Here's a new thread for us.

OP posts:
Showtime · 13/05/2012 12:59

Afternoon all, after a sunny morning. Hope everyone else is able to appreciate good gardening weather, and that Nilgiri's still enjoying visitors with plenty of spoons and futuredream's not yet driven to dormousing. Bet upward's having a good time on holiday, and the break from usual BoO at home.
Been having new BoO here, having purchased "simple" wireless doorbell, now installed after 2+days and understand why there's both website (repeat of instructions) and phone info for help, latter not available until 10 a.m.Mondays.Confused

futuredream · 13/05/2012 15:00

Afternoon all- very much driven to dormousing , *Showtime,Grinhence absence , so sorry .I do ave some essential tasks which I neglected in favour of frivolity , though .

Oh bah , doorbell installation has always looked horrible to me , < extra shiney medal in the BoTO > How maddening to have no helpline advisor , but excellent that you found online manual.

Is it suddenly much warmer up where you are ? Massive difference here in
between cloudy patches - hot in sun , but really chilly wind

I feel terrible mentioning these fuschias when they were one offs from that event , which are decidedly Dh' babies ,or wuld have a go at sending oneGrin... I will look up making cuttings of fuschias , which I am never confident in doing - sreally want to try to preserve some of the lovely plants here whenever we move away , so I must do better!
Hope you'll soon have news of your artificial lawn

Lawn is now a foot tall ... bu lots of butterfliesSmile, plus MIL saw a blue damsel fly
< pads off to see if we have cyberfroglets s >
< borrows large scythe from shed of our c17th retreat >

futuredream · 13/05/2012 15:47

Aha , kind Dh feels up for a little drive so may not be able to post for a bitwhilst stuck in a trafic lost and blinded by spiky pollen...not really whingeing ,incredibly gateful after years without transport
Hope we all have leisurely afternoon ,preferably without too many Skype alerts for you , Showtime

Showtime · 13/05/2012 17:43

Just a phone call from non-cyber friend I'd forgotten about, thanks futuredream, and glad you can make the most of transport while it's available (and while DH is happy to drive just for pleasure). Wish now that I'd accompanied my own DH more often now, but I've always preferred feet when possible.
Only slightly warmer here, thanks, as sunless, but am hoping for improvement tomorrow and enjoyed organising new button container to fit sewing-box this p.m., including Victorian picture from internet, fun.

Showtime · 13/05/2012 20:04

Forgot to mention, please don't think of sending me a fuchsia, futuredream, am only interested in cyber-varieties these days, so will plant one in garden next year, after growing-on and pruning to standard shape, as a way of sharing another good memory really.

Time I did something about artificial lawn, but local friend loves idea, got really enthused and will probably have hers installed first, so will wait a bit longer... As mine will be easiest to lay over pebbles, have almost decided to have simple heavy-duty square or rectangle in centre, rather than have full area laid, men to cut edges, install under-fixing, etc. ( But thanks for reminder)

Showtime · 13/05/2012 21:55

Quick note to Nilgiri - have drawn round spare keys and added to profile page, so if any look interesting
(allowing for actual keys being few mms smaller than outlines), let me know and will send them.
I seem to have made up for lack of postings today, but it's good to be feeling a bit stronger at last.

futuredream · 13/05/2012 22:07

Oh I love the idea of having a fuschia in cybergarden and one in yours next year as another of our lovely memories ,Showtime , and thank you for stopping me from trying postal peculiarity -will practise doing cuttings , , which igt result in all sorts of plants to inflict upon you Grin. I'm all emotional this week , and your lovely idea has me all sniffly .

Aha , that was in fact how I've been picturing your lawn .Very thoughtful of you to allow neighbour to show off her grass first , plus you'll see how it "lays", as it were .

Met two shy Dartmoor ponies on our meander , some quite small lambs with black wool , and the two biggest pigs ever- the weight of two men -sunbathingGrin. Pretty nearby town was far quieter than it ought to have been on a lovely day - guess less dry weather and money in people's pockets is realy hitting the tourist sector .

Sorry for dull detail , but was very touched to see gent take his chips down to waterfront and share a few with the gulls < sniffs again >
Brews and bluebells all round

futuredream · 13/05/2012 22:21

Cross-posted - that's the loveliest thought for Nilgiri , Showtime , absolutely beautiful of you
As for lack of postings today , I'm the one lagging far behind- we know Upward & Nilgiri are off or wildly busy for several days, and you are on cybergarden orders to be self -indulgent , for once ! < begs > So good to hear you are feeling a bit stronger < highly -embossed cybergarden medal for patience >

Ah , just seen your post earlier - very admiring that you preferred to make your own way about , such a rare quality nowadays. I'm sure your Dh loved your independent , determined ways (& beage will certainly have favoured walking )
.

