I enjoyed the last Gousto thread but it seems to have disappeared so thought I would start a new one.
Anyone had a box this week?
I have had the Goan style basa and spinach curry which was really good. Also had the pork with bubble and squeak mash and the sesame hoisin chicken. All have been lovely so far. Just the Thai red curry to go now which I am looking forward to.

Yes I will do the same as I also found the chicken pathia rather hot and I hardly added any of the cayenne pepper. I just won't use any next time.

Same! I pour the little packets of chilli flakes into a jar 😂

I must say I'm finding the plant based recipes very uninspiring at the moment. There's never anything that catches my eye any more!

Any gousto recipes being made today?

I realised all four meals contain rice this week. Have I just gone for very samey meals or do you find a lot are served with rice?

I make a real effort to make sure they're not all rice-based @christmas2022

Today I am making Miso Graffiti Aubergine, Fragrant Pork Broth And Rice.

Rest of the week we've got

Mexican-Style Basa Tray Bake With Lime Yoghurt
Charred Corn, Feta & Spicy King Prawn Conchiglie
Lebanese-Style Spiced Rice With Crispy Basa

All new to me!

We have the Lebanese style crispy basa meal coming this week too, although DH has just tested positive for Covid and has no appetite

We have either

Brazilian style chicken and coriander curry

Or

Baharat Chicken and pepper skewers with spiced rice

I've just had tonight the Mexican tray bake but with chicken. I've had it before and enjoyed it so got it again this week

Yes they can be samey, so I try to choose 4 meals all with different carb options.
This week I have the Mexican tray bake which has sweet potato, the nduja ravioli dish, chorizo hash (white potato) and the hoisin chicken on wraps

Went for the curry.

It was nice but the sauce took ages to thicken.

All followed to recipe except didn't add any cayenne pepper.

The Miso Graffiti Aubergine, Fragrant Pork Broth And Rice was really nice, a bit of a juggling act but really tasty.

Gousto mince really gets on my wick though, it seems good quality but I hate the faff of having to stand and break it up for so long while cooking.

Mince is so cheap in the shop I tend to steer away from those dishes

We have the Malaysian style chicken tonight.

Anyone had that?

It needs a good processor though and I don't have one. Not sure if I can use my smoothie maker or hand blender? Otherwise I may need to go buy a small one?

We always use our hand blender for the recipes that require a food processor.

I'm having my first box tomorrow, went for 2 lamb mince meals as its something I don't have often and I'm sick to death of beef mince as we have it several times every week. I have a house of fussy eaters who only eat chicken or mince. Just received an email that the lamb mince has been replaced with, you guessed it beef mince 😡😡.

Is this something that happens alot? Wish I'd used my free box on a different week as all my recipes seem a bit boring and like I could have bought the ingredients pretty cheaply in Aldi. That's down to me picking rubbish ones though I guesse. I went for the Indian chicken burger, hoisin chicken wraps, lamb kati rolls with chutney and Greek style lamb pitta nachos. Wish I'd chosen better as I'm not remotely excited about any of these meals now 😂

That's a shame about your mince but hopefully the recipes will still be good.

Let us know how the hoisin chicken goes, I've been eyeing that one.

We had the Greek nachos last night and the meal was really good. The hoi sin chicken was tasty too, we had that on Monday. DD enjoyed it. We've got the Indian chicken burger tonight. We have very similar tastes!

We have had the hoisin chicken wraps before - really tasty and an easy one to recreate.
Haven’t tried the lamb kati rolls but had the chicken version and they were nice.

i cancelled this weeks box in the end. I’ve got one coming next week but although the recipes sound good, I’ve realised I’ve got most of the ingredients already in!
I’ve got £69 of credit but it just seems so wasteful to order when to make these myself, all I need is eleven ingredients and most of that is fresh vegetables!

Well I certainly will not be a returning customer. First box, granted it was free but my mince was replaced with beef and the chicken was completely missing from the box 😣

Oh dear, not good. Have you reported the missing chicken?

@pinkchampagne1 yes I have, they've given my £10 credit but I've just paused the subscription. So disappointed, I know it was free but I was really looking forward to trying them and can't get to the shops until the weekend to buy any chicken.

That is disappointing. Hopefully the ingredients will stay fresh until the weekend if you keep everything in the fridge.

You can order one off boxes at any time when you have your subscription paused if you want to use your credit. I have my subscription on permanent pause as I don’t like being tied into a subscription but order boxes regularly.

We have just had the Lebanese style rice with crispy basa. It was delicious.

I just had that too @pinkchampagne1 it was so good!

I have to say Gousto introduced me to Basa and I think it's such a good fish. I like it's meaty texture, holds together much better than cod.
