I’m collecting two magic bags today..

From Too Good To Go! Have had mixed results previously, once I got some sourdough bread, organic lamb, organic pork and lots of veg for 4 quid! But last time it was a gone off artichoke, peaches and squashy bananas. Does anyone else use it?
One bag is from the local health food shop, and one from a local cafe. Might ask for recipe suggestions later depending on what I get.

Super disappointed with my first one (Greggs). 3 croissant and 2 pain au chocolate.

chiffchaffchiff · 26/06/2022 16:24

Aww that sucks @PuffyMcPuffFace

@Justjoinedforthis how were your magic bags yesterday?

TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 26/06/2022 16:32

You have all convinced me to try again. DH is picking up one from Starbucks at half 5 after work!

NormalForNuneaton · 26/06/2022 16:41

DD regularly gets these (uni student)

When she was last home she got one from our local Parsons bakery and there were 2 bags worth of stuff :

2 full-sized unsliced loaves
1 tuna mayo baguette
1 sausage roll
1 chicken slice
2 custard slices
1 fruit danish pastry
1 plain baguette
pack of 5 jam donuts

One great: organic meat, organic yoghurts, mozarella. One a bit mealsey: a veggie sausage roll, leftover potato salad, apple turnover.

I've had the app for a week or so but everything has always sold out before I know about it, so haven't had a bag yet

Ooh please let us know how you get on!

TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 26/06/2022 17:47

Starbucks magic bag. No muffins unfortunately (DD is sulking) but that's my dinner tonight (egg and ham sub roll), breakfast tomorrow (yoghurt and granola), lunch tomorrow (egg sandwich) and dinner tomorrow night (meatless meatball wrap).

DH won't touch eggs or anything that has the word "vegan" on it.

@chiffchaffchiff - I know. Waaaaah!

Though the DC are happy as they get (giant) pastries for breakfast tomorrow before school Smile

PuffyMcPuffFace · 26/06/2022 17:49

I'm going to try and get a Muffin Break one next weekend...

Muchtoomuchtodo · 26/06/2022 17:56

We’ve done a few now. Ones I can remember:
Starbucks - one cookie, a vegan tuna sandwich, a chicken wrap and a cheese toastir for £4
Nisa - a small chicken, 2 packs of ok sausages and 2 pasta salads for £3.35
One stop - 2 prepacked sandwiches and 3 loaves of bread £3 I think.
It’s good to have space in the freezer if you get one from a corner shop or supermarket.

ArcheryAnnie · 26/06/2022 18:00

Was reading this thread on the tube, inspired me to look up what was on offer, and so just got a Pret bag.

Swedish meatball hot wrap.
Falafel hot wrap.
Chicken lahksa soup.
Mac and cheese with kale and cauli, hot.

Dinner sorted for me and DS! £4, no cooking needed.

Teeheehee1579 · 26/06/2022 18:14

Inspired by the thread I nabbed one for our local deli to pick up this afternoon but then the app sent me a note to say no leftover food today so they cancelled it! Was quite gutted but shall try again!

roses2 · 26/06/2022 18:35

I've used it a few times but felt like I was getting the dregs. I wish they had a written review section where people could see comments/photos of what others get. I'm not interested in bread or sandwiches which seems to be what the likes of Starbucks etc give out.

UggyPow · 26/06/2022 18:46

I downloaded it some time ago but it was Rubbish ! But I am on the outskirts of a big city so that might be why
You have convinced me to try again 😃

Fitzfatsfeist · 26/06/2022 19:33

Not usually much round me but just had a look and booked a case of flavoured tonic waters to collect tomorrow. Worth a try!

FlyingFlamingo · 26/06/2022 19:44

My favourite haul was when we ordered from the hand made doughnut shop and they ran out of stock so made a fresh batch of 12, we ate them for a week Grin

FlyingFlamingo · 26/06/2022 19:45

I wish more places would let you choose a veggie bag though

YourWinter · 26/06/2022 19:55

I love the app, but none of the Magic Bags compare to Morrisons’ Magic Boxes, though they changed their collection times so it doesn’t fit with my work shifts and I haven’t had one for over a year. They could be pretty random, sometimes just masses of fruit and veg that I’d give away (eg 6 punnets each of strawberries and raspberries already on the turn), once I got 16 avocados as well as loads of apples, pears and greens. I like bakery products best as they can usually go straight in the freezer. The worst around here is a Londis attached to a BP petrol station, I won’t use them again and I don’t buy BP fuel either.

Newnormal99 · 26/06/2022 19:56

I ordered a Starbucks one today which they then cancelled as no leftovers so I grabbed a greggs one.

Never had one from there before but was impressed

2 doughnuts
2 sausage rolls
Bean and sausage bake
Ham Sandwich
tuna Mayo sandwich
2 chicken salad rolls

£2.59

To the pp who mentioned about not being sure if a budgets petrol station would be hood ours is hit and miss used to be really good - sausages burgers other meat loads of pastries

Then I think they ran out of stuff so they just seemed to go round shopping grabbing sausage rolls and scotch eggs for next few bags so haven't been in a while.

ChampagneCommunist · 26/06/2022 20:40

Just booked a Gail's Bakery one for tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Oh wow, have Gails Bakery signed up? I always seem them carting off sacks full of bread each evening and I assumed it went to a local homeless shelter. I live 10 metres from one and love their cakes and pastries. It's not on TGTG yet.

Please post back on what you get!

Arnaquer · 26/06/2022 22:39

Has anyone had a harvester one? They're the only ones near me that seem to have availability?
Either salad or rotisserie chicken and salad

Teeheehee1579 · 28/06/2022 23:13

Ordered a BP M&S one today and was relatively pleased:

deli ham
smoked salmon
eton mess
pineapple
ham salad
cous cous salad

very good value for £4!

Arnaquer · 29/06/2022 07:01

I picked an M&S BP garage one last night. Had a chicken and bacon pasta salad, pecan pastry, packet of cooked prawns, pack of falafel, a small trifle. Not bad at all.
