I've been off work nearly three months now and am just really fed up with myself now. i've refused any meds but I just cant get over it. I started my counselling last week, and am hopeful she can sort me out. it was caused by by son having an accident, and juggling work etc which just got too much and made me cry.
Id had a lot of panic attacks but they are getting better but now I just feel worried when i go out, and that i want to cry.
Today I just can't breathe. I don't know if i'm worse today because i'm due on too.
I just really feel i've lost my way and lost confidence in myself, and i dont know what to do to get myself back.
I'm all crabby and wound up with people too - no patience.
I think the doctor is fed up with me too and i'm also worried she won't keep giving me sick notes, i'm never usually ill.......

Yes he had found it and put it upstairs but not told me ,he eventually went to get it when he realised i was not seeing the funny side.
Its as if he wanted me to think it was thrown away, even though he knew it wasn't.
To say he's got a prooblem with communication would be an understatement.
Thanks girls sorry for moaning i seem to be in a bit of a tizz today!

Ha Ha you'll regret saying that morning! Sorry things with dh haven't improved yet. So I have spent the best part of my day in A&E with my bloody leg. It's been driving me demented all weekend cos I'm convinced its something nasty, so I thought if I by pass the GP and go straight to hospital they could at least do a blood test or maybe a scan. Anyway after sitting around for a couple of hours I see a dr who thinks I have sciatica. I do have a tingling sensation that goes from the top of my bum down to my foot, but I also get pains in my groin, front of thigh, shin and calf. There is no swelling or real pain. Anyone know anything about sciatica?

morningsun · 30/03/2009 17:31

after my caesarian[painful leg] i had a scan i can't remember the name of to check for a dvt~they just put the scanner on the leg
when i re engage my brain ill tell you the proper name for it!

blissa · 30/03/2009 17:41

Doppler?

That's what I was hoping for, just to put my mind at ease, so that the inside of my leg has been seen! I think he's right, it kind of goes from my bum down the back to under my foot, but it was the other little pains that come and go which worried me. He said that can be part of sciatica.

Did your day get any better?

morningsun · 30/03/2009 18:00

yes i think so but it was an actual scan not just the audible pulse.
did you have a doppler done before?
and did they find an actual dvt or not when you were ill?
also if you don't mind me being nosy as i'm a few years out of date here did they diagnose the pe with a v/q scan or a ct or other scan?
all i really know about sciatica off the top of my head is its pain from trapping of the sciatic nerve in the spine.i think it can cause numbness and tingling too.

morningsun · 30/03/2009 18:11

my day started very yucky cos of dh in a mood and my dd being v unreasonable but picked up after chatting to my eldest ds and everyone being v friendly at the school run so am a bit more chirpy now

blissa · 30/03/2009 18:25

Is he home yet? Hope he's in a better mood so you have a nice evening.

I had a blood test called a D-Dimer first which can indicate clots, then a chest x-ray and CT scan. The clots showed up on the CT scan. There was no indication of a DVT and they didn't test.

I don't have any of the classics DVT signs, but I google, too much. This is all driving me potty I'm sick of worrying all the time

morningsun · 30/03/2009 19:30

yes i had the d dimer too and the doppler.
logically,if you are off the o/c and on warfarin then you can think no clots will form, certainly less than last time?
when my dd was ill,she had bad chest pain andi presumed it was due to heartburn/being sick but later found out all her clotting factors and platelets etc were abnormal and there is an increased risk of p.e. in her condition but when it was mentioned during her hospital stay it wasn't picked up on because of everything else going on,but i've always wondered about that.

dh is at prizegiving with dd.

do you feel happier now about your leg?How long has it been sore for now?

also why didn't they just do a bloomin doppler then?
did you just see the casualty dr or did he refer you to the medical dr?

blissa · 30/03/2009 19:59

Has she had further tests for her clotting factors? I think its the thrombophilia screen I'm to have when I come off the warfarin.

I saw the triage nurse and then a dr. He was a bit bumbling and didn't speak very good English tbh- he was french, finished every sentence with bon!