What a pain the sun hasn't come out
where you are , really annoyed for you , and hope it improves this week.
Brews , hoping Upward and Nilgiri have had a good day & are will sleep off some of their exertions .

Showtime · 13/05/2012 23:38

Good to hear about your recent trip futuredream, particularly all the birds and animals you noticed - there are never enough pigs about ! Beagle actually loved cars, anybody's car, and was sometimes borrowed, for company and for guarding car contents on errands.
He was once found (at the boatyard) sitting in passenger seat of open-topped sports-car, patiently waiting for someone to start it up and take him for a drive, and I remember my surprise, driving down village street one day, to see car coming towards me with my beagle in the passenger-space, standing up with paws on dashboard
( that must have been exciting, as we only allowed him on backseat or behind safety-cage).
Have to finish now, spoons gone, goodnight.

Nilgiri · 14/05/2012 00:05

Oh Showtime, that's an incredibly lovely thought. But I really think I've rounded up the old keys now - I certainly have one from which to get more cut, if I need (plan to reuse an old lock we took out, you see).

So thank you so much for your thoughtfulness but please don't expend any more precious spoons on my key-quest! ThanksThanks Sorry I was so terribly unclear above and have caused you to spend energy on this.Blush

Btw, I think your profile isn't open(?) under your new name, as I couldn't click on it.

Sounds like both you and future have had a busy weekend, and I bet Upward has too. Will read properly when can catch up, but sounds fauna-ful!

Sleep well all.

Showtime · 14/05/2012 09:55

Morning all - You're right Nilgiri, I can't reach my new profile page either, at least not from here, but do you know what I should do about it, I mean, which bit of Mumsnet? (I wouldn't have known how/who to ask about having post deleted either). It's not urgent, of course, as long as you're not wanting a replacement key.
Sun's out here, lovely, but must try catch-up with chores.

futuredream · 14/05/2012 15:48

Afternoon all-very sorry for lateness again , rather overwhelmed < retreats to steamer chair > Thank you for Brews , Showtime .
.
So sorry that you have had to lose that lovely profile you had built up , due to me Sad Am not certain who is best to ask, but know Tech helped when I started a thread about he Post button not working on my PMs ... often , another MNer will advise , as you know . I

Even more worried now as my cognitive processes are having a flareup , & I managed to post this into a thread I was watchingShock Am so very sorry , all , & do try to guard against serious miistakes ... I reported my post , which was in a fast-flowing discussion & which no poster commented upon , but clearly need to work out a foolproof method of checks right away Sad

(rest of original post )-
So pleased you got some sun first thing . Am being very purposeful as have too much to try to pack in this week , but whilst doing tasks I have had lots of insights into obstacles I have been puzzling over for years .
Am feeling frustrated atm as cannot get medical treatment I know I meet the criteria for ... I know I need to keep trying , but we all know it can be difficult to be calm yet persistent enough to "get past" the categorisations HCPs tend to make

< warms rugs and passes round Brews , fresh orange juice & hot choc with marshmallows, wondering if Upward will be home today, or not for a little longer - hope she's had a really refreshing break >

Nilgiri , you are not supposed to be worrying about posting atm!!-good grief , you need every ounce of energy for your visitors . I love "faunaful" Grin < uber porcine rolls over contentedly & lambs skip >

ManyThanks ThanksThanksThanks to Showtime for her hard work in
posting at times when not at all easy for her , and remembering things
which help fellow gardeners -ThanksThanks

Showtime · 14/05/2012 16:03

Please don't thank me for posting, futuredream, I choose to do this after all, and am equally sorry you gave up your beautiful new name. Not sure what happened when you posted recently on wrong thread(?) but it will all be the same six months from now, so please try not to worry. Hope you get some inspiration to help with medical problems, but I do know how difficult this can be.
Thanks for the Brew, have stopped having fresh orange juice now, and never been certain I liked it.... There's a card for you still awaiting posting. futuredream, but I hope to get out again tomorrow (spoonless again).
Still lovely sun here, so planted out 3 more seedlings
and selected supports for tomatoes, which should be going out soon. Hope upward can also enjoy weather while on holiday, makes such a difference.

Showtime · 14/05/2012 16:34

Have just put keys photo on own profile for third time, nothing new or different that I can see, but it seems to have got there now, last (No.3) in list. Thanks for help.

Upwardandonward · 14/05/2012 17:26

I m back now, it was a lovely holiday, wish it had been longer! I am tired from the journeying, so will just make some Brew for all.

OP posts:
Showtime · 14/05/2012 19:03

Welcome back upward, and glad you had a good time
while away - am sure it's been "good-for-you" after horrible time in hospital, having operation etc., then all the hard work of getting back to normal at home. Hope you're not too tired with travelling, and are able to have an early night. Thanks for making the Brew, I'd have made some for you if I'd known you were coming home.

