I’m holding on to 61.3 like my life depends on it!! Grrrr. Weird how the body works. I’m making really good choices. One thing I’ve noticed this week is I have felt more hungry in the morning before breaking my fast. Actual grumbles and mild stomach aches. Wondering if my body really doesn’t want to go lower. But I’m not too low. At 5ft 5 my bmi is 22.5 which is more than halfway into healthy weight zone. Surely I can drop a couple of pounds?
Edit: just looked back on my phone and I was last 60.3 (just below target) at end of Jan. Had forgotten I had got there again since 24/12. It’s always just before a celebration . Life gets in the way 😂

17 hour fast today

A latte, some oatcakes and a chunk of brie for lunch.

Protein shake mid afternoon.

Spiced parsnip soup, toasted pumpkin seeds, chunk of baguette with butter for dinner followed by a G&T for dinner.

4 mile walk in this glorious sunshine.

GameOfJones · 11/03/2025 09:23

Yesterday

19 hour fast

B - black coffee

L - greek yoghurt with walnuts, raspberries and date syrup

D - buttered chickpea and tomato pasta

S - one bite of DD2's sausage roll, herbal tea

greengreyblue · 13/03/2025 16:21

I’m still hanging in to 61.3. I can’t eat less as I feel it wouldn’t be healthy for me.
Still fasting 18-20 hrs.
Today: lunch of mixed salad with chickpeas , seeds and olives followed by a pear.
About 10 almonds after wrk
Dinner: will be chicken and spinach curry with brown rice and some fruit afterwards.

That sounds very sensible @greengreyblue!

A 23 hour fast and OMAD for me today of a bean burger (no bun) with roast potatoes, red pepper and courgette. Gin and tonic and a few peanut butter pretzels.

I am now finally losing again!

SW: 15st 1lb
CW: 13 st 7lbs
GW: 10st 7lbs

GameOfJones · 14/03/2025 18:02

Another 23 hour fast.

Dinner of thai green vegetable curry with jasmine rice and some prawn crackers. Two gin and tonics.

Rollergirl11 · 15/03/2025 11:01

I’ve had a busy two weeks at work resulting in me being in at 7.30am every day which is an hour earlier than usual. I think this has contributed to me losing a further 1lb as I haven’t been eating any differently. Have been 9st 4 for the past week. Fully expecting it to go back on once I’m back in my usual routine at work this coming week.

@GameOfJones you’re doing well on the 23 hour fasts!

greengreyblue · 16/03/2025 08:15

@Rollergirl11 what are you eating?? I think if I was working earlier I’d be hungrier!

OP posts:
Rollergirl11 · 16/03/2025 11:34

@greengreyblue i am hungrier earlier definitely. But I’ve been ignoring the tummy rumbles and just eating as normal. Which is usually something like hummus, carrot & pita bread or a wrap or a sandwich and a banana. Sometimes if there’s cookies or someone has baked something I might have one of those too. I eat my lunch around 1pm so a full 7 hours after I’ve woken. Then I get home and snack a little bit (little bit of chocolate or some dried fruit & nuts) as I’m starving and then have dinner around 7pm. Dinner is completely normal, I don’t scrimp on portions or cut out any specific food groups. I just eat whatever I feel like. Then nothing after dinner.

greengreyblue · 16/03/2025 15:35

Sounds similar to what o eat except I tend to eat more salads at lunch but with egg/ beans or chicken. If I remember rightly you do t drink, is that right?

OP posts:
GameOfJones · 17/03/2025 09:54

Thank you @Rollergirl11! I only to the OMAD/longer fasts a couple of times a week but am totally in the swing with them now and feel pretty good on them which I would never have believed a year ago.

Yesterday: 17 hour fast

B: a latte and fruit salad

L: oatcakes, chunk of brie, glass of fruit juice

D: walnut and sage pasta with rocket. A glass of red wine.

S: slimline gin and tonic

jumpintheline · 17/03/2025 13:58

I think a 24 hour fast once a week would be ideal for me really.. we're in the midst of moving house currently so I am mainly comfort eating!!

ChoccyJules · 17/03/2025 23:38

Hi, I have been reading the thread and am wondering what OMAD is?
I have been doing 16:8 for six months and have lost a stone but the past two months have just plateaued. I aim to lose another 1.5 stones and would love some tips!

greengreyblue · 18/03/2025 07:27

Hi there. Well done on your loss, that’s fab. It’s one meal a day. So a 24 hr fast or thereabouts.
If you can get to 18/20 hrs it’s not much more of a stretch especially if you’re out and about. I’ve only done it a few times but it’s surprisingly manageable. Good for balancing a heavy day before or if you have a big night out.

