Well, that's two hours of my life I'll never get back- disappointing films you've seen?

Last night I snuggled down in clean PJs with popcorn and wine to watch the much-hyped "Girl on a Train". I noticed it was on Amazon Prime yesterday morning as was looking forward all day to watching it.

Well, what a completely bloody waste of time that was.

It was absolute horse shit and I genuinely went to bed feeling a bit deflated.

What disappointing films have you seen that you wish you hadn't bothered with?

The Punisher.

DP and I still joke about it many years later.

JetBoyJetGirl · 07/08/2017 12:17

Aridane Don't watch HC3. Liked the first in a bit of a "WTF?!! Grin" way. Second was a bit grim. What I've heard of the 3rd puts me right off.

StormTreader · 07/08/2017 12:17

Jupiter Ascending, what a heap of Mary Sue drivel that was.

ClopySow · 07/08/2017 12:18

The Revenant. I hated it. The only thing i got from it was a sore arse from sitting in the cinema for so long. I couldn't understand why everyone was so blown away by it. 2 and a half hours of utter misery and despair followed by more misery, despair, pain and suffering - both for me and Leo.

Oh. And 500 days of summer. I can't look at Zooey Daschanel after that film.

implantsandaDyson · 07/08/2017 12:18

Child 44 - shite shite. I really enjoyed the book, was looking forward to the film and just no, no, no. I can rant for a very long time on this Grin.
I agree with Time Travellers Wife - it was a poor film.

ShotsFired · 07/08/2017 12:19

Eat Pray Love. Worst of all, I watched it trapped on a long haul flight and had "saved" it as my special, last "treat film" after enduring some other dross to get the flight flown!

Sicario. What a load of old shit. Despite all the rave reviews. My OH is is deepest love with Emily Blunt and even he was slating it.

Beauty and the beast. Haven't seen the new one but he few clips/trailers already make it look like utter crap.

LogicalPsycho · 07/08/2017 12:21

The Anchorman.

Everyone raved that I needed to see it, because it's the best comedy in years.
I really didn't, and it really wasn't!

ParadiseCity · 07/08/2017 12:21

Where the wild things are. Horrible. Only time I've walked out of cinema.

Eyes wide shut. Just awful.

Also hated lost in translation, utter load of shite.

ShotsFired · 07/08/2017 12:21

Joy. Another one that looked great, got fab reviews. I couldn't even make it to the end with copious snack breaks and a diversionary laptop on the go at the same time.

TheEmojiMovieLooksShite · 07/08/2017 12:25

Paradise Oh yes, Lost in Translation. I just fundamentally didn't get it- it seemed like there was just no sodding story Hmm

Letters to Juliet
Ted 2

Was really looking forward to both!

EsmeWeatherwax · 07/08/2017 12:26

The Chronicles of Riddick. Was quite surprised it was still the same year when I got out of the cinema.

flapflops · 07/08/2017 12:27

Only film I've walked out of was a Star Wars one where the battle scene was about 43 years long and it had that Ja Ja Binks (or whatever he was called) in it. I died inside watching that shite.

Blobby10 · 07/08/2017 12:30

Agree with The Time Travellers Wife - didn't enjoy that at all.

both 50 shades films were rubbish Grin

Zaphodsotherhead · 07/08/2017 12:33

Oh hooray, others who didn't get the whole 'Lost in Translation' hype! We were lent the film by friends who said it was the best thing ever. Watched it with OH, then we just looked at each other in amazement and said 'is that it?'

Total pile of wank.

StuckInARut41 · 07/08/2017 12:34

Every film recommendation I ever followed on here! I've been cursing the posters for the hours I'll never get back lol

Steel magnolias
A walk to remember
Beloved
Bridges of Madison County
The Impossible
Leaving Las Vegas

That's just to start!!! I've got a few left to watch, The Colour Purple, Oblivion, The Jewel in the Nile and Romancing the Stone. I'll have to wait and see what I make of those Grin

To the pp who didn't like Wild Wild West ... are you on glue? I LOVE that film! Grin

I bought A Night to Remember based on a thread on MN and that was Sad obviously, it was fantastic.

rebelnotaslave · 07/08/2017 12:34

Alexander- with Colin Farrell as the Irish accented Greek hero.

Please someone tell me what RIPD is.

SheRaaarghPrincessOfPower · 07/08/2017 12:36

Bridesmaids. I hated it so much I stated a thread on here and offered to post the DVD to the first person who'd take it just so I could get it out of the house.

Absolute pile of wank.

SheRaaarghPrincessOfPower · 07/08/2017 12:38

Love Lost in Translation though Grin

MrsCharlesBrandon · 07/08/2017 12:38

Two for me, Insomnia and My Little Eye. ONLY reason I sat through both piles of shite was because I was on an early date with now DH.

I make no bones about it now!

McTufty · 07/08/2017 12:39

I agree about Batman vs Superman and Girl on the Train. I loved What Lies Beneath though.

I didn't like Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them. Eddie Redmayne was brilliant but the film was meh.

RiverTam · 07/08/2017 12:42

La la land. Really didn't understand the hype.

I'm a big superhero fan but the only good thing about Batman vs Superman is Wonder Woman's brief appearance. It's such a down film, very very violent and neither Batman nor Superman are particularly likeable.

HouseworkIsASin10 · 07/08/2017 12:44

Girl on a Train = Shite

Manchester by the Sea - Double Shite

Beauty & the Beast = Shite x 3

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 07/08/2017 12:44

I really liked Lost in Translation. However I did spend part of my life as a trailing spouse and so could totally relate to that whole 'come with me, I only have to do x days and then we'll have a holiday' only to find that the work is all consuming and I'm left trying to amuse myself in a place I wouldn't have chosen for a holiday. I remember that whole hanging around because he's only gone in for a few hours and then we have plans together, and then ending up waiting the whole day.

I saw it with H, who thought that the Scarlett character was moody and ungrateful considering her husband had given her a free holiday. Hmm