I suppose they didn't do a doppler because I have no swelling or tenderness, and the symptoms I have do suggest sciatica. I just hoped they'd do one because of my history. I know it's unlikely to be one because I'm on warfarin, but once my gp told me it is possible to clot whilst on it so I still worry. It's been like this since Thursday, I'll just have to see how it goes

morningsun · 30/03/2009 20:08

No in her case it was due to enormous inflammatory response.
I know but maybe if you end up going again and get no real joy,ask to see the physicians and ask directly if you could have a doppler.

blissa · 30/03/2009 20:19

He did say if I notice anything change to come back or go to GP. They were just so fabulous last time that I thought they would be a s thorough again, suppose it was the shortness of breath that did it!

Really should go and make myself something to eat, and do packed lunches- I hate that job

morningsun · 30/03/2009 20:22

yes hope you get some rest and a pleasant evening blissa

blissa · 30/03/2009 20:24

You too, thankyou for listening-again.

mooseloose · 30/03/2009 21:51

Oh dear Blissa, you are having a bad time. BUT I know all about sciatica! I am an expert! I had it when ds born (7 now) and it was agony. The pain went down my leg and settled in the side of my calf. pain was horrible and constant. It is a different pain from a hurting pain, and my leg sort of felt tight and a bit stuck, like I felt the movement was restricted (but i dodnt think it was).

I had a mri scan, and the pain came from my L5 disc in my back. I had a lot of physio to try and release it, and also had steroid injection in my spine too.

It took a good few months to go. I was on constant painkillers. It was ok sat down or walking ( I think) but was always triggered if i had to stand still, such as in a shop queue.

I started to play netball, and this seemed to get rid of it. I think the twisting turning built my muscles around it which took the pressure of it. pilates made it worse!

Hi Everyone,

This is my first post to something like this ever- and would really appreciate your views- I have had mirena coil fitted about a year ago (contraception & heavy periods)- and seem to be getting more and more side effects, thw weight gain and acn I can almost live with but im getting more and more unreasonable anxiety and almost panic attacks, particularly in the evenings, they are really bad and im at the end of my tether, am i actually having meantal health issues ?????(have had depression years ago but nothing like this before) or does anyone else have these symptoms? i feel bloated, migranes and generally miserble but this irrational fear is geting out of hand!!! my GP says these side efects are not connected to the ciol, but i am on no other medication and it didnt happen before......but am worried of risk of pregnancy without it.....but thinking nothing can be worth this anxiety and jittery sensation.....help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

morningsun · 30/03/2009 23:57

Hi loulou sorry you are feeling anxious
When it was first out the advice was that the mirena only released progesterone locally but now they say it can cause similar blood levels to the prog. mini pill.
Progesterone side effects as i understand them are often breast tenderness, fluid retention, nervousness.
My gynae said to me if you tended to be sensitive to mood changes on the o/c combined pill,it was more likely to happen with the mirena.
So it could well be the case [unless you could be peri menopausal which can initself cause mood changes]you are having some side effects.
I suppose you would have to feel the disadvantages outweigh the benefits for you to remove it.
Chat to you more tomorrow and hope you feel better soon

loulou35 · 31/03/2009 10:41

Thank you Morningsun, i feel better this morning (evenings are often worst)- just got bad headache and feeling grumpy Think I can't watch news or read the paper as something will set me off again lol!!!! least not jittery tho!!! . How are you? maybe i should be doing housework or something productive - one more cup of tea and will get to it...

blissa · 31/03/2009 11:48

Morning all,

Hi loulou, sorry to hear how you are feeling. Personally I don't know anything about mirena coil, but am here to listen if you need. Looks like morningsun knows quite a bit about it, she is very knowledgable and knows the right things to say . I never knew how much anxiety can take over if you let it, until a couple of months ago. Good to hear you're feeling better this morning. It is good to keep busy, I have baked a cake this morning, washed my hair and started to tackle the mountain of washing!

Feeling a bit better this morning, I think I've strained a muscle in my left side now so sometimes when I breathe in it pulls, aaaarrrgggghhh will my hypochondria ever go away? I need a good slap.

Hope your ok today morning xx

mooseloose · 31/03/2009 20:35

evening girls! Blissa didnt you have that pain before. I did before my cough, and I'm sure someone else did too! It's got to be one of you!

Hi Lou, sorry I cant help either. I dont know anything about the coil, but am amazed how Morning knows about everything!

I suffer with migraines, usually when i am coming on, but have been ok while suffereing this anxiety! very strange as I would have expected them to be worse.

I have a friend who is poorly, and that has made me jittery today, and a friend/neighbour is winding me up about an extension we are having. dh going mad I am wound up again! Threatening to wring her neck!
