I’ll start off with musicals:

Russell Crowe in Les Miserables
Piers Brosnan in Mamma Mia

I don’t think their singing was strong enough. There were enough star names so I wished the producers had been braver and cast unknowns who could act and sing.

Oooh love this game! I have a contemporary one which is unfair because I haven’t seen it yet, but pictures came out of Lily James and Armie Hanmer in a new adaptation of Rebecca and they both look so wrong to me! Also a recent one, Timothée Chamalet as Laurie in little women. He just didn’t pull it off for me at all.

Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka. Gene Wilder was eccentric and quirky. Depp was just unsettling.

Emma watson in beauty and the beast, I like her but she wasn't belle, not for me anyway.

Jamie in Outlander. Red-head yes, buff, tick. But not tall enough. He’s a virtual giant in the books...

James Norton in Happy Valley. Great actor but he never looked like a malnourished, gutter-raised weaselly psychopath. He always looked like the radiantly healthy rugger-playing Old Etonian that he is.

Daniel Radcliffe in the Harry Potter films and in The Woman In Black.

Olivia Colman and Helena Bonham Carter in The Crown.

Tom cruise as reacher. Too short and too pretty

Oh yeah I agree about Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka. I can see why it would have seemed like a good idea but it didn’t work I don’t think.

I think Florence Pugh just about pulled off being 12 and 20 in Little Women though. It’s quite an impressive Performance I think, although maybe not very ‘Amy’.

Mark Rylance in Wolf Hall, he’s an amazing actor and I love him but he’s no Thomas Cromwell.

I found it hard to watch Jude Law in “The Holiday” as he was playing a devoted father. I just couldn’t get past the fact that he shagged his children’s nanny.

Hugh Grant in Sense and Sensibility. He was far too foppy and bumbling for Emma Thompson's magnificent Elenor. She would have had him for breakfast !

I agree with the series 3 casting of The Crown. Claire Foy and co were sublime, the new cast just don't have that regal feel for me.

Jack Black in The Holiday. He just didn't fit with the rest some how.

The Harry Potter kids. None of them can act at all.

Can I add Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter to Les Mis too.
