Thank you, hob, such a relaxing day here I've actually been asleep! Shocking waste of good sunshine! But much needed after busy few days.

So glad you had a good meet-up today, shodatin. Tell me more about lemon balm tea! I have a plant - gift from the wind or birds - and would love to make more use of it.

snowmash, hope things are going well for you at the moment.

Sleep well all.

shodatin · 20/04/2011 09:45

Morning all, hope snowmash is still able to read bits now and then.
TIANC, there's nothing to the tea; just take a couple of sprigs -3-4"- add hot water and honey if required; it's relaxing, no side-effects that I know.
I don't know how to keep the leaves as a bit "juicy" for drying, but they are only unavailable couple of months a year.
Sorry have to go now..

kizzie · 20/04/2011 10:54

Congratulations Pixie Smile

Very impressed at Shodatin growing own lemon balm !!!! x

shodatin · 20/04/2011 14:07

Sorry had to dash off there.
Lemon balm grows like weeds - no green fingers required, not even watering, so it probably is actually a weed, but Thai friend was taken with the smell and recently came back for more, offering Kaffir Lime leaves in exchange which have a similar smell of course,( and were appreciated by yesterday's Ffriend ) Seriously, am happy to share it!

Yes, congratulations to Pixie- hope they're all behaving well and continue to do so.
Hope snowmash can join us again before too long.

cityhobgoblin · 20/04/2011 16:15

Hi all , & sorry for sluggishness . Hope you feel better for your marathon sleep, TIANC , & that all the dc of the thread will decide on a nap this afternoon before getting hot & bothered...camomile or lemon balmBrew Brew Brew Brew

Still amazed at shodatin 's lemon balm & astonished it's cropped up in TIANC's garden.
Your kaffir lime - proferring fFriend sounds lovely , shodatin ( another thing I thought grew only in hot climates ).

< waves back to kizzie > Hope madmouse & mousling & pixie clan have some fun today.

Hope the side effects start to lessen very soon , snowmash , & that you begin to feel more steady . In the meantime , I really hope you will gradually regain the ability to rest as much as possible rather than having to keep battling your fear or even trying to be positive , as they must be exhausting.

Catching up with household tasks here & enjoying amazing hot sun

shodatin · 20/04/2011 16:43

Sorry for muddle hob, Thai friend had bought Kaffir lime leaves at Asian cash&carry, we haven't grown them in sunny Yorkshire-
Don't even have sun anymore, nasty sea-fret instead this p.m.

snowmash · 20/04/2011 20:58

Congratulations pixie !

Big hugs madmouse

We do have a (smokers) garden with access whilst people are smoking.

I'm definitely having side effects, but a bad few days in other ways too (furniture taken out of my room).

Hope everyone's as well as they can be.

shodatin · 20/04/2011 21:26

Hi snowmash, good to hear from you but a shame about the continuing side-effects; I do hope you get fewer as time goes on. Why have you lost furniture from your room? Have you been jumping up and down on the bed or something? Seriously, I'm concerned that they've done this, what reason did they give? So sorry you're still having problems. Are you allowed in the smokers' garden just for a change of view, or is it more for emergency nicotine?
You're always very welcome in the cybergarden, cigarettes or not.

ThisIsANiceCage · 20/04/2011 23:00

So good to see you, showmash. But really sorry you've had a rotten few days. Sad I have fingers and toes crossed that the side-effects are temporary and the worst bit's nearly over.

So glad you have access to even a little piece of outdoors. I've thought of you each sunny, blue morning and hoped you would get a little bask.

Very well here, thank you, as have just finished proofing/commenting on a friend's dissertation. Has taken a fortnight so big apologies that I've been barely here for while, but I'm now free! Hurray!

ThisIsANiceCage · 20/04/2011 23:31

shodatin, thank you so much for the lemon balm tea recipe - I shall copy that out. Went to check plant, and ahem, think I'll wait a few days. And then I'll be washing the leaves very thoroughly (now smothered in soapy aphid killer).

So meantime will make do with mint tea: ordinary brown tea with large sprig of mint thrust in. Yummy hot or cold, tho it goes an alarming, oily orange in fridge (how?!).

madmouse hope things are clearing a bit for you, and mouseling is still doing well.

shodatin · 20/04/2011 23:37

Glad you've been busy TIANC, and not having to rest and recover from ill-health. You do deserve a frolic, and so does snowmash.
My bed is more attractive at the moment, and have a lot to do tomorrow so will say goodnight.

ThisIsANiceCage · 20/04/2011 23:40

Sleep well, hope busy tomorrow goes well.

cityhobgoblin · 20/04/2011 23:50

Blush thought that might have been a bit exotic for your micro -climate , shodatin ! Blooming shame about your sunshine swanning off , though . Lovely phrase , "sea fret".

