oops - Biscuit

cityhobgoblin · 28/04/2011 22:58

at myself

Butterpiecrimearea · 28/04/2011 23:03

Hi, Yes, I've been following all this for a while - hope you don't mind!

What do you want to know? :D

cityhobgoblin · 28/04/2011 23:12

Hi all - yes, had a good day thanks TIANC, as I hope you did . Think there'll be lots more "national silliness " soon in honour of the Olympics ( by the govt , not so much the public )- we could have a huge range of sporting emoticons
< notes self hasn't managed to come up with any witty questions for Ms Middleton from the Marxist perspective > - threads full of MNers fizzing with wit have humbled me

Missed the ISS too , humph , but it's so balmy that I hope snowmash , shodatin, madmouse , kizzie and pixie have all found time to stargaze & compare constellations with our cyber ones

ThisIsANiceCage · 28/04/2011 23:24

Glad you had a good day, hob. But how annoying to lose a post. Pah!

Come in, Butterpiecrimearea, as hob says, have a Biscuit. In fact, have a [cbiscuit].

shodatin · 28/04/2011 23:46

Thanks for mention of us stargazers hob, but I won't be doing much this evening - too cloudy here and couldn't see either ISS pass. Not very warm either, so am glad we have the cyber-garden with the Brew available.

Have forgotten why you were planning questions to KM from a Marxist point of view, although it's an entertaining idea. I'm only mildly Marxist and wouldn't have enough interest in the answers, so can't help I'm afraid.

Hi to Butterpiecrimearea, I'm curious why you chose your nickname, so won't tell you to go away, but it is almost my bedtime so might have to catch up with you tomorrow.

Butterpiecrimearea · 29/04/2011 00:25

I chose my name because I always use Butterpie because I love pie, and the butter pie is almost exclusively eaten in the town I came from, and just change bits of it to make myself slightly less searchable. I put crime area after it, as the other night someone said they live in a high crime area and I misheard it as "pie crime area" and I thought that was funny Grin because I'm ever so slightly obsessed with pie. What can I say, I'm a Lancashire girl, pie is our main foodstuff!

I'm over in mental health and lurking on your thread because I suffer from mental health problems. It would seem to be bipolar with psychosis, with a bit of general anxiety chucked in there to keep things interesting. You all seem lovely.

shodatin · 29/04/2011 00:49

Thanks for the name info, Butterpiecrimearea, and for today's laugh at pie crime. Am still baffled because have never heard of a butter pie before (being the other side of the Pennines) but am generally in favour of any pie at all.

Sorry to hear about your mental health problems, but some of us have some problems too, as you've probably gathered. We are indeed all lovely !

Have to say goodnight now, before I go to sleep before reaching bed.
Night all. Hope snowmash likes pie too.

Butterpiecrimearea · 29/04/2011 01:00

A butter pie is the ultimate in pie. It is potato and onion, cooked in butter, so it is all creamy and lovely, and put inside pastry. Some people cut the top off and add grated cheese.

I live in the frozen north now (otherwise known as Tyne and Wear) and I make visitors import butter pies for me when they visit :o

Anyone ever needs to know about pies and the various flavours and filling, just ask! :o

ThisIsANiceCage · 29/04/2011 01:34

Night shodatin, sleep well.

And sleep well all, off to bed with my own pie-eating Lancastrian.

cityhobgoblin · 29/04/2011 02:11

"Am generally in favour of pie "Grin Is it a bit like Homity Pie , which is potato & a moderate amount of onion , often topped with grated cheese - but not very buttery , &often needing more seasoning. . Butterpie sounds perfect . < hopes for pie emoticon but recognises this would worsen ever -present temptation for self >
Eeek , sorry butterpie , I crossposted & didn't see , then dh nipped in to use Spotify & stayed ages. Didn't mean to try to demand details so brusquely but good to know you've been following & rooting for snowmash . Sorry for MH problems & hope you find good support on the MH board. You sound like you'll find plenty of ways to get us all chatting ! Hope you enjoy our cybergarden.
Sleep well shodatin ( the KM / Marxist thing was born of my wailing about a "hobgoblin" with verbose posts like mine , eagerly questioning Kate). It's nearly your birthday , I believe , but are you too shy to admit if it's tomorrow or , as I suspect , a day or 2 later? Hope you don't mind but we want to celebrate !

Oh my TIANC, the Marxist biscuit is not automatically an austere biscuit. We must form committees to assess resources in our ( local? ) area , rank biscuit - baking in order with other needs - by democratic voteing - then prioritise & use our ccommunally - owned means of production to bake the most popular biscuits , but preferably a range to suit many tastes. (hmm, sounds like AV - may be on less Marxist territory now [cbiscuit]

Peaceful night all . Would be brilliant if the hospital put on a little do for the wedding , snowmash.

shodatin · 29/04/2011 09:31

Morning all - amazing you were still going at 2a.m.hob and telling us how to make a Marxist biscuit - are you sure you want to be involved with this thread, butterpie? Am personally more interested in the pies, as Hominty is also new to me, and would prefer either to a birthday cake.

Birthday is1st May, or International Labour Day as Mother made sure we knew, but these days small celebrations extend both sides of the date in order to be in touch with scattered friends and family, and I rarely have a big day now.
However, since DH died, I do buy self a present every year, which I enjoy.

