Then throat felt funny like i had something stuck in i u know that feeling like right before you throw up?

Had some jam and toast and felt a bit better.
Noticed im a little shaky and i keep clenching my jaw which really bloody hurts.

hi are you upset about being prescribed them? dont be, they will help.

i have been on them before, though have escaped pnd so far (6 weeks) this time.

thewiltedrose · 03/06/2008 16:07

Oh im going to add this aswell actually, yesterday i didnt think i was to upset about being put on the pills until i started walking home and becasue it started raining on me and i couldnt put the raincover up quick enough i burst into tears right in front of the local pub i was mortified! Once i started i couldnt stop and cryed all the way home like i was a nutter

not sure why that happened but i havnt cried again since which is good.

Very very tired.

Low and tearful (although DH may be losing his job, so that hasn't helped!)

No appetite. Feel sick when I do eat.

Fun innit?

Lets add our list of symptoms to watch out for shall we?

Side Effects of citalopram: The most commonly-noted side effects associated with citalopram are nausea, vomiting, excessive sweating, headache, tremor, and inability to sleep. Overall, between 1 in 6 and 1 in 5 persons experience a side effect. Some patients may experience withdrawal reactions upon stopping some SSRIs such as paroxetine, and such symptoms also may occur with citalopram. Symptoms of withdrawal include dizziness, tingling sensations , tiredness, vivid dreams, irritability or poor mood.

Side effects of Prozac (fluoxetine) Common side effects include restlessness, insomnia, anxiety, headache, asthenia, flu-like symptoms, fever, nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, dry mouth, constipation, flatulence, dyspepsia, vomiting, somnolence, yawn, abnormal vision, sweating, trembling, weakness, weight loss, skin rash, delayed ejaculation in men, decrease in sex drive, and there have been reports of subsequent weight gain. As with other SSRIs, an overdose of fluoxetine or combining it with other antidepressants can lead to serotonin syndrome

thewiltedrose · 03/06/2008 16:21

How was your first couple of days flame? I couldnt believe the symptoms kicked in so quickly, have you still got yours bad or are they fading?

OP posts:
deanychip · 03/06/2008 16:21

v bad move reading the side effects, tis like googling some thing...bad news.

Flamesparrow · 03/06/2008 16:22

Hmmm... my pack doesn't mention the weight gain. tis a slightly diff version, will get the other name for ya

thewiltedrose · 03/06/2008 16:23

lol deany i know what you mean but i think if i can see everything that might and does happen then i wont panic if i start feeling rather strange with one of them iykwim?

For example if i was to start sweating like mad i can look so see if thats normal instead of panacing and running off to the docters saying im dying!

This medicine may cause some side-effects. These may include headache, dizziness,
diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, constipation, abdominal pain, dry mouth, loss
of appetite, anxiety, drowsiness, sleeplessness, nervousness, sweating and itchiness.
You may experience movement disorders and movement difficulties with muscle rigidity,
tremors and twitching.
Your whole body may feel weak with shortness of breath, inflammation of the throat and
you may experience a lower sex drive, also weight loss and hair loss may occur. Other
side-effects may be fever, hyperthermia, excitation, fits and abnormal bleeding.

I seem to recall reading on one site that I may get vaginal bleeding too... was a bit thinking I get that monthly anyway

For me they have only kicked in the last couple of days

Prufrock · 03/06/2008 16:27

BUt Wiltedrose - citalopram is a second generation SSRI, wheras Prozac was first - so really you are on the new improved Prozac.

FWIW, I was so ashamed of being put on Citalopram that I didn't tell anybody, not even Mumsnet. It was only once they started to work that I felt I could tell anyone, because I realsied that I was actually being very brave and sensible by admitting I had a medical problem and getting some medical support. I don't expect you to actually be able to believe that yet, but just remember that so many other people have been where you are and got better, and you will too - even if it doesn't feel like it now.

thewiltedrose · 03/06/2008 16:28

Lmao at the virginal bleeding now thats strange.

So how do you feel being on them for nearly a week? Have you noticed anythign changing or are you sitting there feeling like crap and thinking they will never work?

OP posts:
Flamesparrow · 03/06/2008 16:30

I'm actually feeling lower, but it is a different low iyswim, so I am taking that as a sign they are having an effect

thewiltedrose · 03/06/2008 16:30

lol pru new and improved?
Prozac is still stroger than citalopram but it usually comes with stronger side effects to.

OP posts:
thewiltedrose · 03/06/2008 16:33

what do you mean by a lifferent low?
