organisation of the offer holder day left a lot to be desired, and one History student talked about studying the 2017 election.

I volunteer to check the old thread and usher people over this way. Can't let kitten do all the work

Derek that would be so cool if our DS' were together at uni! Although 120 points is a big stretch for DS so hoping the visit to campus in the near future will really focus him for the final push.

nettle don't worry too much about your DD, the first boarding school I went to I was bullied horribly so I told my parents and switched to a different school which was the perfect fit for me and I had four amazing years there. I was so lucky with the education and extras I got by living at school, it's something I regret for my sons as I cannot possibly fit in all the extra curricular stuff I had for them (and all the music, choirs, orchestras and bands all over the place!).

Dd has spent 2 days of this holiday having a Harry Potter movie marathon with friends. So 19 hours watching films, such a productive use of her time. Then I have callously suggested demanded that she ensures her bedroom should not look like a landfill site, so she spent all day today "tidying". I suspect tomorrow will be spent doing her bedroom too as it still looks like a health hazard. So not much time spent studying then.

I'm here too. History coursework still going on here. Will be so glad for DD when all of the History and English coursework is done. The history teacher told them this week that they need to use the Harvard system for referencing. Half of DD's friends had never heard of this. Teacher then helpfully says she will not be responding to emails for the rest of half term. I am fuming with her whole attitude but very difficult as she is marking the coursework.

Not so much studying here either, which frankly is an alarming turn of events.

Mrslant. We're not looking until 2019. 120 points might not be correct. BBC I think is what he's looking at - which tbh is way under what he should be achieving - assuming top toch studying!

I'm glad I'm not the only one with a child who seems to be doing nothing! Having almost daily conversations with DS about how much work he isn't doing...but he just keeps telling me to leave him alone. Having to tread really carefully, as he is ASD and will go into a meltdown with me if I push too far (which isn't really very far at all...) So frustrating!

We're revisiting his two favourites next week to get a feel for the campus on a "normal" working day, check how far the walk to the accommodation is, hopefully talk to accommodation and disability services and also to check what the surrounding student areas are like to get a feel for where he could be living in subsequent years. Then I think he really needs to make a decision....

Hi I'm here. Dd is supposed to be working on her report for her internal school certificate. She has done some but needs to get it in straight after half term.
We are going to York offer holders day next week. We have appointments booked with disability and accommodation at the same time so hopeful it will clarify things for her.
Edinburgh (her only other choice) offer day isn't until April so she won't have long to make her final decision after that.

doistay if you can I would make appointments with the disability services. It is the only way to find out how really supportive they are and how much they get ASD. (DS with ASD is in his 2nd year at university and so I speak from experience.)

I'm here. DS is doing some revision every day and by "some" I mean a barely noticeable amount. I am sick of nagging him to spend five minutes doing things that would save me a large amount of time so I have written him a to do list.

In other news he sucked me in to World of Warcraft and I am modelling being a responsive adult by spending an hour and a half on there before he gets up in the mornings. What he doesn't see doesn't happen.

NoHaudin Did you need to make appointments to see Disability Services, or is it possible to just call in? I'm fairly confident that both the unis he's considering are pretty good on it...one has won awards for their student support in general and have already sent a form to be completed, the other were very, very helpful for the "interview" and selected a lecturer who was familiar with ASF to do the interview.

Haven't seen much evidence of actual studying from DS1 this half-term, so perhaps he's doing it very discreetly.
