I know its been done before but what do you call the end bits of a loaf of bread?

I call it one thing DH (who was brought up 400miles away) calls it another and DD19 calls it something totally different(wrong!).
Please help me prove noone else calls it what she does!

but each slice also has a little bit of crust on the edges.

I thought the crust was around the edges of each slice?

I would call it the heel.
Husband calls it the ender.

Ends or heel. Crust doesn’t make sense to me.

I was born abroad but lived in England 22+yrs.
Either end of a loaf is a crust, so the last piece is also a crust IMO. Never heard any other term 🤔
