When I first saw/ heard of this film I thought no way, mum and kids not my thing, worst fear having/ Not being able to protect my children so watching it would be horrendous. But lots of people saying it's really good.

Have you seen it?
Is it good?
Is it scary?

Thank you, really. 💗 I’ll literally always remember this one mercy on Mumsnet. Your kids are lucky.

I know that you're most likely genuine and your feelings are actually hurt which is why I know I am a terrible, evil person for thinking this is hilarious. You are incredibly sensitive and someone telling you to calm down or correcting you about what the discussion is actually about is not online bullyingHmm and you seem to think people are personally attacking you. People are allowed to make jokes on here.

I’m trying to see if the world will allow a kind person to have the last mild word, or if there will always appear a flip, sarcastic person who must exploit the moment for a chuckle or a head shake, or to burn me a bit.

I guess I'm that bitch thenGrin

Dh wants me to watch this tonight. I have had the shittest day and hate horror movies so am totally on edge- I just want to watch some rubbish instead!!

stayathomer · 10/01/2019 23:55

Just watched the end, yes full of holes but I ( a Rom com girl too!) Was stressed to the max all the way through. A lot of the deaths are more implied than anything but you see some horrible stuff too ie they start to do something to kill themself etc. I'm actually really uncomfortable that I've heard so many people say their teens watched it-just cos of the theme I'm not sure what a ge people should see it at, could totally just be me though

WellBHoise · 11/01/2019 00:29

@Raeraemcrae have you noticed that Netflix has this age rating thing like films and the cinema does? So the 15 means not suitable for kids. Parents who let their kids watch it are crazy.

And any film where you have to screen out the word fuck, you’re going to be getting big plot holes!

Everyone else.
I liked it, DH didn’t. I wondered why the monsters didn’t send the crazy people to the blind house. Why didn’t the monsters just circle outside their house for all time as they knew they were in there?

HouseworkIsASin10 · 11/01/2019 00:50

Bacon Sandy was a bit puffy in the face agree, but played a good part. Those poor child actors, she seemed brutal!

I need to read the book now, usually so much better.

WhoKnewBeefStew · 11/01/2019 22:07

I’ve just watched it and enjoyed it. It’s left me asking more questions and that’s now prompted me to want to read the book

user1483646497 · 12/01/2019 09:45

I really enjoyed it. I don't know if this is way off but I wondered if the whole film was meant to be a metaphor? People go through life blind not seeing what is in front of them & not connecting with people and need to do that to stay sane? But the mentally ill are the only ones who actually see things clearly and have lost inhibitions making them more able to connect? And then if a sane person sees the true nature of life it is too much for them and they end up killing themselves. Or I could be thinking too much about it!!

It reminded me a bit of Yellow brick road.

Cornettoninja · 18/01/2019 16:04

I really enjoyed it (but i don’t get out much Grin)

I think your enjoyment of the film may depend on how much you buy into the monsters being demons come to cleanse the earth as explained by the supermarket fella when they all first got into the house.

That explains why some are infected but don’t kill themselves and instead go on a mission to get others to look and weed out any survivors.

BitOfFun · 19/01/2019 03:06

I'm looking forward to the sequel.

It's good, but parts where your motherly instinct tells you to scream at the TV in pure anger but
only for a few snippits though. It's not scary it's more of a thriller. 😁

Didn’t really enjoy this film. Think Dp liked it more then I did
