snowmash's cybergarden

We filled up your thread, snowmash! So here's another one.

Neither weather nor circumstance seems to be cooperating at the moment, so I thought we could do with a virtual garden to sit out in.

shodatin has started work already:
"we don't lose anything to the frost here, and nobody thieves our daffs and precious bay trees. Most days will be sunny I think, but sometimes we have rain at night, particularly when we've done some planting..."

And I think it needs a summer house with a chiminea or the like to sit round after dark and toast our tootsies.

Morning all!

Poor sleep, breakfast and some meds.

Anyone got plans for today?

ThisIsANiceCage · 27/03/2011 13:08

Art'noon all.

Sorry you didn't sleep so well, snowmash.

I have holes to fill in plasterwork - another legacy of the bollocks builders. It's taken ages to find a filler that won't just fall out again (v shallow), but we've now cracked that prob and it's another step to getting the study sorted.

Looks like it's gonna be another gorgeous day here today! What's the weather like your side?

shodatin · 27/03/2011 13:49

Shame you don''t sleep well there snowmash, nobody can feel well without enough sleep. Hope you'll tell consultant about the meds when he's next round, sometimes they can come up with a better alternative.

My Sundays are mainly socialising via Skype and phone - one of them is definitely my turn and I'd forgotten until now- plus I have a home-made Thai meal from the freezer while looking at (part of) Sunday paper. Sometimes I think I should be doing more, but actually I enjoy the day off. Because the sun is shining, I'll probably have stroll round back garden. Sorry I can't tell you anything more interesting!

cityhobgoblin · 27/03/2011 15:44

< creeps in > Afternoon all ! Sorry for rubbish sleep snowmash- wish I could have donated you some of mine, as have only just woken up. I got home after midnight & tried to say hi & goodnight, but couldn't stay awake to do so . Really appreciate your thinking of me yesterday shodatin TIANC (Sorry for strange good morning too- overslept & would have missed coach so texted asked DH to write X and Y for me ( he doesn't read this thread at all, that would be intrusive ) but he'd just written what he could !

Had good day thank you, only few drops of rain - well meaning people who'd gotten up in the night to get on coaches- lots of children too. Also saw v interesting police behaviour . Things turned scary in small parts of the West End after march & there were some surges of panic where everyone one ran from a firecracker / police surge . Enjoyed seeing a wooden , rather than armoured , tank playing well- chosen tunes and propelled not by rollery thing but by vigorous feet for UK Uncut.

Aha TIANC, you have indeed done well to find a way of getting filler to stay put < traumatised by plastery experiences > Sorry you needed so much a sleep

Good about the eating snowmash and am v relieved, in a miserable way, that the nurses know you're not taking some meds. TIANC's post yesterday covered the issues amazingly well , how serious the consequences will likely be. Very glad you can be open about it here and that this week brings positive things and progress and wish you could have a lot more chances to be in the fresh air and just have a bit of entertainment. Sorry that you need distraction but you must feel the need of a rest from all the debating you've having to do.

Hope all have a good afternoon - yep, sunny here again! Hope you've been having a lovely day shodatin
Grin at response to our pleas for her to relax , pixie on her DCs' Sat morning activities " Thankfully I don't have to do any of them

Sorry for solid block- v hard to read and I will work on that

shodatin · 27/03/2011 16:37

Welcome back cityhobgoblin, and congratulations for making the journey. I would have been nervous afterwards too, and glad you're home safe and rested. Need to get some Brew as I've been talking too much today.
Some completely different congratulations to TIANC too, for getting plaster to stick to wall, and for doing something useful rather than _ ---idling about and gossiping _talking to friends and family. (Sorry can't yet manage to cross out words - need another course of computing for idiots)

cityhobgoblin · 27/03/2011 17:12

Nipped back and saw that once again one of the recent posts hadn't shown up, which I find happens sometimes if I use Firefox instead of Explorer - really like the sound of your Sunday, shodatin, especially the Thai meal .
Your wisdom on pacing yourself is having a very good effect on me

Hope nice options for tea, snowmash.

snowmash · 27/03/2011 18:35

Hope plastering and everything else everyone doing went well.

I'm thinking hard as a nurse poked a hole in my reasoning :s :( (shared what I think). It's very difficult.

ThisIsANiceCage · 27/03/2011 19:28

It's painful, isn't it, being challenged like that.

OP posts:
ThisIsANiceCage · 27/03/2011 19:43

Plastering looking good, thanks all. Next stop painting - hope to be well enough to do myself.

shodatin is that from your cooking session with Thai friend (iirrc)? Yummm!

hob I'm soooo glad things went (mostly) well at the demo. I was looking at pics thinking, "Wonder if one of those is hob?" It was incredibly sweet of you to think of us and get your DH to post! I was puzzled about your apparently leisurely start on a demo day: all is now explained!

Can I say a HUUUUUGE thank you to you and all the UK Uncut folks for everything you've done? I'm sorry to have done nothing to contribute towards this demo. Haven't even done any of the Armchair Army things, but will have a look in a few days' time when I should have improved a bit.

