hello Smile

Morning all, hope we all had a good night, and that upward managed to sleep right through. Many thanks for loan of super-cat, hob, I slept well too and with warm feet.
I'd enjoy a Meeting for Worship certainly, but have never been to an outdoor version. I can be distracted by noise while indoors, especially on a bad day, but would be very open to a trial if you could provide direction. I suppose we could have some suitable music just audible from another part of the garden, so that upward might feel more at home?
Before I forget, I think it's time for a Brew

cityhobgoblin · 19/08/2011 10:30

Morning everone , & hope you've got weather as beautiful as it is here - torrents yesterday , cat - blissing sun today .

Won't be able to post again till later today so will be sending good wishes for upward's continued progress & faith in said progress , & hopefully we'll come up with fresh ideas to help you feel realistic but not depressed about it . - am in awe of how you've managed to keep your routine etc whilst having these rather unhelpful assessments etc which would floor anyone .

Good wishes too for shodatin's hateful lurgy to flee . Are you still sewing that item of clothing in the colour that's come back into fashion , shodatin < nosey ? > You manage many projects & Idetermination to not let puzzling get her down

Hope hOPE madmouse , kizzie, TIANC & butterpie have a good day

Upwardandonward · 19/08/2011 13:38

An MfW sounds like a great idea - I've only been to one. It's unfortunate that where I have lived the Friends have always been up steps.

Thans for the good wishes, hob - the crisis team have decided they are greeting me this weekend Confused , so I'm hoping that goes ok [was told today that lots of people are concerned about me, difficult to find an answer to that one].

Thanks for the Brew shodatin - did your tv get sorted in the end? I hope the sleep helps you feel more recovered today.

TIANC , madmouse , kizzie and butterpie , hope you all have fulfilling times.

shodatin · 19/08/2011 16:08

I do hope you enjoy the planned greeting, upward! Never heard of this but I can only hope it's fun. Recovery continues thanks, and today I had previous tv man plus friend, while expecting aerial man. They fixed all three tvs (including an old portable provided by a friend when the official BBC-Installer said he couldn't get the main one to accept scart fixing) and after providing another box plus fixing gadget for aerial, charged grand total (3 visits) of £45, which was a nice surprise and worth the wait. Have never owned 3 tvs before, even while in hotel business. Are you ready for the all-digital day?

Upwardandonward · 19/08/2011 16:24

That sounds great about the tv - I'm glad you're sorted! I get some digital at the moment (and bad analogue), and I'm hoping it will improve when we switch as the signal will be stronger. Re: crisis team, I think it's to make sure I'm keeping myself safe, so hard questions :(

shodatin · 19/08/2011 17:23

Am sure you'll manage just fine with the "greeting", upward, and thank you for explaining it. Crisis team in this area were wonderful when I was in touch, just permanently rushed, but am now convinced the system works, once one is involved.
hob, the back-in-fashion-fabric used to be called Provencal print, tiny bunches of rose-buds on dark background, and thanks for the reminder as it is still incomplete and just might manage to finish it after tomorrow's planned shopping. Hope you're having a good day with nothing stressful.

Upwardandonward · 19/08/2011 17:42

Mmm - good to hear that from you as I haven't had contact with them before (don't know if it's phone or visit). Getting through the weekend is the important bit.

I hope everyone's getting a wind down for Friday.

shodatin · 19/08/2011 22:24

upward, I'm guessing you'll have visits initially, from people who want to do practical things to help. What I experienced was very impressive, and I would have been happy to continue indefinitely, but was not of course in permanent crisis. Sorry I'd not realised what you were asking about earlier (brain still in blancmange mode), but am sure you'll have no problems getting through the weekend and I sincerely hope you benefit from all the very varied things these people can do to make life easier. Please let us know how you get on, or PM me at any time if I can help with details.

cityhobgoblin · 19/08/2011 22:42

Hi lovely peeople , & sorry haven't been about as have been visiting family - turned out to be a day of v special memories Smile but overdone it so must snooze .