Showtime · 14/05/2012 23:24

Goodnight all - hope you sleep well back in your own bed upward.

futuredream · 14/05/2012 23:51

So sorry to have missed saying goodnight Showtime - pc problems all evening < back to the manual ... have already tormented poor Tech with this >

Welcome back, Upward ! So glad you enjoyed it , and hope you've had a lovely rest this evening .

Thank you so much for your comforting words , Showtime*, and sorry for clumsy wording urging you to , sorry... we appreciate your posts , woud be the better phrasing!ParticulAarly touched by your kind words on my namechange , as was all my fault , & by your mention of card < snifles helplessly >

THE misTake I made was worse than I think you realised , Showttime -that I accidentally posted into a thread I was watching from Notepad Shock I reported & asked for it to be removed , which was eventually done . I feel as though have exposed us unecessarily , so sorry , all.

Delighted to see lovely profile

Hope Nilgiri has found the long weekend really worthwhile , with more spoons than anticipated.
< decorates summerhouse with lavish blooms found in supermarket bargain section >

< puts out pot of choc and warm rugs >
< rolls up sleeves for cybercleaning >

futuredream · 15/05/2012 12:35

AfternoonBlush all , - dormousing & bustling here, but glorious sun , teamed with cold , strong winds - hope we all have a spot of brightness

Hope you're recovering from holiday , Upward , and Nilgiri* from her visitors ... today seems a good day for dozing in our steamer chairs , perhaps after a potter in cybergarden in a warm sweater ...
Hope you're having a relatively OK day physically ,Showtime ...must be very blustery where you are , which I imagine suits the character of the area ? < ignorant but invigorated by breezes >

Brews and herbal Brews
< off to play another game of "catch" with beagle >

futuredream · 15/05/2012 16:45

Hope we're all OK today , and that Showtime isn't having extra discomfort , as we usually tend to see her by now

Brews and sparkling apple drinks

< adjusts parasols & rugs over cybergardeners snoozing in recliners on lawn >
< ushers beagle to end of cybergarden ,>

futuredream · 15/05/2012 17:08

... In fact , I remember you were hoping to get out today , Showtime , so I hope that was possible
Your tomatoes being ready to go out is a lot better than ours are managing , but they are growing quickly now , after their slow start Smile

Showtime · 15/05/2012 19:05

Sorry about delay posting futuredream, had to rest after shop, then it was time to eat again. Tomatoes are getting too big for pots, only reason I'm putting them out, as no flowers yet so I doubt you're really behind.
Will try to get back later, but been busy today.

futuredream · 15/05/2012 22:33

No , Showtime , I'm sorry for my slight frettings - just as I'm trying to persuade us all not to feel under any pressure to post Grin I know we can all use our common sense about spoons .

Glad you were able to go out , and hope you have a restful evening . Ah , thank you for tomato consolation Smile Empathy on the busyiness , me too ... am annoyed with myself for having put an important item into an even Safer Place than previously , plus haven't found other uitem at all < tuts at overzealous self & tries to find one of her notepads >

Saw a nerve-wracking event this mornng ... neighbour's companionable crows were making calls of alarm at top of next door's apple tree , & other birds were flying for cover , including large pigeon . Then Dh spotted a hawk diving - and the brave crows flew over to drive it off ! Was very worrying , but I heard a contended-sounding crow call this afternoon , & there's only
one pair for a good distance , so.... < goaty toes >

Brews and a small log on the fire < peeks at crescent moon >
Hope 8Upwatrd and Nilgiri* have both had exceedingly restful days

Nilgiri · 16/05/2012 00:18

Hot chocolate! Thank you, futuredream!

Shock at hawk attack. I suppose hawks have to make a living too, though...

Upward so glad about your great weekend!

Showtime you sound incredibly busy and productive - and with lovely sunshine to do it in! So good to hear!

I've finally discharged visitors for this tranche - sure there are more due in another month or so but can't even remember who they are!Confused But I'm very lucky lovely people still want to visit after the Pyjama Years when I didn't really keep in touch even the ones who just needed a stop over.

Hope everyone sleeps well and awakens with plenty of spoons.

Showtime · 16/05/2012 00:46

Thanks for news of crows, futuredream, we seem to have mainly seagulls here, so have almost stopped noticing birds. Your DH was lucky to see the hawk actually diving, but glad he didn't see a kill.

Hope lost items turn up soon - do you ever think of these things first thing in morning, while brain's getting into gear? Don't know why this often works.

Thanks for the Brews, including hot chocolate, and for making us all so comfortable, as usual. I shall be off to bed again very soon as not even chocolate can keep me awake.

Glad you've managed to cope with visitors Nilgiri, and you've done amazingly well to have such a stream. Thanks for good wishes for tomorrow's spoons - we're due good weather and I'm due a visit from helper, so am hoping garden will benefit.
Goodnight all, and sleep well.