"Butterpie*, snowmash actually started the thread, and rest of us joined in as unofficial support system, so I hope she's interested in pies as well.

shodatin · 29/04/2011 09:34

p.s. sorry have messed up word emphasis this morning - probably need more Brew

cityhobgoblin · 29/04/2011 11:44

Morning all , sorry if too much pie talk Blush & hope snowmash is getting a chance to have a giggle with friends on the ward around the the TV atm . Wonder what you think of the music , snowmash

Thank you for answering about birthday ,shodatin, like the sound of your Mother ! Love British Mayday traditions too. Is it Borders Morris where you are ( basic , I know , must lookk it up )
I have been wondering this week whether to - very insensitively - ask you if you are widowed as I was finding it hard not to blunder about it in conversation . I remember you mentioned a table you & dh set up in the garage for your seedlings . I wish your dh could be as obviously with you for the scattered celebrations , as I'm sure he is in spirit . Hope you enjoy the pressie you find this year.
Hope also that your sister liked the wedding coverage & you enjoy a chat later

Are you astonished at the pomp & crowds today , TIANC? Looks more surreal to me than Diana's wedding did , as though they're dollies.
A pie -eating Lancastrian sounds a fearsome thing .

Hope everyone has a brilliant bank holiday

madmouse · 29/04/2011 11:59

Hi everyone

Wondering if snowmash is feeling well & awake enough to watch..

Sleep deprived here and feeling rubbish over some silly things. Nevermind mousling in nursery despite heavy cold (little trouper) and I've been watching the wedding (love the dress) then off for some rare clothes shopping on my own. Not a keen shopper but am being confirmed in two weeks and want to wear something lovely.

shodatin · 29/04/2011 12:38

Hello hob, Afraid I don't know much about May Day traditions (apart from being May Queen at school one year!) and have not always lived here so I don't know anything about Borders Morris Blush. Thank you for being so tactful - Yes, widowed indeed and son is adult, so quite used to being alone and grateful for friends as tiny family mainly abroad. DH was always generous with presents, so I enjoy small compensation of buying myself something super every year.

Hope you have same enjoyment buying yourself special dress for confirmationmadmouse, a once-only occasion to celebrate, and hope you can avoid catching mouseling's cold.

kizzie · 29/04/2011 14:03

Getting excited for madmouse re confirmation dress :-). Thought Kate dress beautiful. Managed to get quite carried away with the wedding !!

cityhobgoblin · 29/04/2011 18:37

Hi , out longer than expected & not back long enough to answer shodatin's lovely reply - you are patient with my silly diversions - but wanted to wish everyone a good evening , especially snowmash xx

shodatin · 29/04/2011 20:49

Hi kizzie, yes, I liked the dress too, but not the veil - maybe heirloom as looked old-fashioned I thought. I knew the evening TV programmes would be mainly wedding, so delayed viewing dress until the news. Glad there were no unpleasant disruptions for their big day, and hope snowmash managed to see the most interesting bits. I can understand why DS was interested in the spectators yesterday. A lot of people had a good day (self included at home)

shodatin · 29/04/2011 23:42

Night all, sleep well. Hope you're OK snowmash.

ThisIsANiceCage · 30/04/2011 00:14

at all this pie-talk! And the Marxist BiscuitBiscuitBiscuit. Heh heh, my commune would definitely rank biscuit-making high in the list of "needs". Below Brew tho, obviously! Grin

Glad you've had a good day, shodatin. I'd wondered about your DH, too, as he seems so present in your writing. Very sorry to hear you're widowed. Sad But what a brilliant idea, to buy yourself a pressie each year. Very affirming, and rather lovely.

Hope madmouse's shopping went well, too, and was a good distraction from the depressing stuff. Poor snuffly mouseling - and sleep deprived parents.

ThisIsANiceCage · 30/04/2011 00:20

Hmm, I found this wedding less surreal than Diana's, hob. Hers seemed entirely formal (tho I was teenage so hardly a mature judgement). But this one seemed quite personal. Even the honour guards were just the boys from the regiment/squadron marrying off one of their own. Agree with everyone, Kate's dress lurvely!

And I loved that commissioned motet by Paul Mealor. But surprisingly not the new piece by Rutter - for a moment thought we'd wandered into The Lion King! I know I'm a heretic - maybe a philistine as well...

snowmash, hope you've been having as good a day as possible, and the wedding's been good entertainment or distraction on the ward.

ThisIsANiceCage · 30/04/2011 00:24

Definitely bed-time here as well.

Hope we all sleep well - especially madmouse who's owed some quality shut-eye.

cityhobgoblin · 30/04/2011 09:50

Morning all ! [cgrin] at bunting flapping . Bright here after a torrential rain shower that brought out toads !
shodatin, thanks for telling us your circumstances and making sure to reassure us as you knew we'd be fretting about you. How nice that your dh was always a generous gift giver & you have found a lovely way to commemorate your bond. Delighted to hear of a son too. I know you have a lively group of friends & I certainly depend on mine ( plus Friends )for dependable "family".
Hope you have a lovely semi - bithday , if today turns out to be one of your scattered ones < panics that it's actually today rather than tomorrow but will lose post if rechecks ( brain is mush this morning ) >
I know logically this was a more intimate RW ,TIANC , but the whole thing upsets me . Good point about the guardsmen marrying off one of their own , & I had a soft spot for Di so am interested in her sons - but I don't like the way some of the public allow ourselves to believe the propaganda . Am still lacking in enough knowledge to comment on your thoughts about the music - did think it sounded like a Disney film at one point !

Hi kizzie, glad you enjoyed it , & I found it very interesting what a good atmosphere there was in my area , a truly special day.

Hope your mind is gradually working through the things which have been getting you down, madmouse, & that your little trouper's feeling better & not passed on his cold.Fingers crossed you caught up on some sleep.

Thinking of you snowmash as ever & hope pixie clan OK.

Need to be out today & am a bit nervous so asking for positive thoughts please ( though all will be well even if disaster strikes! )