Am sorry if the crisis team visit is worrying you upward , & I'm concerned for how you might be feeling after this difficult fortnight or so , so am with shodatin on hoping we can be of help in any way .
So pleased you liked the idea of MfW Smile& hope you can get a reasonable amount of sleep . Thoughts & prayers to you .

Brilliant news about TV s shodatin , what an excellent deal . How have you been feeling today ? The fabric I was asking about is a gorgeous one , thank you for satisfying my curiosity !

Peaceful night if I don't manage to creep back llemon balmBrewBrewBrewBrew

shodatin · 19/08/2011 22:57

Glad to see you're back, hob, and so pleased it was a day of special memories for you. You must be exhausted now, so hope you can relax with the Brew, your DH and pet cat, who is probably also very pleased you're home.
I plan an early night too, although it's good that I could lie-in tomorrow and not have to be up early for tvs or deliveries or even dear friend calling in early.
Hope you both feel the same, despite upward's proposed meeting, which I hope is at a convenient hour. Goodnight now, and sleep well.

shodatin · 20/08/2011 10:18

Another beautiful day, and I'm looking forward to going out (car) as soon as temp. settles.
Hope you're now recovered from yesterday's activities, hob, and that upward's greeting goes well with the new team - thinking of you.

Upwardandonward · 20/08/2011 10:41

Morning everyone. I hope you got your lie-in, shodatin hob, I hope your recovering from the hard slog.

It is a lovely day here too, shodatin - too busy for me in town, but I'm waiting in for some tables (I'm also missing a sofa, but I ended up having to do a special order because my doors are narrow). It will be a novelty to have matching furniture, as I've always had furnished tenancies before.

shodatin · 20/08/2011 13:20

How exciting to have new furniture upward. Apart from a couple of mattresses, I don't think I've had anything new since we got some cane stuff for the "garden room", two houses ago. Seems like another life, as I've been managing with less since then. I remember you mentioning that you might move, months ago - is this a new home too? Very brave, if you've had a move since first posting last year. Hope you're enjoying the shopping bit, and can find things you really enjoy living with.
I enjoyed being out today, bumping in to half-dozen people I know plus the man-at-the-Post-Office, who is also recovering from a similar virus. It is a perfect English summer's day, so of course nearest town full of visitors and lucky to find parking spaces.

Upwardandonward · 20/08/2011 14:43

Yes, this is a different home - happened just before/during the hospital stay. It will be good when it's all together.

Your day sounds good - it's overcast here at the moment.

shodatin · 20/08/2011 16:03

Congratulations on the move! You've done amazingly well to manage a new address and all the ensuing hassle - however much help one has, there are always items that only the one person can decide. I know I couldn't manage it myself, so pats on back to you, and I do hope you'll be happy there (as well as happy with new furniture - who wouldn't be).
I'm assuming it's a convenient location, remember there is some communal garden and hope you have good neighbours, both quiet and helpful in fact.

Cloudy here too, and a bit muggy, so I'm glad I got outside while it was good, although I seem to have missed the first of the weekend's Skype-ings.
However, good news is that I found my favourite shopping-bag, lost for days, and luckily it was almost empty and not, as so often, full of perishables. Could have been an unpleasant experience in this warm weather of past week.

cityhobgoblin · 20/08/2011 18:18

Evening lovely people , & many apologies for absence - was scrambling to get out - very disorganised of me . Excellent news that you're having the chance to choose new furniture , upward , something very enjoyable yet also substantial . Agree very brave to make a new start & hope you'll have many happy times there Smile.

shodatin , I know how you feel upon finding forgotten bag of perishables - I always have to check receipt to make sure have found everything . Hope you didn't have too many crossed wires with the Skypeing & managed a session after all . Sounds like a great morning , meeting so many old friends . Interesting that one of them has also been laid low with a similar virus to yours , & hope you are resting prudently , < stern > Thank you for wishing me a good rest ( Puss has forgiven absence now )

I'm done in now as wanted to go to one of my silly "events" at short notice , where one of the groups I'm in held a "funeral for the NHS" < cheery > to do with the health bill going to the vote in 2 weeks . We few of us wore black and marched through town with a coffin Grin - was rainy , then brilliant sun came out for leafleting later , town packed & with a holiday feel .

