Well, that's two hours of my life I'll never get back- disappointing films you've seen?

Last night I snuggled down in clean PJs with popcorn and wine to watch the much-hyped "Girl on a Train". I noticed it was on Amazon Prime yesterday morning as was looking forward all day to watching it.

Well, what a completely bloody waste of time that was.

It was absolute horse shit and I genuinely went to bed feeling a bit deflated.

What disappointing films have you seen that you wish you hadn't bothered with?

I rarely watch films because this is how I feel about most of those I have seen.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 07/08/2017 19:46

Atonement. Ive told this a few times, we went for my birthday, mate went for a fag part way, came back and said "ffs, is he not dead yet?" To general hilarity from the whole cinema.
Cat in the hat (I know) same mate, our two huge dr suess fans were full of righteous indignation. "This isn't like the book mummy!" Yes dear, it's shite.
High school musical 3. To make it worse, in a cinema full of singing, texting, talking pre teens, when I used my phone to find gin chocolate in my bag, the usher shone his torch on me and told me to turn it off.

ChocolateBubbleBarsmakemefat · 07/08/2017 19:54

I lasted 20 mins with girl on a train, awful film.

Redglitter · 07/08/2017 19:58

Lost in Translation. I just fundamentally didn't get it- it seemed like there was just no sodding story

God if ever a film was aptly titled it was that pile of shite. The story clearly got lost in translation on it's way to the film. I saw that at the cinema with my ex. When the end credits started we both looked at each other with the same WTF expression

English Patient - hated that it was at least an hour too long

Mustbeoriginal38 · 07/08/2017 20:22

Agree with Jupiter Ascending.

Also Interstellar. Dh insisted we watch it as he'd heard it was amazing. It was so slow and I just couldn't take it. Faster pace might have helped a lot.

Into the Woods...there are no words. I even watched it again in case I'd judged harshly but nope...awful!

dustarr73 · 07/08/2017 20:24

Bridesmaids shite
My big fat Greek wedding shite
Lego Movie Barman shite
Star Wars the prequel shite but I had a great sleep
Master of Disguise is universally the worse kids film I have sat through. And by Jesus I've sat through some humdingers..

SoftBlocks · 07/08/2017 20:32

Inception. Couldn't care about any of the characters or what happened to them - eventually wandered off to make a cup of tea.

RiverTam · 07/08/2017 20:37

Ginny still can't agree with your assessment of LOTR. So what if you've read the Silmarillion, I've read the Silmarillion too (well, part of it) - DH has read everything Tolkien has ever published. He really rates the first films, though not very keen on the Hobbit. I agree with some of the casting, I especially didn't like Miranda Otto as Eowyn, I saw her more as a Brienne of Tarth woman, but less so. But there are studios and money men to please.

Bit I think we can safely say that LOTR was in better hands with Pete Jackson than most.

GeillisTheWitch · 07/08/2017 20:37

DH and I made it about 10 minutes into Sweeney Todd before deciding to switch it off. I am not a fan of Tim Burton films.

ijustwannadance · 07/08/2017 21:00

I hated Atonement too.
Black swan was shite.
Life of Pi. Utter wank.
Pursuit of Happyness. Mum and I both fell asleep in cinema.

I do have a soft spot for As good as it gets though

Lucked · 07/08/2017 21:16

Most of the event woody Allen films like Vicky, Christina Barcelona, match point and cafe society

AlwaysHangry · 07/08/2017 21:17

I hated Chappie with a passion it was absolutely terrible. Was expecting it to be like Johnny five but alas it was just shit :(

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 07/08/2017 21:56

I've just remembered another one, Trance starring James McAvoy. It seemed like it was going to be good when it started, but I literally lost the plot, I had no idea what was going on after the first 20 minutes.

N0tNowBernard · 07/08/2017 22:01

I have two words for you. Cloud. Atlas.

Angry
BrieAndChilli · 07/08/2017 22:03

Oh god, i had erased the fact I had ever watched cloud atlas from my memory!

Girty999 · 07/08/2017 22:05

BFG
Stick Man
The Inbetweeners
Ted
Girl on a Train
And I really don't want to see wimpy kid or emoji trash tomorrow, hoping I can at least see cars 3 or Despicable Me3 x (I see very little grown up stuff as my social life is 0)

N0tNowBernard · 07/08/2017 22:07

Brieandchilli

Smile

I couldn't even tell you what happened in it other than I hated it and had to finish it because I'd got too far in and had to finish otherwise it would be a complete waste.

Also hoped then ending might make it all make sense. It didn't.

FaithAgain · 07/08/2017 22:10

This thread has made me realise how many hours of my life I'm not getting back Confused

Yy to:
English Patient (Waffly toffs, way too many flashbacks, no-one has a clue what happened)
Lost in translation - I agree, aptly named
Bridesmaid - I thought I would love it but I cringed all the way through

I would like to add The last kiss (with Zach Braff), DH only got about 20 minutes in, Punch-drunk love (Adam Sandler film- flat mate insisted on watching to the end to see if it made sense - it didn't), Polar Express - people will be horrified but honestly I've sat through it 3 times and I still have no idea what it's meant to be about, why the carriage goes spinning off or the train gets derailed...just, nope.

FaithAgain · 07/08/2017 22:11

Girty I quite enjoyed Despicable me 3.

BrieAndChilli · 07/08/2017 22:43

N0tNowBernard
I seem to recall none of t making sense and it being very very long!

N0tNowBernard · 07/08/2017 22:49

Brie
Yes!

Lambbone · 07/08/2017 22:51

Breaking the Bank. Bloody awful, despite having Tamsin Greig in it. The script was so poor. Total waste of everyone's time.

ipswichwitch · 07/08/2017 22:57

The Hurt Locker. It won oscars ffs. All I could gather was it's about a bloke wandering about Iraq(?) dressed in a mattress, he diffused like one bomb during the entire two hours. No idea what the rest of the film is meant to be about.

NikiBabe · 07/08/2017 22:59

War for the Planet of the Apes

Valerian & the City of a Thousand Planets

LarkDescending · 07/08/2017 23:15

The Beguiled (2017 version with Nicole Kidman) is the worst thing I've seen for years. "Atmospheric thriller" my arse. Really should have walked out of that one.

La La Land left me cold. DP on the other hand was so moved by it he actually shed a tear Confused
