It's an interesting conversation

www.tiktok.com/@meetthealis/video/7503903907920317718. Is this unfeminist to feel like this or do they have a point?

I can't open the links. Can you take screenshots please?

Classic victim blaming. Nothing excuses rape or sexual assault. There is an exhibition of clothes rape victims wore: https://www.utoledo.edu/studentaffairs/saepp/what-were-you-wearing/ If you scroll down, you will see examples of clothes women and girls wore when they were assaulted. Sexual assault has nothing to do with how short someone's skirt is.

The whole internet if full of messages aimed at girls to be as sexy as possible. This is drilled into them from a very early age. They see celebrities pretty much naked on the red carpet. However, if a 13 year old girl wears a short skirt, it is suddenly her fault if she gets assaulted? That is pure hypocrisy.

MiloMinderbinder925 · 22/05/2025 00:30

I managed to get into TikTok and see both videos.

The first woman has a point, I also have a problem with children in tiny skirts. However she then becomes demented and says that if her daughter was sexually assaulted she'd blame her.

The two are not connected. A predator really doesn't care what you're wearing and only a paedophile thinks a child is asking to be assaulted.

The second raises an issue which has been prevalent for a while, why do designers make sexualised clothes for children? Why are they available to buy?

I agree that children should not be sexualised.

Women in countries where they are forced to cover up are not raped and assaulted less

ProtectTransRights · 22/05/2025 00:33

Victim blaming. They'll go after you no matter what you wear unfortunately

wineandwhin · 22/05/2025 00:42

@2024onwardsandup That is not because women are forced to cover up, it is because of the severity of the punishment in islamic law for rape

They would be ostracised and shamed for reporting it.

Look at India.

Plenty of rapes in these countries but they are usually unreported as a rape victim can fing herself in serious trouble.

Renabrook · 22/05/2025 03:24

How many rapes are by strangers and how many by people the woman knows, is it really what the are wearing?

BeJollyEagle · 22/05/2025 03:26

The clothes you’re wearing has no impact on whether you’re going to be raped or not. Plenty of women who are covered up in places like strict countries in the east still get raped. It’s men that are the problem.

I'm really sorry everybody misread your comment!

No, they are not raped and assaulted any less. And it's even harder for them to get justice.

The thing is we dont actually know this statistically (I'm not saying your wrong) but doesn't it depend on the country though? I would argue women living somewhere like saudi arabia or kuwait are raped less than somewhere like the uk or the United States.

The PP isn’t saying women in those countries are raped less.

Just how men target drunk women there are men that target scantily clad women as well.
Wasn't that a big thing with the grooming gangs up north targeting white girls. They were seen as lesser because of how they dress compared to the muslim girls amongst other reasons

In those two countries I would put good money on them being raped less.
They probably do report things less though

This is a perfectly clear comment. I don't understand why several responses have ignored 'not'.

It's both.
If you encourage debauchery and objectification into society these things are going to happen a lot

So your point is men target women, yeah? What about men that rape children and babies? Or elderly women? You think the way they dress they are asking for? What about men who rape other men? Do you think men are going targeting scantily dressed men? Men are the problem.

I think ops post is basically saying in not so many words “if you dress like a whore then you’re asking to be raped” no mention about the clothing on the babies, children, elderly women and men that are raped.

You think men can’t control their sexual urges and go round raping due to encouragement of debauchery or objectification.