Hope TIANC isn't feeling too horrible physically after trip away & that it was refreshing & will provide cheering memories .
Teatime BrewBrew BrewBrew

shodatin · 20/08/2011 21:36

hob, the events are not silly and sound like fun, as well as being useful and informative, so I'm glad you managed to get there.
I missed the Skype only because I went to bed for necessary rest, and should do this for a while yet, which is not very entertaining, as I think we all know, in fact, I do hope TIANC has managed similar rests to get through the week.

Upwardandonward · 20/08/2011 22:51

Thanks for the compliments - it was the only thing I had to organise at that time, and my discharge was conditional on me sorting the house out (great motivator). Grin

I hope your march wasn't too chilly, hob - when I graduated we all had button badges saying no health cuts (and didn't stop clapping the staff when asked) because there were some ill-advised ones going on.

I'm glad there weren't perishables in your bag, shodatin - done that too often myself.

TIANC , I hope you're engaging in some R&R. madmouse and kizzie , I hope you're both well.

shodatin · 21/08/2011 00:14

I still think you've done well with the move upward, and it must have been a marvellous motivator indeed.
Hope the unwanted thoughts are lessening as the meds become effective; not been mentioned lately, nor the sleeping problems, but hope life's easing a bit.

Must say goodnight as not as much energy as I'd like. Wishing a relaxed evening to hob too, after exertions.

cityhobgoblin · 21/08/2011 12:07

Morning all . So sorry for silence last night- very sleepy ! Really enjyed catching up on the interesting posts on upwards thread this weekend . Hope a peaceful night was had & that sleep etc has improved somewewhat, as shodatin* mentions .

Love you & your fellow graduates' protest at unwise cuts , upward , absolutely fascinating . I'm sure you have very useful thoughts on the consequences of these decisions .

Sympathy at tedious naps , shodatin , but it will of course help you better enjoy waking hours .

Hope TIANC will have good memories of trip to sustain her if she needs extra rest time afterwards .

Am smiling looking through photos of Friday's family visit ; my auntie rescued a sparrow hatching from an egg dropped on the ground & has been handrearing it with tweezersful of mealworms Grin. When we were there she started trying to persuade it to fledge . We watched it trying to understand what it should do next , until it decided to return to its (outdoor) cage till another try . Its quite unfazed by her little dog leaping up to its cage & barking playfully .

Hope we all enjoy our afternoon ,though we're thinking of you if you have visitors you'd rather not have to , upward < solidarity emoticon >
Hope you get nice Skyping done , shodatin , & that your energy increases day by day .BrewBrewBrewBrewBrewBrew

cityhobgoblin · 21/08/2011 12:12

Ooh yes , thank you upward , we weren't too chilly yesterday as the rain gave way to baking hot sun . Hope you get some sunshine soon in your area - drizzly & misty here now .

shodatin · 21/08/2011 14:55

Thanks for posts, hob, you must have been exhausted after yesterday, but thankyou for the story of auntie's nestling - how very patient she must be, and so few survive so long, I understand. I wouldn't know where to find a mealworm, so a resourceful person too. It must have been enjoyable to see it unafraid of the dog, and comfortable in it's cage for now. Arriving in the egg,it's life probably seems perfectly normal, and what a joy to have around.

Another beautiful sunny day here, and have enjoyed being in garden for a potter. Have also replaced final two bathroom fittings, which have been cluttering up the place for weeks, due to my lack of energy and ambition - a good back-to-normal feeling.
Hope you've now had the planned contact with crisis team upward, and that all is well and you can enjoy the lovely weather too.

madmouse · 21/08/2011 15:25

Sorry for the absence. Just popped in and noticed 998 messages. So...
