In your opinion, which roles were miscast?

I’ll start off with musicals:

Russell Crowe in Les Miserables
Piers Brosnan in Mamma Mia

I don’t think their singing was strong enough. There were enough star names so I wished the producers had been braver and cast unknowns who could act and sing.

@Thateverlastingyes77

What is wrong with Tom Burke as Strike? I haven’t read the books.
Strike is ugly, with pubic hair on his head 😀, or something like that. Tom is far too attractive.

But Tom is now my Strike and I envisage him when I read the books.

Andie Macdowell was crap but so were her lines.

I agree that John Hannah was too young and handsome to play Rebus, but his scripts, production and storylines were much better than Ken Stott’s version, but Ken looked more as Rebus should look.
( John Hannah’s production company made his version of Rebus, hence the casting)

I think Renee was great as Bridget Jones, and wonderful as Judy Garland. She also seems like a really lovely person with a sense of humour.

Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher. Lee Child's Jack Reacher is a huge 6'5" giant of a man who no one wants to mess with. Tom Cruise could be whisked away with a fly swat

Harry, Hermione and Ron. They were not terribly good actors anyway and have now turned into massive back-stabbing cunts.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 16/08/2020 07:59

I think Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher, together with the Harry/Ron/Hermione triumverate, has become the new "cancel the cheque" on this thread Grin

I thought Hugh Jackman was good as Wolverine and if they reboot the franchise, the actor taking over will have big shoes to fill.

I thought Halle Berry was wrong for Storm. She’s an Amazonian woman with a huge presence and booming voice in the cartoon. HB played her as rather meek. Maybe they wanted a star name for that role and she was the most high profile black actress at the time. It could be the character was rewritten to be less assertive.

Another vote for Mamma Mia.

Surely Meryl Streep was too old to be the mum? Wouldn't she have been in her 40's?

All the Disney remake films.

Mary Poppins
Beauty and the Beast
Aladdin
Cinderella etc

The Lion King was good though 😂

Wendalicious · 18/08/2020 23:27

Sorry Tom but mr cruise in rock of ages, excuse lack of capitals!

nosswith · 27/09/2020 13:26

Emma Thompson in The Remains of the Day.

will ferrell as Lars. I know its parody and he wrote it etc, but it needed a younger guy hes just way to old to cast himself opposite young women. I loved the film it was a great feel good movie but I just cringed everytime he got romantic.
