What is the worst film / most crappiest experience you've ever had in a cinema ?

I'll start. I remember watching the zodiac. I was immature and didn't really understand it-- but it was the most boring film I've ever seen in the cinema.

A few years later I watched Never Let me go. The atmosphere at the end was highly depressive

One of the Star Wars films from the 90s. It was so boring.I fell asleep. I wasnt the only one a woman behind me did as well. But at least my kids woke me up before the lights went on.
Her kids didnt 😂

Watchmen.

i hated it. It’s a terrible film.

I was pregnant and it was long. I stayed til the end because my (then) partner was with me. Turned out he thought it was shite too.

I saw Dear John ages ago in the cinema. Not as bad as some films as it wasn’t offensive or upsetting or anything - just so so so boring. I don’t remember anything about the plot or characters.

The Emoji movie
Absolutely dire

Fifty shades of grey, was diabolical.

Blair Witch Project - actually enjoyed the film when I saw it again decades later; but at the cinema in the late 90s the handheld camera stuff just steered me off a cliff of motion sickness, so that by the final scenes I was on the edge of throwing up.

Idunnowhyibother · 23/08/2022 18:05

Shaft remake. No idea what prompted me and DB to go but we left before I'd even started on the popcorn. Went and had a pizza instead and invented the other 129 mins we didn't watch.

The Guru, we ended up leaving halfway through.

Homewardbound2022 · 23/08/2022 18:29

Die Another Day. Awful.
Had to wear a mask in a full cinema and sit still for 3 hours.
If I'd been alone, I would have left early.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 23/08/2022 18:37

A.I. : Artificial Intelligence. A lot of it was good but it went ON and ON and ON. I was dying to pee leave by the end.

You were wearing a mask in 2002?

Kanaloa · 23/08/2022 20:51

@LetHimHaveIt

Don’t know about that poster specifically, but when cinemas started opening up again near me after lockdown they played a lot of older movies, since there weren’t many new releases. We went just for the fun of getting out.

Namechange192727171 · 23/08/2022 20:56

Cats - Took a lady i was looking after to see it. We both laughed throughout, what a crock of shit.

chilling19 · 23/08/2022 21:05

Stuart Little. My dc loved it, I felt like I had been trapped in the cinema for years.

@BellaChagall

The Revenant. Hours and hours of Leo Di Caprio grunting.

Eat, Pray, love. Utter shite.

Eat Pray Love was one of the worst books I've ever read in my life. I only finished it because a friend I love very much recommended it. Utter tosh

It really is a shocking, shocking book. I couldn't believe it was a bestseller. About as spiritual as an 18/30 holiday.

My worst films ever were Plenty, a navel gazing borefest with Meryl Streep at her most self indulgently ponderous and mannered.

And St Maud, as described in Rotten Tomatoes: uh, well, uh Jesus H Christ, this was the worst thing I have ever seen. It makes Lucky Logan look like Citizen Kane. I couldn't top that, but I would say it was like a film student short trying to cram every horror movie and psychological thriller cliche into one bloody mishmash.

greenacrylicpaint · 23/08/2022 21:35

the english patient

tbh the book was even worse. how the hell anyone thought that's good stuff for movie I don't know.

Another one for Vanilla Sky. I watched the original Spanish film (Abre Los Ojos) first, and thought that was why I didn't really understand it. I realised when I watched Vanilla Sky that l had understood it, it just wasn't very good...

The Minions Movie was a low point in my parenthood