OP posts:
greengreyblue · 18/03/2025 07:30

I’m still maintaining 61.3ish. Been 3 months now of around this weight. Think I’ll try an OMAD to see if I can upset the apple cart a bit to lose that last 2 lbs that seems so fleeting. Been there for a day here and there but always gravitate back.

Ah OK, it's easy to see when you know the abbreviation, thanks! Does OMAD seem to be a necessary thing once you have been doing the regime a while? I often stretch to 17:7 due to work timings but have never gone beyond that. But this stalling is annoying after so much hard work.

I rarely do it. Work timings mean I do 18:6 daily and I’m so used to it I do it at weekends too.

Also checking in as not been posting much but still on a regular 16:8 routine sometimes stretching to 17/18 hours if I manage to eat early enough. It's clearly working as I lost 2lbs last week and another 1.5lbs off this week. I am being pretty sensible with my other choices as I'm determined to get this stone off before I dig out my summer clothes!
Yesterday:
L 1pm: Jacket potato with baked beans and a salad
snack of satsuma & pear
D 9pm!: naked katsu curry with a little rice and lot of veg and greek yogurt with blueberries & a
square of dark chocolate

I'm making a big batch of bean and vegetable soup today and dinner is smoked haddock and spinach linguine with lots of asparagus hopefully a bit earlier than last night!

GameOfJones · 19/03/2025 13:55

Yesterday - 19 hour fast

B - black coffee

L - small bowl of bran flakes, three oatcakes with a chunk of brie, raspberries and some mixed nuts

D - wholemeal pitta with avocado and scrambled egg

@ChoccyJules I don't think OMAD is necessary at all if you don't think it's for you. I tend to average 17 hour fasts most days, sometimes more and sometimes a bit less at weekends. I do OMAD once or sometimes twice a week when I'm at work as I'm in constant meetings anyway and don't often get a lunch break so I went for it last year rather than eating something at my desk while I work which wasn't enjoyable anyway. Plus I have a lot of weight to lose so OMAD occasionally feels right for me. I started at 15st 1lb and am currently 13st 5lbs but want to get under 11st.

I need to read up about it and see if it will help kickstart me again. Basically my aim was to lose 2.5 stones and I’ve lost 1 and got stuck.

greengreyblue · 29/03/2025 09:20

Hi everyone. Just checking in. Still skipping breakfast and not eating first meal until at least 12. Not really been paying so much attention to food choices but generally eat well anyway. Hardly any exercise for various reasons and had my birthday so was pleased to see 61.5 still on the scale as has expected it to increase. At 5ft 5 that gives me a bmi of 22.6 . Would like to be 22 to give a little buffer. So, would like to see that last kg come off for more than a day but I’m hoping to get there over the warmer months. Got a little Mediterranean trip over Easter so that will focus me over the next couple of weeks. How are you all doing?

OP posts:
jumpintheline · 29/03/2025 18:54

That’s great @greengreyblue it sounds like a sustainable way for you to get to and maintain a weight you’re happy with.

I’m still mostly skipping breakfast and fasting between 16-18 hours a day. I’m not being great with my diet at the mo - we’ve moved and staying with family temporarily so everything is a bit up in the air. Also haven’t weighed myself in ages. Once we’re in our new place am gonna get a bit stricter to shift some weight before the summer.

GameOfJones · 31/03/2025 18:25

Hi all, I'm still going! I'm averaging 17 hours but with some longer fasts occasionally thrown in e.g. today was 22 hours and I did a 24 hour fast last week.

Food choices are slowly improving. I pretty much only eat two meals a day now and snacks are occasional rather than daily. I'm not counting calories but am focusing on eating more whole foods and more simply in general e.g today I roasted a chicken and some carrots with plenty of herbs and served it with crusty bread for dinner. Simple but really delicious and went down well.

Weight is slowly creeping down. I started last summer at 15st 1lb and am now 13st 3lbs so very close to hitting the 2st lost mark!

jumpintheline · 03/04/2025 13:48

@GameOfJones that sounds great, love roast carrots and roast chicken. Amazing you are close to losing 2 stone, well done. I really think those longer fasts thrown in make a big difference.

GameOfJones · 03/04/2025 19:24

Thank you @jumpintheline! I had my weekly weigh in today and actually lost 2lbs this week so I have officially hit 2st lost down from 15st 1lb to 13st 1lb. Even better is that I'm now officially overweight! Considering my BMI has had me firmly in the obese category for years and years I'm absolutely delighted with this milestone!

I do agree that the longer fasts and mixing it up a bit help.
