Is anyone else really thirsty when fasting?? I feel ike i have a funny taste / thirst sensation today and can't seem to drink enough water?!

greengreyblue · 26/01/2025 21:45

No I haven’t noticed that. I do make sure I drink lots though.
Started fasting at 5.30 tonight after a pesto and mozzarella stuffed chicken breast, mashed potato and broccoli dinner followed by an apple. So tired so off to bed now . No alcohol today so will hopefully sleep better than last night.

19 hr fast.
Full of cold today and very tired as I didn’t sleep well.
lunch: tuna salad but should’ve taken something I could heat up as it’s so cold today.
dinner: lean chilli with extra beans/ lentils and half the mince. Brown rice and guacamole.

17 hour fast today.

Mid morn banana and grapes
Lunch was homemade hummus, carrots, low fat yoghurt, handful of mixed nuts
Mid PM snack of packet of crisps and a choc biscuit 🙈
Dinner chicken and broccoli pasta and 2 Xmas chocs

The timer is on!

Ilikeyoursleeves · 27/01/2025 18:12

I found an old program on iplayer about fasting, by Michael Mosley. It was really interesting but poor Michael kept saying he'd hopefully live a long healthy life due to his fasting.

Poor guy, RIP Michael 😞

jumpintheline · 27/01/2025 19:03

He seemed like such a nice man Michael Mosley 😔

16 hour fast today - because I had two chocs at 8pm last night. I had my Sunday dinner at 5pm so it felt like a much longer fast than 16 hours! Progesterone is climbing so I’m hungry as a bear.

Had haricot beans on toast with spinach and a fried egg for lunch. Picked at the kids tea - cheesy cauliflower wholemeal pasta. Handful of grapes. Dinner is gonna be a Buddha bowl.

weight slightly down again at 62.1kg. Don’t expect that to continue this week.. heading into last week of my cycle plus we are going to Amsterdam for DH 40th so have some very nice restaurants booked! Will be relaxing enjoying and not fasting for our trip.

greengreyblue · 28/01/2025 07:47

I’ve listened to all of Michael’s Just One Thing podcasts . Learnt so much from his easy to understand manner. RIP
60.3 this morning so 0.2 sub target. Just marking it here in case it’s fleeting! I’m not well with a cold so that’s cheered me up.

Morning! I am very pleased to report I’ve lost 2lbs this week despite my blow out for The Traitors and I’m at my target! (Bear in mind I’m quite short at 5ft 2)

Starting weight 9st 0lb (1st January)
Today’s weight 8st 7lb! (28th January)
Weight lost = 7 lbs in 4 weeks!

I’ve fasted every day since the new year apart from at The Traitors final and maybe one other day, a mix of 16 to 19 hours mainly. I’ve also done at least 10k steps a day (apart from 2 days), reduced my ultra processed foods and drank more water.

Might keep it going as I quite like fasting and it now feels like a habit. Thinking of being more lax at the weekend now though. It’s been such a great way to lose weight as I’ve still been able to eat the Xmas chocs and have treats along the way hooray!

Keep going everyone!

Ilikeyoursleeves · 28/01/2025 08:22

That's great @greengreyblue re the loss! Hope you feel better soon too

lechatnoir · 28/01/2025 09:46

Well done @greengreyblue & @Ilikeyoursleeves well done both 👏

I'm just back from a very boozy / foodie weekend away and just weighed in - 4lbs up in week😮🙄. We have big hotel breakfasts everyday so out of the fasting habit & already hungry but will push on to 16 hours today (very late dinner & a full on afternoon so need to eat during my lunch hour today) and then aiming to get back to earlier dinners and 17/18 hours fasts for the rest of the week.
4 bloody pounds - so cross with myself as I'd lost that in the previous 2 weeks!

jumpintheline · 28/01/2025 10:21

Well done on the losses!

GrannyInTheGarden · 28/01/2025 14:47

Started at the weekend with nothing to eat after 7pm. Four days of success with that. And it’s easier getting up in the morning.

greengreyblue · 28/01/2025 16:06

Welcome @GrannyInTheGarden I’m with you on the easier mornings.
Wow that’s a great loss in a short time @Ilikeyoursleeves , well done!
@lechatnoir i bet that’s not 4lbs of fat. I reckon 2 will be off quickly if not more.

lechatnoir · 29/01/2025 08:48

17 hours - filled omelette and salad plus some Greek yogurt then sticky thai pork served in lettuce cups with a little rice for dinner.

Annoyingly, I had a piece of chocolate about 9:30pm as I just forgot I was fasting when DH offered it!

greengreyblue · 29/01/2025 18:06

18 hr fast
lunch: salmon salad, an apple
snack after work: celery and carrot with a little peanut butter & sirracha dip.
dinner: pork fillet gyros with dill feta, homemade hummus and youghurt slaw. 5 chips and a flatbread. 😋

GameOfJones · 29/01/2025 18:12

A 23 hour fast and OMAD today of a cheese scone, pumpkin soup then yoghurt with chopped peach.

lechatnoir · 30/01/2025 11:50

No fast for me today - DH & I had the morning off so went for a dog walk and ended up out for brunch. I cannot do daytime fasting when I'm wfh so will just keep it healthy but draw a line under today, have an early dinner and get back on it tomorrow.

greengreyblue · 30/01/2025 16:45

Brunch must be a bit of a fast? Later than usual? So maybe not all bad.
18 hr fast
lunch: salad with olives, feta, hummus and avocado. An apple
snack: handful of mixed nuts.
dinner: will be penne arrabiata. A pear or orange

OP posts:
greengreyblue · 31/01/2025 07:29

Ended up not having pasta as was home alone so had an egg on toast and a banana.
Was up to :61kg this morning. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Will try again tomorrow as my Saturday weighs always seem to be lower. Got a celebration cake to make tonight so will be busy and not drinking.

Have completed almost a full week of nothing after 7pm except a cup of redbush tea. Lapsed yesterday evening with a latte at bedtime, and upset tummy this morning. So, only tea in the evening from now on.

Next is to wait until 10am for eating in the morning. That’s difficult for me as the morning routine with school run then shopping becomes overwhelming. I’ll take a flask of tea for the carpark, and see how that goes.

greengreyblue · 31/01/2025 12:26

@GrannyInTheGarden I actually find I’m much more focussed in a fasted state and get more done.

OP posts:
greengreyblue · 31/01/2025 19:14

All gone a bit quiet.
18.5 hr fast
lunch: little bit of smoked mackerel ion toast with salad
dinner: oven chips with chicken sausage and homemade coleslaw .

Hi all

Just checking in! I recognised that the fasting was bringing out some unhealthy habits for me, e.g. justifying not eating and a binge and restrict cycle. So I've decided to give it a break.

I exercise a lot and was finding myself ignoring my hunger signals all too often.

At an already healthy weight I think I need to be kinder to myself and stop obsessing.

However I will continue with a 12 hour fast ish for now and to eat well.

I may be back!

All the best.

Ilikeyoursleeves · 31/01/2025 20:41

Hi all! I've decided to ease the fasting now that I've reached my target weight hence not posting the past few days. I've been hungry in the evening so have ended up having a slice of toast before bed but still not eating til mid morning. I'm trying to be flexible and tune into my body signals to see if I'm hungry or not.

I tend to do IF to lose weight here and there but I enjoy food too much to keep it going all the time!

Keep up the great work folks and I'll be back whenever I'm back actively fasting ☺️
