It's an interesting conversation

www.tiktok.com/@meetthealis/video/7503903907920317718. Is this unfeminist to feel like this or do they have a point?

I’ve read that. Which part refers to pedophiles?

pointythings · 08/06/2025 20:59

If they can work for kuwait they can work for us.
Truth be told you probably just don't want it to work

Any word on how you think those modesty laws should be enforced in the UK?

And by the way, any time you suggest a Middle Eastern country as a model we should follow here, you're showing yourself up for a misogynist. You want women to go back to being oppressed.

Well for a start I would seperate the genders at school. Girls go to girls schools, boys go to boys.
Too much testosterone, half nakedness and hormones.
There was a study done last year that said that the biggest victims of rape were 14 year old girls. Mostly committed by their male peers.
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/09/20/14-year-old-girls-most-common-group-report-rape/

I would also have women only carriages on trains and tubes. Here's a video on them.
https://www.tiktok.com/@danawang/video/7387355882255928594

In big restaraunt chains I would make it law that they have to have women only seating area.
I went to a Somalian restaraunt last month and they had this. Women had their own seperate room where they ate.

Some of the government based better gyms I would make women only as well

So would this ‘segregation’ be forced or optional.

Because I don’t object to having optional single sex spaces for women.

Why not have a women’s gym or carriage…I just don’t want to be forced to use them.

How would you enforce an 'immodest' clothing ban? Fines? Imprisonment? Flogging?

Definitely no flogging.
Fines and imprisonment I would do.
We need to move forward and stop this nonsense.
We've had our fun oversexualizing ourselves and objectifying the female body now we have to say enough is enough. We need to bring back decency. We can't carry on like this

Our laws are put in place to prevent discrimination not enforce them.

Can’t believe I’m biting…

So do you think there are any other laws that should be enforced to protect women from rape?

Forced marriage perhaps ? Or curfews?

Why not go full Handmaids Tale and just lock us up surely that’s the safest place for us?

I really am curious as to what brought you to the feminist board…

No we shouldn't force people to marry or have a curfew for women.
Those are ridiculous suggestions

Do women get a choice in using them?

GreenCandleWax · 08/06/2025 21:10

wineandwhin · 22/05/2025 00:42

@2024onwardsandup That is not because women are forced to cover up, it is because of the severity of the punishment in islamic law for rape

I think you have misunderstood the comment you are replying to. It said that irresdective of whether victims are covered up or not, they will still be victims of rape and assault. So clothes or their wearers are not to blame for these crimes. The men who commit them are to blame, nobody else.

hagchic · 08/06/2025 21:12

@Hadmysay You've had far too much to say and I am rather sick of listening to your victim blaming nonsense.

Women can wear what they like in this country.

Women and men who try to control what others wear need to take a good look at themselves and ask why do they need to control other people and their choices.

Live your life and leave other people alone. Stop pretending to care about others when all you want is control over them.

SOME muslim countries

Which ones aren't, as in which ones permit their women the same rights they have here in the West?

Mind you I'm disinclined to believe anything from someone who thinks women should be imprisoned for immodest dress. Are you also suggesting men should be imprisoned for immodest dress, and what would immodest dress for men look like?

I don't know what the purpose of the 'modest' dress is. Is this the Garden of Eden all over again?

I don't think they wore anything much in the Garden of Eden, did they?

But it's a fact that the concept of 'modesty' and the clothing associated with it is used to oppress women all over the world - in Islam, in Judaism and also in Christianity. And whatever faith is doing it, it's wrong. If men can't control themselves - maybe they should be the ones in prison.

Okay - I’m out. You’ve had way too much of my energy and your views are outdated and ridiculous.

Praise be on your modest and blessed journey back to decency and opression 🙌🏾

WhenYouSayNothingAtAll · 08/06/2025 19:26

What kind of laws? What punishments ? How would they be enforced?

No trousers allowed? Only long , flowy skirts and dresses? Obviously no strappy vests or sweetheart necklines or bardot shoulders for tops right?

Curfews?

Women banned from certain jobs ?

Mandatory women only spaces ?

No drinking allowed? Make up? Heels?

Designated routes?

No going out without a chaperone?

How much exactly should women sacrifice for safety?

There's loads of things you can wear and look nice.
You dont need to wear a burqa or a hijab.
The same ways you don't need to dress like a prostitute.
There's balance.
Yes women should have our own spaces just like men should have theirs.

Eve ate the apple and tempted Adam and they were cast out of paradise. Eve was blamed for the fall of man. I think that's what the OP is trying to do, blame women's bodies for everything wrong with society.

If women wear knee length skirts and polo necks, society will be healed. I think that's the jist.

Hadmysay · 08/06/2025 21:31

Bex5490 · 08/06/2025 19:59

Go to any House music rave and the men will most likely be sweaty and shirtless.

I’ve never seen a woman’s nipples out in a nightclub but I’ve seen plenty of men’s.

Oh come on. That's a lot rarer than what women wear to clubs and you know it.
I just don't understand why so many of you like to play dumb.

Well, instead of penalising women, let's get with the much stronger punishments for men. And that needs to be all over the world. You rape? Life in prison, end of. Modesty laws aren't the answer, punishing the actual criminals is.

Nope we can do both.
There's a saying you can walk and chew gum at the same time.
Let's start encouraging some decency in society and the objectification of the female body needs to be frowned upon

We frown upon the objectification of the female body by making men stop objectifying the female body. Not by putting women back into their box. At this point I'm even doubting that you're a woman. You sound like the worst kind of woman hating man.
