snowmash's cybergarden

We filled up your thread, snowmash! So here's another one.

Neither weather nor circumstance seems to be cooperating at the moment, so I thought we could do with a virtual garden to sit out in.

shodatin has started work already:
"we don't lose anything to the frost here, and nobody thieves our daffs and precious bay trees. Most days will be sunny I think, but sometimes we have rain at night, particularly when we've done some planting..."

And I think it needs a summer house with a chiminea or the like to sit round after dark and toast our tootsies.

Morning , lovely people. Apologies for snoozing reather than answering.
What a pain to lose a post like that , shodatin. Not surprised you were dog tired after your busy week - glad you're pleased with your gardening efforts.
( So pleased about Friends' site / s . Was going to go to Meeting this morning but have a flare up of usual condition so had to postpone. Received newsletter in post though ). Sorry for tmi all !

Grin fab to hear about ds' adventuring madmouse , many thanks ( I admit it was TIANC who asked about mousling's mobility , but we've all been hoping he'd be back to sandpies quickly , & hopefully with greater ease ).

TIANC you are far too kind & have re energised me... I have a glazed look in my eye you know - I want a democratic workers's state - oh yes . Please don''t worry about doing more atm or I'll feel really guilty - btw I saw your hard work on that disability benefit thread & the amount of swotting up & physical effort that takes is far , far harder than leafletting etc. Proper argument on a thread defeats me.
That is quite a coincidence you both have sisters in Africa - thank goodness for modern technology

Hope pixie feels less uncomfortable today & how lovely to hear the twins are so lively - have a strong Brew to keep up Brew Brew Brew all round

Joyous sunshine to all especially snowmash

shodatin · 10/04/2011 15:34

Good news about the dcs, thanks for letting us know about mouseling, am so pleased he's not been slowed down.
Sorry to hear you're unwell again hob, isn't it frustrating. I think everyone else is marvellous to do all the things they manage, but have now stopped feeling guilty because I can't do much at all - it's just like that, life is not fair, etc. Hope it improves for you before too long.

Hope snowmash is feeling philosophical too, or at least enjoying the sunshine while we have it. Please, do try to contact us, we are all wanting to know how you are.

kizzie · 10/04/2011 18:13

Spoke to soon - having a crappy couple of days with anxiety / jitteriness (technical medical term!)
But just wanted to pop in to say hello to snowmash. Hope you can come on and update us soon to say how you are doing. Hope some of the sunshine has filtered through to you xx

Hope everyone else ok x

kizzie · 10/04/2011 18:15

shodatin, hob and TIANC - sorry for moaning - i know youve got far more on your plates x

madmouse - im so glad your little ones op went ok :-)

cityhobgoblin · 10/04/2011 22:06

No way do I have more on my plate than you kizzie ...ime anxiety & the lowered self - esteem it can cause are harder to live with than moderate disability - BUT I'm the least person on the thread least affected by disability in day to day life. I am in awe of shodatin , who tries to be honest about daily life without any details of the actual miserable bits , pixie & madmouse caring for their dc and TIANC who , again whilst never giving details , has harsh struggles with the physical difficulties of daily life . snowmash inspires us all , as I'm sure she has done for many in RL.

You've been making stunning progress to get to min dose and are bound to have bad days ((kizzie)).

Really sorry but I've managed to forget some of what people have said this evening & have to recheck after sending BlushHope everyone has managed a good chunk of relaxation today.
Indeed shodatin, not fair. Hope you had a chance to do some of your Sunday Skyping etc.

Hope pixie& clan have had some fun despite high pollen count today - does DD need to stay indoors for that :( - sorry, saw you mention that.
Soothing herbal Brew Brew Brew for all

( For kizzie , if I may be so rude - apologies to others
I do feel for you as until a few years ago my life was dominated by anxiety ( sorry , tmi ) until , as a helpful side effect of my illness, I stopped being able to sense 90% of the physical feelings of stress Grin. This may seem v superficial - anxiety is mental in origin , surely - but as I don't have depression either , I don't even need extra coping strategies for much of daily life. ...am trying to say , I know how fortunate I am but was so shocked to find how much harder life had been with anxiety & / depression than I had realised...
I had no idea how much easier life could be . You & all who have that to deal with these issues deserve more recognition & therapeutic support ).

cityhobgoblin · 10/04/2011 22:12

Thank you so much for your good wishes shodatin - I 'm such a lightweight & am already a bit better. Am glad you have reached such a healthy but v difficult accomodation with your limitations . Hope you have a strong sense of there being many ways of contributing to the universe .

shodatin · 10/04/2011 22:16

Is there anything anyone can do to make you feel better kizzie? Some of us feel better for a rest or extra drugs or a chat with best friend etc, and sometimes it's just a waiting game to recover. I've actually very little on my plate, but still get exhausted, and don't know how people like Pixie manage
with a full life plus small twins.
I miss hearing from snowmash too - guess we're all thinking of her and waiting for her life to improve sufficiently to post again.

shodatin · 10/04/2011 23:22

This is where I say "Goodnight", and hope I remember to press "post"".
Thinking of you snowmash.

