From Too Good To Go! Have had mixed results previously, once I got some sourdough bread, organic lamb, organic pork and lots of veg for 4 quid! But last time it was a gone off artichoke, peaches and squashy bananas. Does anyone else use it?
One bag is from the local health food shop, and one from a local cafe. Might ask for recipe suggestions later depending on what I get.

I wish my local Neros did bags I love there brownies .

With coffee shops, cafes , takeaways I get that you would just walk up to the counter and ask , but who / where do you go to in supermarkets?

With Morrisons you just go to the customer service counter.

@dizzyupthegirl86 , that's amazing , I don't like them burgers but I reckon them alone would cost you £3.

2.30 each apparently. No doubting, the value is there but it’s nothing I’d have bought usually. I just like the novelty factor of these things!

There's a chocolate place on my app, magic bag for £10 ment to be worth £30 but I'm not sure if o should take the plunge or not. It's a bit different getting a rubbish one for £3/4

If you are in the same area as me (NW coastal town) don't do it.
I got an advent calendar (yes in June) , a large Ferrero Rocher without it's outer packaging and a box of Maltesers which were all white from chocolate bloom and soggy 😱

DeanStockwelll · 26/07/2022 00:01

@dizzyupthegirl86 you are right it's the novelty Factor and I guess it would get you to try some things you wouldn't normally buy but that bag that you've got I would definitely buy the anchor and a salad and it wouldn't take a lot to persuade me to get the Swiss roll so that alone would probably cover the cost of the bag.

@SpittinKitten , thank you it's a Morriston I was thinking of going to. I will keep a eye open for the next bag 😛

The Costa attached to my Tesco seems to do 4 savory and 1 or 2 sweet (these flapjacks were in date as it were). Even cuter, when I arrived for pick up the young lad asked my preferences, "do you like egg or bacon for breakfast? Club ok?" Ect! Then told me the receipt was in the bag 🥰

minesalargered · 27/07/2022 07:21

Now someone will grumble that there's not enough variety in that Costa bag, being all cheese toastie type items redbigbananafeet🙂.

Thanks for the photo re the carvery meals.

Oops! The carvery photo was on another TGTG thread. Sorry.

That's a great haul!

I got a Greggs one today. A vegan sausage roll, a huge cheese salad baguette, two donuts and a Belgium bun, a sausage and bacon toastie and two steak bakes. £2.95. With two adult children at home over summer, it does help as they open the fridge door at least every 25 seconds 🤣.

Not the most conducive to a healthy diet but the vast majority of their food intake is spot on, so on balance it's fine.

Aw fantastic! Don't feel the need to justify. That's a super result and I'm sure will go down well with the kids. It's all a bit of fun! X

Cheers, exactly! X

redbigbananafeet · 27/07/2022 22:30

I know you need a blue light card to shop there ordinarily, do you for magic bags? X

dizzyupthegirl86 · 27/07/2022 22:34

No, anybody can buy them, just can’t wander around the shop! They sell out SO quickly at this one, I’ve not been in time to get a mixed one for ages.

DeanStockwelll · 27/07/2022 22:55

@dizzyupthegirl86 ,I have never heard of that shop before is it a bit like Costco/ bookers ?

DeanStockwelll · 27/07/2022 22:58

Oh posted to soon , its a great haul the beef alone would cost a fiver in tescos !

pimlicoanna · 27/07/2022 23:20

My partner just got a Gregg's one. He got 6 pasty type things, a sausage roll and a chicken and bacon baguette. I guarantee he'll eat it all in the next day so not bad!

not quite, they call it a surplus shop I think. They get sent things from all of the main supermarkets, which is why there’s a mix of Tesco, M&S, waitrose, asda, Morrisons etc.
i think I got one of the bags the first time they did it, last year and the amount of stuff was ridiculous. It’s way more popular now, a lot of people use it for stocking up the freezer. Of all the meat/fish/etc I got yesterday, there’s only two that can’t be frozen
