From Too Good To Go! Have had mixed results previously, once I got some sourdough bread, organic lamb, organic pork and lots of veg for 4 quid! But last time it was a gone off artichoke, peaches and squashy bananas. Does anyone else use it?
One bag is from the local health food shop, and one from a local cafe. Might ask for recipe suggestions later depending on what I get.

I'd complain about that one, that's not on at all. Might be too late now, but TGTG would probably give you a refund. @tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz

When I got a Costa one, I got 3 toasties and that was it. You appear to have 4 toasties, a fruit pot and the three tiffins.

And I love a tuna melt panini and am happy to freeze stuff like that or eat it the day after the use by date. And I'm still waiting for any sniff of coffee shop cake.

That's a shame, I guess it's just luck of the draw. My previous Costa one was cancelled altogether, 2 minutes before collection time!

Ooh I managed to snag two rare costa bags £3 each bargin !

Happy with everything, prawns wouldn't be top of my fave list but I am OK with them

I got a Starbucks one last night and it was the worst I've had from them yet but there normal decent so I'll try again

I need to stop going to this shop. These brownies will kill me. Either death by chocolate or the freezer collapsing on me in protest.

Yep! I was going to cook chicken tonight but it just smelt a bit weird when I took it out to marinate it, and once I thought that I knew I’d never enjoy it!
just luck that I spotted they had bags, and they usually have chicken so I thought for a fiver, I’d give it a go.
i don’t eat chicken drumsticks but I’ll use the beef in place of the chicken instead!

SpittinKitten · 22/08/2022 22:48

Morrisons today: two packs of peaches, fpur bags of salad, two little grape punnets, four portions of mango raspberry strawberry and apple.
Also a mouldy pack of tomatoes, two fruit platters with a use by of the 20th, and two packs of melon with a use by of the 21st.

Not great - i don't like mango, peaches or food past its use by date.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 23/08/2022 09:45

@BarbaraofSeville

I did what you suggested and provided photos of scratched off dates, MD 2010 etc to TGTG who agreed that's not right. They're going to feed back to the shop and have given me some credit for next time!

Very pleased - thanks again Grin

I collected a Subway order today. Three absolutely enormous baguettes, all fake chicken. Absolutely no problem with this, mix of veggie and meat eaters here, but very happy with our stash, that's 6 lunches, as even DS with his huge appetite couldn't eat the whole baguette in one go! Lots of salad too. £3
I'm imagining this wouldn't be to everyone's taste, but fine for us!

Peckhampalace · 26/08/2022 16:18

£4 from the local bakery, is more than I expected. (The potatoes get sold with hot chicken apparently).

Inspired by this thread I've booked my first ever magic bag for this evening.

It's a Cafe Nero one. Normally we have a take away on Saturdays but I'm trying to cut costs and DH currently has Covid so I'm not really in the mood for a takeaway tonight.

I'm hoping it has some snacky treat bits that we can all just graze on as and when we want to.

The Harvester ones look good but you have to collect them after 10pm which I don't really want to have to do.

I will post later on what I get in the bag.

Lindy2 · 27/08/2022 19:52

My Cafe Nero box.

Quite cake heavy but a nice selection of stuff.

Ole and Steen, the best bag I've ever had.

Three large filled rolls - multigrain, filled with salad, meat, cheese. A large soft bread roll with a frankfurter baked inside. A salad with salmon, avocado, edamame, leaves, etc. A yoghurt pot with mango puree on the bottom. A sort of nut brownie thing. A raspberry slice. All for £5.

Ole and Steen vary in generousness from branch to branch, and I've had both very stingy and truly excellent bags before from them, but this was spectacular.

givemushypeasachance · 31/08/2022 13:13

Did a beer one yesterday - a local brewery had found a stash of cans in their third party storage unit that had been forgotten, they're still within the best before date even but they've done several more batches of that beer since so they are surplus to requirements for their stock planning. Usually they're about £3.50 each but they were selling them four cans for £4, a bargain in my book!

Fallulah · 31/08/2022 13:15

Greggs and M&S are the best where we are. Starbucks is hit and miss - sometimes you get loads; sometimes it’s a sandwich and a biscuit.

We have the carvery and the Harvester ones round here too but haven’t tried them yet. We also have some random ones - cheese shops and fizzy drink wholesalers!

BarbaraofSeville · 31/08/2022 13:36

I've had another go and been more pleased with what I got.

A different carvery chain, big box of nicely cooked carvery veg, with a couple of Yorkshire puddings. Did me three small meals.

A different Leon - two of their meals that I wanted to try and a smoothie, pleased with that.

And Tortilla, two large pots of mixed meat, rice, beans and veg, which I've frozen as I need to get some extra bits to make into burittos etc. Again will do at least 3 meals for me.

Justjoinedforthis · 31/08/2022 14:20

Cor I would love a Tortilla one!

I’m off work this week, and managed to check the app at midnight just as the tim hortons ones went on sale. Collection is 23.00-23.45 tonight…. I wouldn’t dream of doing it normally but curiosity has got the better of me. Though I’m still toying with cancelling. I do not need to be eating any more doughnuts.

bjonesreborn · 31/08/2022 22:09

Tried a waitrose services one tonight. Happy with this haul

original glaze x2
honey crueller

Tried Costa today, a little disappointed. Other costs ones on this thread have been better!!

Did an impromptu Costa order yesterday as I was next to one just as the window started. Three sandwiches - tuna, ham, and cheese & chutney. Okay but nothing terribly exciting for £3.

givemushypeasachance · 15/09/2022 15:35

Local independent bakery yesterday for a collection just after I finished work. It was a bit more pricey than some - £6.99, but the "before" value was supposedly £20. It contained a large loaf of sourdough, a nice sandwich, two cookies and the most amazing almond croissant I've ever encountered. Fairly good value I thought, and great quality food, but not sure it all added up to £20. Guess it depends how much they charge for things usually!