ThisIsANiceCage · 11/04/2011 00:31

Hi snowmash, thinking of you today, and hoping you've been out in this glorious sunshine.

Heh heh madmouse, that's fabulous about mouseling! The physio will be out of a job at this rate...

Ugh about the cough Pixie. Hope it's short-lived and DD doesn't catch it. Another one who thinks you're heroic coping with twins plus other worries.

I'm feeling a right fraud here.Blush I know I talk about wheelchair dances but I'm only a part-time wheelie. And what's more, I'm Getting Better. So only mild-moderately disabled meself now. Can sulk for Britain, mind, when stupid bike-shop screws up my wheels and scuppers a rare day out with DP (Friday).Smile But as weather, health and chariot obliged on Sat, I've nowt to complain of.

So shodatin & hob, quite likely you're putting up with more much than me. I just whine more.Blush

And kizzie, I don't think you're a lightweight at all! I've had depression and later physical disabilities - and the depression was worse. At least for me. I'm so sorry you're going through a bad patch right now. Hope things pick up soon. Sad

shodatin · 11/04/2011 09:50

Morning all, thanks to TIANC for such a very cheerful post, and so pleased about Getting Better, that's wonderful news, and more power to you (and your wheels when necessary). I don't recall any whining either, just a positive influence, and I'm sure snowmash thinks the same. (Cue for snowmash to interrupt here...)

thank you everyone for your lovely lovely messages x

Pixie - I bet your twins are gorgeous Smile. My two are twelve now but will always think of them both running in different directions with their nappies hanging round their knees Grin.

Morning snowmash xx

cityhobgoblin · 11/04/2011 16:54

Hi everyone- sorry, more (minor) computer issues stopping me from posting till now , argh
kizzie Yes it will be OK , & please don't push yourself too hard ! (no pleasing us Grin).

"Only" a part time wheelie , TIANC - are we supposed to think you 're not qualified to talk about disability experiences & issues , hmmm ? ( I'm still wheel free myself - shocked about the botched wheel repairs). The depression experiences you've mentioned to snowmash have been very intense & sobering , a true achievement to have survived . And you do not "whine" - never - you make us laugh with your wit . Envy Very exciting "getting better"!!! What amazing news.

  • Sorry your cough may be hayfever ,pixie . btw I know when I mentioned your experiences with disability I meant the times your DD has been most unwell - hope she has a reasonable week.
Hope madmouse and mousling have a bit of fun seeing if the botox is aiding new movements in arm , & that it can develop a little bit more strengthh.

What a good way to put it shodatin about us all missing snowmash & waiting for things to improve enough for her to post again. Hope you have some recreation built into your day today shodatin.

Not around this eve so I'll wish everyone a pleasant one now

shodatin · 11/04/2011 17:45

Thanks hob - My Thai friend was here p.m., a friend phoned re another and a get-together, then brother Skyped twice to plan visit tomorrow, and I replied to sister by email, so today was quite social enough. Some rain showers here, wh ich were needed, but hoping for more sun on Tuesday.
Hope you enjoy your evening (and everyone else)

ThisIsANiceCage · 11/04/2011 23:41

You're all very generous and lovely. Have a Brew and a Biscuit as a reward .Grin

Sorry you're still having computer probs, hob. How intensely frustrating. Reading again, glad to see you've improved a bit from a few days ago. And just realised it was you calling yourself a lightweight, not kizzie (oops). You're not, you know. You, wot's savin' the world an' all.

