Sorry , crossposted with you , Nilgiri - for my part , thank you , but I mustn't as would cause real distress - but dearly hope blameless poster can .

Thank you for another beautiful , calming post
< HF snores gently >

Upwardandonward · 09/05/2012 08:25

Good morning all!

Here's some Brew to start the day.

OP posts:
Nilgiri · 09/05/2012 11:18

Ooh, Brew! Thank you Upward.

A bright-through-the-clouds day here; hope others are getting some akshul real sunshine.

Nilgiri · 09/05/2012 16:39

Went out to find why birds were shouting, and found them mocking a magpie. And later saw a robin with beak full of worms. A nest!

Upwardandonward · 09/05/2012 17:22

I'm glad you've had some sun nilgiri, we've had rain here. I am on holiday this weekend coming.

OP posts:
Nilgiri · 09/05/2012 18:22

Oh lovely. Holiday, that is, not rain. Are you going back to an old favourite place (or family) or somewhere new?

Upwardandonward · 09/05/2012 18:37

Somewhere new with family, so that'll be nice. Are you up to anything at the weekend nilgiri?

OP posts:
Nilgiri · 09/05/2012 18:43

Sounds like a good 'un on both fronts, Upward. Now you just need the weather to co-operate.

My weekend will be spent lying flat interspersed with frantic round cleaning: Tranche 3 of visitors due next week.

Tranche 4 coming next month.

And then everybody will go away and I won't have visitors for another four years.Smile

Nilgiri · 09/05/2012 18:45

It's been positive, though - not just to see people but to focus the mind on making the place habitable, which has major plusses for DP.

futuredream · 09/05/2012 19:27

< ndt bounds back to guard duty after gallant stint in Nilgiri's

Apologies for name change ... very happy to see comforting summerhouse , and hope we are all able to be here together for a good doze in steamer chairs

Shocked at all the extra work , Nilgiri , so soon after last set of visitors , and with all your much-appreciated work in vcybergarden

futuredream · 09/05/2012 19:28

Aah , my usual typos meant not enough flowers ThanksThanksThanksThanksThanks

Nilgiri · 09/05/2012 19:58

Yikes at roadworks coming into the house, futuredream! Re-doing your water mains, clearly. I do hope it's not too much disruption for you, especially where you went to so much trouble to make good for landlord inspection. Grr.

futuredream · 09/05/2012 20:56

Thank you for heartfelt empathy , Nilgiri ! Whole road in a grump about it , and as for pussycats with their sensitive ears - new heights of disdainful expressions

When I get the chance am going to plant whichever seeds / sprouty tubers I can find which might still grow ... I did smile wincingly led at a consoling poster on the Gardening board who said not to worry if late with planting -everyone who'd already sown seeds outdoors had seen them washed away Shock

futuredream · 09/05/2012 23:29

Oh my , whaa sultry , rainy night ... niped to shop ( I know just being able to do that ocasionally is a great luxury ) and it was quite dramatic to see all the rain pouring into the storm drains (another luxury)

May the gentle patterings soothe us all to sleep , especially those feeling unwell , and we all dream of the May -time countryside , lush and blossomy

Sorry , slight pc freeziness added to my mistakesBrew

Nilgiri · 09/05/2012 23:42

Much roadwork-sympathy to the sound-sensitive of any species, futuredream.

Can I confess to sharing your love of dramatic downpours as long as I'm under shelter? Standing on a verandah or stoep or cloister as the rain thuds down in lumps, ideally on a hot day but a cold day with impending hot chocolate will do... Fabulous!

Nilgiri · 09/05/2012 23:45

And what beautiful, soothing, bedtime thoughts, future.

Hope everyone sleeps well and wakes comfortable and rested.

futuredream · 10/05/2012 08:38

Ah Nilgiri , what evocative pictures for this warm night - cloisters and verandahs ... I imagine angelic childern sheltering on the steps of simple buildings like this ( never been there , and am sure it's totally standard , but< dreams > )

...Oooops , sorry , good morning allBrews ... was saying still very rainy but had become wildly windy also - this morning is quite still . Howe we all had a healing sleep and can enjoy small treats today < pointed expressions from companion anaimals >

Upwardandonward · 10/05/2012 13:43

Thanks for the Brew

Reasonable day here, a little windy but fine. I hope everyone else is having a good/passable day

OP posts:
futuredream · 10/05/2012 16:01

Aha , so pleased you've escaped the rain , Upward - you must have the tail end of the winds that whipped up dramatically here last night -hope not too much work preparing for holiday

Also hoping everyone relatively OK today

< peeks into cybergarden foxhole to check cubs are growing well >

A fuschia sale at community centre laterSmile

Poor pussycats are fed up with the wet grass and paths , but beagle still keen for his walk Brew

Nilgiri · 10/05/2012 18:05

Fuschia sale... could be dangerous! I've been known to be tempted more than once (surveys pots of fuschias waiting for their "real" homes since ).

Ooh, more cybergarden wildlife! I was going to say the tadpoles must surely be froglets by now - but I've just looked it up and discovered they can stay tadpoles right through to next spring if it's too cold or there's not enough food! So progress may be slow in this weather!

Nilgiri · 10/05/2012 18:06

Oops, to frustrated felines, trapped indoors or soggy outdoors.

futuredream · 10/05/2012 19:28

Aha !!! Thank you , Nilgiri- Dh and I have been peering at the tadpoles in allotment -bathtb for 2 months now - some are gigantic . Why didn't we look it up < tuts>

Very hard to resist the rather exotic delights of the fuschia bloom !
-this sale is by a fuschia growers' society , so not too expensive , and back
to a "good cause"

As to plants needing repotting , I have a couple coming up to 2 years
of waiting < oppressed screams > My berberis seem delighted with all this
rain

Brews
Hope we all have an evening with some pleasant distractions
