snowmash's cybergarden

We filled up your thread, snowmash! So here's another one.

Neither weather nor circumstance seems to be cooperating at the moment, so I thought we could do with a virtual garden to sit out in.

shodatin has started work already:
"we don't lose anything to the frost here, and nobody thieves our daffs and precious bay trees. Most days will be sunny I think, but sometimes we have rain at night, particularly when we've done some planting..."

And I think it needs a summer house with a chiminea or the like to sit round after dark and toast our tootsies.

Yaaaaaay sunshine for pixie and DD.

shodatin · 06/04/2011 13:11

An e-party sounds good, but is a completely new idea to me, coming late to cyberspace. However, I do know about humous, ie One can't make small quantities, so will be along with an appetite whenever you like, or will even bring a small bucket-ful. May I suggest we have that other impossible-for-one-to-have-if-homemade, a similar bucket of coleslaw?

Glad you enjoyed mushroom soup - I've just had The Standby: Toastie with cheese, onion and tomato sprinkled with Lee and Perrins - this is no longer a gourmet household.... Hope snowmash had something more interesting.

shodatin · 06/04/2011 13:16

And to hob, thankyou for being so kind and encouraging. Have not been able to find poached-egg plants, so will ask next gardener who has some.
Grey clouds are going so even The North has sunshine!

cityhobgoblin · 06/04/2011 15:53

" However , I do know about humous " Grin Really looking forward to this homemade coleslaw party , and would like to add yet more bunting and fairy lights .

Are we still going to have an astronomer to guide us around the ( clear , twinkling ) cybersky ? and if our party is at DCs' bedtime , perhaps we could have one of those professional storytellers acting out timeless tales to send them to a dream filled sleep...
< overly soothed and snoring >

Hope you've had a fair stretch of clear sky , shodatin & that you do get those plants - if I see the seeds around , is it too late for you to sow them ?

Hope you're having a reasonable day , snowmash and are having the chance of a decent chat with staff /patients

shodatin · 06/04/2011 17:18

Beautiful afternoon here, thanks hob, even managed some gardening. It won't be too late for the Limnanthes seeds, I think they self-seed year-round once they're in, so would be very grateful if you see any/beg some for me. "Good " insects and bees like them - they should be more popular - and today I found a beautiful bumblebee dead in the garage, not there this morning but definitely extinct now. We do have a problem losing the bees, another reason for planting Poached-Egg Plants (lecture over, sorry about that).

I've always found astronomy interesting, but have yet to stay awake through Prof. Cox's programmes, so would be out with the dcs for part of the party.

Snowmash, hope you had a good day, and got some outside time.

Also hope you have the awkward drug problem sorted now and are feeling better.

cityhobgoblin · 06/04/2011 21:18

Aha , excellent - I bet the allotment people across from me will have some Limnanthes as they all save and swap seeds & I've had some lovely flowers as a result. I'll sow some myself - didn't realise bees love them.. poor extinct garage bee.

Your trays of wildflower mix are coming along well in an improvised cold frame , snowmash , so you can choose which area / s of the cybergarden you'd like to plant them out in . ( I was a coward about just sowing them outdoors with the frosts not finished).

Hope everyone has had a positive day , with TIANC getting a chance to plant her strawberries in pleasing new container soon and pixie and DD enjoying their afternoon together.

shodatin · 06/04/2011 23:56

No further news from snowmash but it's about my bedtime so will wish you
a restful night.
Goodnight all.

ThisIsANiceCage · 07/04/2011 00:17

Sorry I've been so lazy here today - putting quite a lot of effort into the RL stuff this week and all this food talk is making me drool.

Gardening plans sound fab. Will try to catch up tomorrow...

snowmash, hope today was OK for you, and that you got some of this wonderful sunshine.

Night night all you lovely people. Hope you sleep the sleep of the just. Smile

Morning all, with apologies for once again dozing off before saying goodnight Blush. Hope gorgeous warm sunshine reaches all , especially snowmash.
Excellent that you've been able to put extra effort into RL things, TIANC . Brew BrewBrewBrewBrewBrewBrew all round - Outdoors is all warm and dozy , the birdsong sounds sleepy & and the plainest areas are wildly blossomy - much more so than usual - is it the same where everyone else is ?

shodatin · 07/04/2011 10:38

Morning all - Just typed: regret still murky and miserable here but no matter; I'm off out with a friend very soon , and now first sunbeam has arrived, special delivery from hob no doubt, so am feeling I've caught up with rest of world.
Hope you can spend some time outside, snowmash, and that your new arrangements for meds (am assuming) are working well.

ThisIsANiceCage · 07/04/2011 10:47

We're just a dozy bunch, hob! Grin Hope this means you're getting good sleep and feeling the benefit.

shodatin that's marvellous that your sunshine has arrived! Hope you have a lovely time out with friend.

Hope everyone else has some too, and manages to get out in it.

Oh Pixie, fingers and toes and arms and legs crossed for DD. Is that a planned visit, rather than emergency?

Had a lovely time out with friend thankyou, can't see each other very often. Hope all goes well for your DD Pixie, you must be so relieved there's some improvement; let's hope the emergencies are over now. Best wishes for sore throat - does icecream help?

Hoping our garden's other DC, madmouse's DS, will sail through his treatment tomorrow and soon be back baking pies.

cityhobgoblin · 07/04/2011 17:05

Everything crossed here , pixie, who always shows grace under great pressure , while we're mostly oblivious. Hope rotten throat calms down soon.

Glad you enjoyed your time with your friend , shodatin , and hope you can have a restful evening now.

TIANC you do not "whine" about "small things" . Hope you found time for some sunshine.

Yes indeed we're all thinking of madmouse and ds xx

Hope it's not too hard at the moment , snowmash - thoughts & prayers

ThisIsANiceCage · 07/04/2011 19:38

Oh I'm glad you had a good day out, shodatin. Wonder if little Pixie is back from her long day out yet?

snowmash, thinking of you, and hoping that you've made it through another day without too much distress.

hob hope you're well rested today. Thank you, I have indeed been out in this sunshine, preparing for the grand potting-up this weekend!

Been hoping to hear from you snowmash; seems a long time since we had news and all wondering you're OK. Hope it's a relaxing evening for you.

ThisIsANiceCage · 08/04/2011 00:11

Night all, hope everyone sleeps well.

madmouse, will be thinking of you and mouseling tomorrow.

shodatin · 08/04/2011 11:19

Morning all, Hope everyone's refreshed and both DCs recovered from yesterday.
Still hoping to hear from Snowmash of course - I can't even guess what you're up to, but hope there's something enjoyable coming up this weekend to match the beautiful weather.

Enjoy the potting, TIANC, am hoping to get to mine today too.

shodatin · 08/04/2011 12:09

Sorry people - Just lost Friday on last post, so all best wishes for both DCs today