But honestly, what are we like? A sort of inverse !

shodatin sounds like a very social day! We've had that rain too - perfectly timed after these glorious sunny days - and sorted out the waterbutt dripper for our cherry tree pot. And planted the strawberries. Hurray! (no embarrassing pics till the rest of the pots are done and the bags put away Grin)

kizzie, that image of your twins is so lovely! Does it feel like yesterday? Sending you a special cyber-delivery of Oomph to help you face the week. It's exhausting being brave all the time, isn't it?

to Pixie and madmouse

snowmash, thinking of you today ((hugs))

Morning TIANC and thankyou for a happy start to the day, hope snowmash is feeling it too, along with more lovely sunshine.
Have spent more than half my life away from native Yorks. so don't know anything about Four Yorkshiremen - anything like a pacifist version of Three Musketeers?
Today I aim to produce a belated Christmas Lunch - long story - but will be around from time to time, just probably more behind than usual.

cityhobgoblin · 12/04/2011 13:24

Grin what enjoyable post & link , TIANC - am most disturbed if we're declining to that level & I must curb competitive ghoulishness. ( btw I'm very cheery as last night's speaker managed to convince me that capitalism is doomed ) Am particularly delighted at the idea of pacifist musketeers , shodatin - am sure they'd be key to the process.

Absolutely brilliant that you've had a chance to see friends and that today is Christmas Day for a branch of your family Grin. Very merry day to all!

Joy joy joy at strawberries & cherry tree & waterbutt - big works indeed < off to sort out unsown / un potted out / unpruned jungle >

Hope kizzie is feeling confident in her progress , through the ups & downs of the process , that
pixie and DD &twins have a good afternoon & that madmouse and ds are well.

Thinking of you snowmash & how hard the start of the year has been for you... you can probably not imagine much beyond the present atm , but we're all sending thoughts & prayers

kizzie · 12/04/2011 13:39

Hi Snowmash - dont want you to think for a second that we're not thinking of you even though you're not able to post at the moment x

Im going to my mums for a few days with the boys so wont be posting but will still have you in my thoughts.

Hope everyone else has a good few days xx

Ps. Im not even vaguely brave. Just a winge bag really who tries to portray a dash of dignity every now and again.

shodatin · 12/04/2011 16:38

Thanks hob, brother and I enjoyed our delayed dinner, although both completely sober and followed by tea-in-garden rather than crackers.
Hope you enjoy the break with the boys, kizzie and that the good weather continues a bit longer.

cityhobgoblin · 12/04/2011 19:42

Glad you and your brother had a good meal and catch up. I don't drink either - I guess it might make you unwell , unfortunately , but hope you feel the benefits of being alcohol free as I do , much better for mh I find (sorry to sound so pompous).
BrewBrewBrewBrew all round

Hope you & your family have an excellent few days, kizzie - you are brave and hard working , not whiney! !! As TIANC said , v tiring to keep up the bravery (highly applicable to snowmash too of course).

Thank you for your very kind words TIANC . World - saving efforts are mainly to satisfy own ego needs obviously Blush < workers' power emoticon >
Hope your energy levels are reasonable.
Hope pixie's cough not hayfever after all & that madmouse had a good day.

Relaxing evening to all I hope , especially snowmash

madmouse · 12/04/2011 20:36

Hi all

Am quite worried about snowmash - that she's either not well enough to post, had her phone removed or has discharged herself before she was ready - wish she would post something Sad

Mousling doing well - first physio session today and lots going on. Just a bit tough that life is very much all exercise at the moment and even more making him cry than usual....all for a good cause.

Hope you're all ok xx

Oh madmouse I'm all teared up at the thought of mousling having a sob at his exercises , and you having to help him do them . I hope he makes good progress & that you & your dh are being kind to yourselves.

That is bad luck pixie that your locality is so full of allergens . Hope the pollen count this summer is lower than usual for you and DD.

I was wondering whether snowmash's phone might have been damaged or stolen by someone else on the ward . Would be worried if staff had taken it - hard to justify I'd think - but if they think it has the potential to cause her harm then they 're probably allowed to.

I do think it's more likely that snowmash doesn't feel like posting atm , and I'm sure she knows we're sending positive thoughts

cityhobgoblin · 12/04/2011 22:49

PS Had a good day thank you pixie, hope same for others & that you enjoyed your short trip out.

ThisIsANiceCage · 13/04/2011 01:22

Late night hello-goodnight.

Another one fretting about you, snowmash, but telling myself it's a phone issue. There's always a brew waiting in the pot on the stove, when you're up for it. (Thank you hob for keeping it refreshed! And thank you for sharing my fruit-related joy!)

So glad your delayed Xmas went well, shodatin. Nowt wrong w'tea-in-garden.Grin

So sorry mouseling is in tears, madmouse. But good to hear the physio is going well otherwise.

I've been working very hard today, hacking through some stuff on another thread under a cowardly namechange (not to hide from you lot - involves RL people). It's strenuous, but good and long overdue. Thank god for MN...

And now, I need a Brew. And me bed.

Hope you're all tucked up and sleeping. Smile
