And congratulations to your dd on the coursework going in.
DD's history teachers were out of lessons yesterday for coursework moderation, so she should find out next week what grade they've given (pending external moderation of course).

Nettles DD's Birthday is in 3 weeks, so literally 2 days before her first exam, so we've all agreed it will be a quiet affair for now and she will celebrate properly in the summer.
Her gift is festival tickets so at least she has something concrete to look forward to!

BadKitten thanks for the offer of some revision sources, but honestly there doesn't seem much point as I know he will be resistant to looking at them if I interfere! After this week's cock up with the exam and textbook we have agreed I will remind him of all exams and that he will do a certain amount of revision (to be agreed this weekend). I'm hopeful that the experience of sitting in several exams and not knowing the answers will be the kick up the backside he needed.

Luckily the Chemistry and Biology mocks were deemed "fine"...like others I'd forgotten how annoying that word was, and how stressful it is trying to interpret whether it's a fine-bad or fine-good!

Ds1 is still plodding along with everything, he's beginning to take it seriously. Ds2 still hasn't realised his first GCSE is only 3 weeks away!
We've just had his prom ticket information and leavers hoodie. I reckon the pair of them leaving school has cost more than them starting, and that's without clothes!
We have got him plates and mugs for September though.

We haven't had one of those for a while.

DS1 went to a heavy metal thing at Brixton academy and only just got back.

It was an African girl looking for money to study in the US.

Wow she obviously didn't read our thread with all of the worries about student finance!

Ds1 went to a distant pub with a friend, for the very first time he has actually arranged to meet up with people on Saturday night. He is taking his 18 year old ID very seriously. Tbh I not sure whether he made the whole visit up, he came back very soon despite claiming they had drunk pints of beer, but not a whiff of alcohol on him.
Dd has set off for a day out with her friends, she is really streets ahead of him in the socialising game. I don't know whether to laugh or cry about my desire for him to Go to The Pub. He has a good time at the football match though, it was exactly the right outing for him to do independently with ds2 (normally they don't get on particularily well)

And now he's asleep. Dh and I have been madly gardening, moving pots, quarrelling about housework (dh doesn't think I should do any on Sunday) and trying to come to some agreement about holiday plans. There is now an interdict on the subject of university in any form!

We've had some early celebrations for Dds 18th this weekend, plus she's applied for a summer job with more hours for July/August.

And she's inching towards pressing the button.

English teacher emailed her tonight to say well done on her coursework and she's on track for a high grade.

Feels like the calm before the storm at present!
