Day 1 of this adventure. I’ve got a headache but will soon be going to bed.
My eating window today was 8am-4pm. I’ve got so much to shift & hope I can keep this up. Anyone else want to join?

@Queencam - garrr Christmas, but there is so much nice stuff.

However I’m going to really try this year to use IF to my advantage. So I’m going to do OMAD for work Christmas meals out (2).

Rollergirl11 · 01/12/2024 09:07

i’ve made it to 9st 8! Hopefully will definitely make to my target of 9st 7 by Christmas now. Has made me all the more determined not to undo my work over the Xmas period though so days when I’m eating more than usual I will try and do OMAD.

I have my work Christmas do next Friday, which is a 3 course meal followed by dancing. I would try and do OMAD but I tend to do better when I have my one meal at lunchtime and then not eat anything later on. Not sure how I will fare being at work all day without eating anything! 🤪😬

greengreyblue · 01/12/2024 09:28

Well done @TennisToday and yes @Rollergirl11 , you’re down at 9st 8 with me!😉
I feel the same about Christmas and using the flexibility of OMAD etc to help us out. My work meal is 3 course too and had no choice on that as it’s set. I don’t ever order dessert so will give that away . Have tried to order reasonably. It’s also at a pub out of town so am now thinking of driving as a few colleagues are teetotal anyway . I sound like the Christmas Grinch !😂

greengreyblue · 02/12/2024 15:36

18 hr fast
lunch: chicken salad, an apple
dinner: will be lean chilli with brown rice and Greek yoghurt, guacamole. Fruit.

GameOfJones · 02/12/2024 15:54

A 20 hour fast today. I am going to join you in trying OMAD on days when I'm out for Christmas meals.

Lunch - home made bread and butter. I couldn't resist as the loaf was freshly baked! What I find interesting is normally I'd be starving hungry if I just ate toast but my home made bread fills me up more. Maybe the lack of UPF? Or I'd filled it with lots of herbs and seeds so maybe something to do with that.

Dinner - mixed bean and vegetable enchiladas made with black and borlotti beans, peppers, spinach and courgette.

Snack - one mini toblerone chocolate from a selection box

greengreyblue · 02/12/2024 16:36

@GameOfJones could well be real ingredients in your bread as opposed to UPF bread. Did you watch that documentary with Dr Van Tulken? Was very interesting . The bit about natural satiety being triggered by chewing whereas lots of upfs are very soft meaning we consume more and quickly. So our ‘I’m full’ messages come later.

greengreyblue · 02/12/2024 16:43

Was on BBC2- irrisistible- why can’t we stop eating?

Rollergirl11 · 02/12/2024 17:39

20 hour fast for me. It’s amazing what we can train our bodies to do. I have low blood pressure and historically have been prone to fainting if my blood sugars drop too low. I would never in a million years have been able to go so long without eating. And yet today I was busy Xmas shopping traipsing from shop to shop and it barely registered that I hadn’t eaten anything.

I’m also chuffed to bits. I am getting some new jeans for myself in the Black Friday sales for Christmas. Tried on about 10 pairs in Anthropologie; started off with waist size 29 as that is what I used to be before putting the weight on. They were all too big and had to go for 26 and 27’s instead. My waist hasn’t been that small since pre pregnancy 19 years ago. Has made me realise that weight is just one small part of it and it’s the inches off that probably makes more difference.

greengreyblue · 02/12/2024 17:46

Wow that’s marvellous @Rollergirl11 ! I need some new jeans, mine are gaping now and were wide leg anyway but now wide around the top too! I’m borderline low blood pressure too but nurse told me it’s hydration that matters more than food.

Cashew1 · 02/12/2024 19:46

18 hour fast

Three oat cakes with cottage cheese
Aubergine and tomato spicy pasta

Will have some overnight oats in a little bit

Back on it after the cold, but think I'll avoid weighing for a little bit and just focus on non-scale victories.

Cashew1 · 02/12/2024 19:47

Also keen for omad on treat meal days! Got a work Xmas lunch on Wednesday so that will be the first opportunity of the season. 🎄

Edited

I did watch that, it was both interesting and horrifying in equal measure! I'm trying to swap most of my bread to homemade or good quality sourdough. The basic supermarket sliced is so strange and soft now!

I can’t find it on iplayer?

18 hour fast

Big salad with tofu and butter beans for lunch
Cream crackers with banana and peanut butter
Not sure about dinner yet but feeling happy to be back fasting after a few days off. Maybe homemade pumpkin soup with crusty bread.

Omad tomorrow for work Christmas lunch

Gym this morning too 💪

greengreyblue · 03/12/2024 16:49

Excuse my 18.5 hr fast
lunch: salad made with leftover brown rice, feta, olives etc, an apple
dinner: just making a fish pie with roasted parsnips and carrots.

My mumsnet skills are not up to much so if we end up with a new thread soon can someone kindly post the link here before we hit 1000 so I don't lose this group?

greengreyblue · 03/12/2024 21:03

🤣 thanks!
Oh wow I didn’t realise we were so close to 1000. I don’t think the OP has been back since the early days( unless name changed) so I’m happy to make a new thread.

Octopus45 · 04/12/2024 21:24

Wow, it sounds as if everyone is doing really well.Sort of maintaining here, but very hungry at the moment.I have been eating within my window but not very healthily. I might see if I can can go longer some days but tbh I get quite hangry.