Sad Very sorry you've had further stresses , snowmash . Yes , what are they doing removing furniture - is it for health & safety ?
So glad you have some outdoor access .
Brilliant to hear you & really hope the side effects diminish rapidly now.

I can't believe you've managed to do all that in a fortnight , TIANC - you must be so pleased to have achieved that - in the warm , sleepy weather too. Have a joyous frolic in the blossomy evening air .

Hope madmouse , pixie clan and kizzie have a peaceful night. Been a cheery day here with kids playing in gardens , the local cats & horses all loving the warmth & several types of bird trying out their warm weather songs - I hope our cyberbirds are doing well.

ThisIsANiceCage · 21/04/2011 00:03

So glad you had a good day in the sunshine, hob. The air has smelt just gorgeous, hasn't it? Really properly summery!

But suddenly that bed idea sounds like a good'un.

Hope everyone gets some quality rest, and tomorrow is as good as it can be for all our different circumstances.

kizzie · 21/04/2011 11:19

Lovely to hear from you snowmash. Sorry (!) its been a rotten few days.

Im off work today - once ive got the boring 'must do' household bits n pieces over with - will be thinking of you as potter about and try and save a beautiful old rhodadendron (SP!) in my garden. I think its been there for decades but is really looking worse for wear this year - garden centre says the bad winter has finished some of them off - but have given me some tips to try and revive it.

Take Care everyone x

shodatin · 21/04/2011 11:41

Hi Kizzie, glad you might be able to save rhodedendron - someone else might be interested enough to check the spelling, meanwhile we all know the shrub you mean -and wish you success with this. It's sad when one of your precious plants is damaged, and this is the worst winter I can remember, with local friend losing roses Sad. Hope you enjoy the day off.

shodatin · 21/04/2011 13:54

Have almost finished my own boring chores and looking forward to gardening, namely planting out 6 Nemesias, an early birthday gift from Ffriend who called yesterday and such a good idea as I think everyone's lost at least one item during last winter, leaving spaces to fill in.
After all the Lemon Balm discussion, I plan to plant up some of the self-sown seedlings before I forget, as they seem to be a feast-or-famine item, like the Limnanthes (still searching by the way hob!
It has only now occurred to me that quite possibly snowmash is bored silly by the subject of gardening, and wishes her gnome-like friends would go away and take over someone else's thread, or at least change the subject now and then - what do you think?

ThisIsANiceCage · 21/04/2011 17:19

Ooh *kizzie, good luck with the rhododendron.

But, ahem, yes, snowmash, so tell us to change the record if our endless plant wittering is boring you rigid.Blush Hope you've had an OK day today, btw.

ThisIsANiceCage · 21/04/2011 17:19
cityhobgoblin · 21/04/2011 17:39

Hi , hope kizzie's rhododendron is feeling better for the TLC , & can pull through , & that shodatin has enjoyed her time planting outdoors .

You may well be right about all the gardening talk ,Grin at "gnome - like friends " & maybe snowmash would enjoy chatting about some of her interests as she hopefully begins to feel better physically . If she's too polite / modest to mention a subject , I'm sure there are some good ideas around to start us off ...snowmash has professional knowledge of medicine / science I think , & goes to several sung church services a week - wonder if she would like some Early Music as her phone probably can't access the i-Player / listen to radio 3 at the same time each week?

That lovely summery outdoor smell is here too TIANC & I trust you're still frolicky , albeit pacing yourself for the weekend .

Still searching for the Limnanthes here too shodatin - we will find some ! - & what a gorgeous early gift from your fFriend .

Hope pixie clan & madmouse & family getting some time for play & hobbies before Easter weekend as family visiting / church work in case of the mice can eat up too much quiet family time .

cityhobgoblin · 21/04/2011 17:41

Thank you for the Brew , TIANC

ThisIsANiceCage · 21/04/2011 18:03

Thank you for the frolicky thoughts, hob! Have been doing some satisfying spring-cleaningy chores, which definitely count. Altho Blush about timely pacing nag. Oops, bang to rights, guvnor.Blush

Hope your day also good, and you too have been out frisking!

kizzie · 21/04/2011 18:05

I've got knowledge of crap telly [bublush] to add to the mix.

Ive done all I can for the plant

shodatin · 21/04/2011 22:05

.
Thanks TIANC, and for proper spelling

I'm all for some Early Music, but have not yet accessed any via laptop (backward old biddy here) Wondering if Choral Evensong is still on R3 Wednesdays at 4p.m.?. Or if it's accessible?

Kizzie you found some bunnies! Marvellous! [busmile]
Am certain plants respond to TLC, so you've probably done some good today