OP posts:
shodatin · 27/03/2011 19:49

It's a good idea to talk to the nurses snowmash, they have so much experience, even as TIANC says, it can be painful to be challenged. Did you manage to see the nurse's point of view? Do you think that maybe they are actually wanting to be helpful? I do hope so, also hope you had something nice to eat this evening.

shodatin · 27/03/2011 19:53

And thanks TIANC for saying what I was thinking to hob (and have done even less), am amazed you thought to post to us yesterday.

madmouse · 27/03/2011 20:07

Hi snowmash did the nurse poking a hole in your reasoning really confuse you? Here if you need to talk it through x

Sorry I haven't posted much - have some processing to do - visiting the village where I grew up and went to school and was abused always brings a lot back, more so since my emotions and feelings are no longer frozen. Brought a photo album back from that time and am finding the courage to really look at the photos.

But that's all besides - I'm keeping up with this thread.

Hi to everyone - hope you all had good days

snowmash · 27/03/2011 22:23

I am sure the nurse was trying to help.

Thanks for the fortification.

It is only a small change, but it leaves me with only one reason which, whilst true, hasn't been accepted yet. It is very confusing madmouse. Hugs and I do hope your processing isn't too painful.

Not sure about tomorrow if the Drs don't believe me (though they may leave it til later in the week hopefully).

cityhobgoblin · 27/03/2011 22:31

snowmash you are so brave to share your difficult thoughts with a nurse. I am very glad you're talking it through and it sounds as though she tried to discuss it properly.
Sorry it's painful having your logic undermined- it's a fundamentally very frightening thing even for those not in difficult circumstances (( snowmash))....should make your life vastly easier in the long run though, because you'll be able to get better

Very moving to hear what you've been doing, madmouse , and please be incredibly kind to yourself.

Welled up reading such about hard emotional work , & again at your kindness, TIANC AND shodatin - undeserved, as I regret the years I could have done much, much more in my local organisation, as friends have . So sorry to hear you wishing you could do more - I wish you could you feel loads better physically - but you two are some of those rare people who shine out as having pure souls and great awareness and sensitivity. ( lovely people on this thread, sniff) and being like that is the most powerful way of inflencing your fellow human.

Get me...great progress ,TIANC, & hope you feel much better so you can do more work on it.

Hope you had a good rest shodatin - very envious you've been brave enough to take one course on computing "for idiots!"

Hope pixie & kizzie have had good days. Apologies in advance for jabbering on if the conversation has turned very serious in the meantime - you must be so tired snowmash, after your talk with the nurse on top of little sleep. Hope you can rest tonight.

waing properly

cityhobgoblin · 27/03/2011 22:32

Ah, very good luck for tomorrow , snowmash. If I may say so, it sounds as if you're doing incredibly well.

cityhobgoblin · 27/03/2011 22:33

(sorry for strange typo on end before!)

snowmash · 28/03/2011 00:01

Thanks hob - wish incould be more effusive but phone and time make it hard to post accurately.

Unfortunately it's been kicking off big time here for some time, nowhere near my room because of it, but sweet dreams to all in preparation. :)

ThisIsANiceCage · 28/03/2011 00:39

Cripes snowmash, just seen this!Shock Hope you're safe and things have calmed down a bit, now. So, not really a therapeutic environment this evening, then? Blimey. Buckets of sympathy...

madmouse, that sounds like a huge step, going back to the village. When you need it, there's always a quiet spot in the cybergarden, sitting by the sunlight dancing in the fountain or watching the night stars (maybe we can move the chiminea outside, and leave the stove in the summerhouse. That would work). And there's always a Brew in the pot, to soothe and strengthen.

hob, are you really avoiding well-earned praise and turning it into self-castigation for not doing more?

Love to everyone all tonight. Hope snowmash has managed to get to her room now, and we all sleep safely and soundly.

(((hugs)))

OP posts:
shodatin · 28/03/2011 00:39

Good night and sweet dreams to you snowmash, I'm so pleased you know there is at least one nurse on your side.
Also pleased madmouse and hob got home safely, and TIANC's ready for painting! We should all have a good day tomorrow - night.

snowmash · 28/03/2011 01:08

In my room now, but waiting for later so I can ask for painkillers.

snowmash · 28/03/2011 08:19

Four hours sleep - hope everyone else got more.

Good morning! Brew

shodatin · 28/03/2011 10:20

Morning snowmash - four hours is not enough to function properly, particularly if not well. Would it be worth enquiring about a different hospital or ward when you next see consultant? I'm thinking of somewhere private, as some organisations can provide funds if neccessary- remembering a doctor suggested this to me years ago.
Hope you have a reasonable day, and everyone else.

madmouse · 28/03/2011 10:30

snowmash big hug for you - try to get some rest today if you can xx

Thanks for your kind words all - TIANC my Dad and stepmum still live in the village so I come there at least once a year, but after all my treatment I feel and remember much more making it draining.

cityhobgoblin · 28/03/2011 12:45

Oh no,snowmash, awful timing for you to be kept from your bed. Were your painkillers very overdue?? Hope unit calmer now. Do you have any headphones / earplugs or would they be awkward for you to use?

madmouse, you are a massive inspiration for your clarity and courage on this issue. Lookingforward to your DS visiting cybergarden to make his sandpies.

[GRIN] at TIANC's unconvincing sternness . Hope you gradually feel more energetic this week so you can do more things to your study.

shodatin, the squirrel's just polished off the last birds' fat snacks.... I must set up a suirrel feeding station .... if we can fit one into our cybergarden ouldnear the patio window perhaps, snowmash could be entertained by acrobatics.
I'd order a hypoallergenic squirrel.

Hope everyone has good afternoon (Mn been offline loads , hence late post - hope it gets sorted)

cityhobgoblin · 28/03/2011 12:50

sorry for awful typos
