Hi all
Well I've picked up my prescription for citalopram I'm hoping to start taking it tomorrow morning but I'm already really anxious about it 😢
Anyone want to hold my hand

Still trying to hang in there. The anxiety of doing the normal things I once did is getting to me. I know these things never use to bother me now it’s so hard to do them I don’t understand why. I just feel the medicine hasn’t helped only made it worse to do the things I found so easy.

I was all set for taking my 1st tablet this morning but woke up feeling so sick so still havent taken it 😢

@Heather104
Unfortunately the tablets will take time to settle, you definitely need to give the at least a month. I had side effects on fluoxetine, one which was permanently feeling sick. I lasted 3 weeks before I couldn't cope. Things will get worse before they get better, that is the down side of SSRI's.
Koko.

Its possible that your head is messing with you. There is a certain amount of trepidation, but your brain is amplifying it because you're anxious. Going round in circles is a pain in the arse.

@Gingaaarghpussy I just don’t like the feeling of always wanting to be in bed laying around. That’s not me. I’ll give it another week to see where I’m at. Trying to hold on just so tired of blah.

Llh1979 · 24/01/2021 17:28

@Gingaaarghpussy your so right the circle seems to have no way out I just need to find its kink and break through

Indeed. Keep pushing. You'll get there. I have complete faith in you. Smile

Llh1979 · 25/01/2021 09:39

Well I've just taken my 1st tablet 🤞🤞 I have cut it in half so only took 5mg I'm not sure it's enough to do anything but I'm thinking take 5mg for a week see how I go and increase it to 10mg if all is ok
Thank you to each and everyone of you for your messages
Heres hoping for a good outcome for us all

Llh1979 · 25/01/2021 12:59

@Heather104 I'm feeling ok upto now (fingers crossed it stays this way)

@Llh1979, I was on 40mg a day and free use of standard release propranolol for a year or so for severe depression and anxiety. Best thing I ever did. Good luck.

Shmithecat2 · 25/01/2021 13:04

40mg of citalopram that is.

Llh1979 · 25/01/2021 13:08

I've been on the propranolol since boxing day so just over 3 weeks its definitely easing the panic when I have my attacks I've only took 5mg of the citalopram which I'm going to do for a week and if it stays good then I'll up to the 10mg that's been prescribed
I had an awful reaction to sertraline

@Llh1979 I’m glad you’re doing ok so far. Hopefully it keeps going up!! Just keep thinking positive.

@Llh1979 today has been a bed day for me. Feeling like I’m on a boat today. I’m glad everything is going good for you so far. That first step is the hardest.

Llh1979 · 25/01/2021 20:46

@Heather104 have you spoken to the doctor about it? Maybe they could give you an antisickness tablet to go alongside the citalopram it may take that side effect away

OP posts:
Gingaaarghpussy · 25/01/2021 21:29

@Heather104
How long have you been taking your tablets? It sounds like citalopram doesn't agree with you.
I think you need to speak to your doctor. I had permanent sick feeling, as a side effect, when I tried fluoxetine prozac I cant remember how long I "tried" to take them, that is why I'm on citalopram now.
My support is there for you too. BrewFlowers

Heather104 · 25/01/2021 22:30

@Llh1979 @Gingaaarghpussy I spoke with them today. I’ve been on it 16 days. The want me to try and stick with it and try to eat more. I haven’t eaten much since starting it. I’ll give it till the end of the week. My head just hurts.

Backbee · 25/01/2021 22:37

I find taking it with a bit of food and before bed helps @Heather104. Personally I would give it another week or so as it does take time to kick in, and if it's not improving see about trying something elsem

Llh1979 · 25/01/2021 22:43

@Heather104 have you tried any others or is this your 1st one o really hope it starts to help you soon and the side effects go away sadly docs give them out like smarties now

Heather104 · 25/01/2021 23:11

@Llh1979 this is my first time trying anything. So I’m trying to hold out hope.

Heather104 · 25/01/2021 23:12

@Backbee I’m going to try to give it till Friday that would be like 3 weeks. So I’m hoping I’d notice something
