I enjoyed the last Gousto thread but it seems to have disappeared so thought I would start a new one.
Anyone had a box this week?
I have had the Goan style basa and spinach curry which was really good. Also had the pork with bubble and squeak mash and the sesame hoisin chicken. All have been lovely so far. Smile Just the Thai red curry to go now which I am looking forward to.

Ignore their chip recipe. I boil or steam them first then put them in the oven sprayed in a bit of oil. Much nicer

pinkchampagne1 · 12/06/2022 18:12

Has anyone got a box coming next week?

I have gone for the battered fish & chips, the mince and aubergine fatteh, sticky sesame chicken and the hoisin style chicken buns. Looking forward to all of these meals. 😊

Yes me. I always enjoy the sesame chicken meals.

I've got
Korean style beef bulgori
Garlic mushroom and sage gnocchi
General Tso's basa
One pot Chinese chicken and greens

dizzyupthegirl86 · 12/06/2022 19:32

Had mine today!
honey sesame chicken
hoisin pork and mushroom rice bowl
sundried tomato stuffed chicken
feta jewelled bulgar

pinkchampagne1 · 12/06/2022 19:41

Your recipes sound nice. I was very tempted by the General Tso meal. Was between that and the sesame chicken. I also love all the Korean dishes.

I’d go for anything Korean typically! Cooking the sesame chicken one at the minute. It tells you to crush two garlic cloves, apparently just for a laugh, coz you don’t use them anywhere in the recipe.

pinkchampagne1 · 12/06/2022 20:28

Oh really? How strange! Report back after you have eaten it. 😊

We have just had the battered fish and chips. I found the meal a bit of a faff to make and I didn’t think it was the tastiest fish meal I have had from Gousto.

Sesame garlic chicken was ok.
just made the Korean pork rice bowl but it’s quite disappointing. It’s really watery and nothing like the pictures. And my red wine vinegar exploded and soaked through the rice packet!

gousto seems to have gone from being almost always brilliant, to having a dud recipe every week. The pork currently has a rating of 3, my next one (primavera) had 1 but now seems to have moved up to 3.2!

pinkchampagne1 · 19/06/2022 20:32

Oh, was the sesame chicken a bit disappointing? Was going to maybe do that tomorrow.
Not good that the Korean beef wasn’t great. I usually love the Korean flavours.

I've just quickly made the 10 minute garlic mushroom and sage gnocchi. It really was ten minutes, and was really nice. I ate it in far less than ten minutes....

pinkchampagne1 · 20/06/2022 17:24

Sounds good. I like a 10 minute meal! We are having the Chinese style hoisin buns tonight and they are a real faff to prepare. Hope they will be worth it!

I didn't spot those on the recipes!
Or I did and couldn't be arsed with the prep Grin
I do like Chinese buns though

pinkchampagne1 · 20/06/2022 20:03

They were one of the new recipes. I must say, they were pretty tasty but definitely not one of the easiest to prepare.

Anyone got a box coming this week?
Ours is arriving tomorrow. We have the katsu chicken burger, Malaysian style chicken curry, pink pesto king prawn linguine and one pot spicy lamb and apricot stew. Really looking forward to trying these recipes.

Chicken & Asparagus Salad with Zesty Lemon Dressing this week.

Really tasty and will be easy to recreate.

pinkchampagne1 · 29/06/2022 20:08

Oh that sounds really tasty. I love asparagus.

It really was @pinkchampagne1 !

More an assembly job than cooking a meal.

pinkchampagne1 · 29/06/2022 21:41

I like new ideas for salads. I have ordered a chicken fajita salad for next week.

Did you all get the email to inform us that Gousto are introducing a delivery charge of £1.99?

OP posts:
florenceandthemac · 01/07/2022 20:33

No?!

dizzyupthegirl86 · 01/07/2022 20:51

I did. I can’t get too het up about it. The Facebook group I’m on is up in arms - but food is going up in price, fuel is going up in price - of course it was gonna happen. 1.99 isn’t going to cover the full cost of delivery either.

it did make me wonder though - would you rather they compromised on the quality of ingredients to keep the price the same, or passed on the cost increases for the same quality of food?

pinkchampagne1 · 01/07/2022 21:14

Which FB group is up in arms? It’s only £1.99 and they have a choice whether to order a box or not. I believe Hello Fresh have charged for delivery for a while.

OP posts:
dizzyupthegirl86 · 01/07/2022 23:34

I can’t remember, it’s a gousto fan one or something. Hello fresh charge £4 I think, but they introduced it by stealth rather than sending an email to people. I can’t see many people deciding that 1.99 renders it suddenly unaffordable, but I’ve seen lots of comments like ‘I’ll only pay delivery if they change their courier’ or ‘it’s expensive enough without the delivery’ etc which sort of misses the point!

pinkchampagne1 · 04/07/2022 18:05

I am only on the ‘Gousto rate the recipe’ FB page.

We’re having the one pot spicy lamb and apricot stew tonight.
