I enjoyed the last Gousto thread but it seems to have disappeared so thought I would start a new one.
Anyone had a box this week?
I have had the Goan style basa and spinach curry which was really good. Also had the pork with bubble and squeak mash and the sesame hoisin chicken. All have been lovely so far. Smile Just the Thai red curry to go now which I am looking forward to.

We have just had the basa katsu with amai sauce and apple slaw. It was really really tasty - much better than I expected it to be!

Has anyone else had their delivery delayed this week? We were meant to receive a box today but got an email to say it won’t be coming until tomorrow because of delays in their factory. They have given me £10 credit though which more than makes up for the inconvenience.

Ah no I've skipped a box this week to catch up on frozen leftovers!

JimMorrisonsleathertrousers · 21/07/2022 07:50

I'm taking a break from them too until payday 😆

pinkchampagne1 · 21/07/2022 08:18

We had the sloppy Joe loaded fries last night which were really good. Only have 3 meals coming this week. Thought about having a week off but really wanted to try the Thai fish burger.

We might have a few newcomers to this thread now seen as so many have signed up for the free boxes 😃

I’ve finally got an air fryer so can do half decent chips now!
I’ve got a box next Sunday
chicken and nduja Wellington
chorizo hash
chicken and butter bean hotpot
mexican chicken tray bake

pinkchampagne1 · 31/07/2022 10:36

Maybe I need an air fryer in my life. My chips always come out looking rubbish.

Your meals sound nice. We have a box coming Tuesday. I have gone for the Indian style fish & chips, chicken roti wraps, lamb tagine and breaded chicken with tomato and basil salsa

I'm back for the next few weeks thanks to 5 friends signing up and netting myself £100 credit.

pinkchampagne1 · 31/07/2022 14:32

Oh well done! Have you ordered a box for next week?
My friend tried to sign up using my code but it was invalid due to being used maximum times despite not receiving any emails or any credit as of yet. 🤔

How does the credit work? Do you but a box for say £50 and then get that free too? If you have the 30% off deal will it also use that up?

Do the £20 have to be used up in one go or does remaining credit stay?

pinkchampagne1 · 31/07/2022 17:11

If you have over £50 credit then it will all be used for your next box and it will be free. The remaining credit will show in your account for next time. You will still get your discount on top

As @pinkchampagne1 says!

I've got £80 credit now which will basically be two boxes and if there's any left over those few pounds will go towards the next box. And yes if you have a discount active that will come off too.

pinkchampagne1 · 02/08/2022 19:29

We have just had the Indian style fish & chips with chip shop curry sauce. So many lovely flavours!

Anyone had the chicken pathia?

I really should not have added the cayenne pepper it looked and smelled delicious but it was just too hot and I couldn't enjoy it.

pinkchampagne1 · 04/08/2022 15:27

We have had the chicken pathia. I really enjoyed it but it was quite a hot curry

It's one that I think I'll be able to easily make from home again without necessarily having to buy the gousto box.

The recipe cards are great though and I'll be keeping them.

pinkchampagne1 · 04/08/2022 15:49

Yes it is an easy one to recreate. We made it for friends when they came for dinner and they were very impressed!

@christmas2022 isn't this the case with all the recipes though? It's just that gousto means you don't have to go doing a big shop for allll the ingredients, and having to plan what to get on the shop. But I assume all of them can be recreated?

florenceandthemac · 04/08/2022 17:57

I do love pathia though. My favourite curry from an Indian is lamb pathia.
I've had the gousto recipe and it was nice, but obviously not a patch on an Indian restaurant one

Not sure this was my first one!

@christmas2022 glad you enjoyed it then 🙌🏼

Has anyone had the garlic chilli chicken with sesame veg?

Was very tasty, I liked the sweet honey smell to it. But I cooked it to recipe and used all the chilli and now my mouth is on fire.

Wondering next time to maybe skip the chilli flakes completely and just use the chilli jam.

Anyone else?

pinkchampagne1 · 05/08/2022 21:43

I haven’t had that recipe but someone rated it on a FB group yesterday and commented that it was too spicy after adding all the chilli flakes

OP posts:
NoInvitesEver · 07/08/2022 16:56

I only ever add around half the suggested chilli flakes in any Gousto recipes as from experience it's always too fiery otherwise.
