Day 1 of this adventure. I’ve got a headache but will soon be going to bed.
My eating window today was 8am-4pm. I’ve got so much to shift & hope I can keep this up. Anyone else want to join?

Omg well done everyone.

I was another 2lb down last Sunday.

I'm flagging a bit but still fasting! I'm still not feeling or seeing the benefit but I'm sure it will be worth it. My hormones are all over the place so that's probably contributing to the meh feeling that's following me around.

The next steps for me are maintaining the fasting and adding supplements.

I've also booked my first Pilates reformer session which I'm looking forward to. I'm achy and I'm holding a lot of tension in my muscles. So want to stretch it all out.

Well done on 2lb loss all in the right direction.
Try Floredax for supplement
Good Luck at Pilates reformer; so impressed you’re booked for that.

@Beachcomber74 well done on that BMI. I'm chuffed for you.

Thanks for the support and encouragement I really need it right now.

I'll let you know how badly the Pilates goes! It's a 1:1 beginners session and I'm eating lots of protein atm so am scared of trumping while in an awkward position.

Beachcomber74 · 22/05/2024 23:17

@goingdownfighting Are you eating much in your window? Maybe not enough if you’re feeling sluggish?
My window today was 1-9pm & having eaten at around 8pm feeling quite full going to bed. Am sure you will start to even out a bit esp after the intense Pilates!!!

goingdownfighting · 23/05/2024 08:22

Definitely eating enough, thank you. The protein has dropped off a bit and so has the water so I'll keep an eye on that.

I've got to navigate a weekend away this weekend so planning my fasting period. Luckily it's with my beautiful skinny family who heartedly eat anything and are super fit so I'll be inspired.

chocolatelover91 · 24/05/2024 07:55

Just had my weigh in! Another 3 off! 14 pounds off now since 22nd April! Only another 3 and a half stone to go! 🙈🤣🤣

Beachcomber74 · 24/05/2024 08:43

@chocolatelover91 That’s amazing! Well done!! That is a big haul.
@goingdownfighting enjoy time away with the family
Yesterday my window closed at 4pm but ended up having supper with my daughter felt really difficult not being able to sit with her & enjoy the food so it broke the fast but it was healthy food & as she’s impressionable I don’t want my issues with weight impacting her. I do notice that there are disclaimers at the top of IF info pages saying not advised for people with eating disorders & I can see why as you do get into a stronger mindset following this regime.
Like you @goingdownfighting my family are all tall slim athletic types I am deffo the outlier!!
I am really hoping for 2lbs on Tues as that will take me into the next stone bracket still horrendously high but better than 2 weeks ago.

Beachcomber74 · 25/05/2024 13:52

Hope all well @goingdownfighting are you weighing in tomorrow?
I have just broken the fast at 1pm so it fits in with birthday supper out to celebrate FIL 70th. Whilst deciding what to wear it was nice to have a little more choice rather than just the couple of things that fit so that was motivating. I whizzed around this morning cleaning up for the housesitter who comes to stay with our dog. I was dreading doing it all on a very empty stomach but it was fine & will be nice to return tm to a tidy house.
Dod you weigh in yesterday @chocolatelover91 how did you get on?

Misthios · 25/05/2024 13:53

It works very well for me but I have never been a breakfast person. I usually eat midday to about 8pm.

Beachcomber74 · 25/05/2024 14:13

@Misthios I have always been a breakfast, lunch & supper person with too much snacking in between which is why I knew I needed to to something drastic!! To food focused people just eating 1-9pm seems impossible but now I’m in it it’s surprisingly manageable.

@Beachcomber74 had the best weekend.

Weigh in was a STS this week as it was well worth it!

Also tried on some new clothes which were a 10 so very happy.

I'm doing an extra long fast today to get back on track and reset my times ready for work.

Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend.

Beansandneedles · 12/06/2024 17:31

Hey all, I've started IF this week. Feeling good but appreciating it's early days. As a family we tend to all sit together at breakfast, so have been doing 730-330 as the 8 hour window. I have a few questions though I was hoping maybe someone could offer their opinion/experience on.

  1. Does it matter if the window changes sometimes? Or does it have to be a strict shift at the same time every day?
  2. Outside of the fasting window, I'm assuming water is okay but what about other drinks? Like herbal tea, an oxo, that sort of thing?
  3. I'm meant to be going away with friends for a week, and there are likely to be dinners out. I'm worried it'll be a peer pressure thing to conform and have dinner with everyone to be social. What would you do?

Thanks in advance!

goingdownfighting · 12/06/2024 22:40

Welcome @Beansandneedles

I'm still just about hanging in here.

Well done for getting started. These are just my experiences/opinions but here goes:

• Does it matter if the window changes sometimes? Or does it have to be a strict shift at the same time every day?

I try and fast for 16 hours or longer. So shorten your eating time to adjust for time differences. Half and hour either way isn't going to make much of a difference IMO and if doing that gets you through a clean fast and keeps you on track then that's the main thing.
• Outside of the fasting window, I'm assuming water is okay but what about other drinks? Like herbal tea, an oxo, that sort of thing? I drink water, green tea or herbal tea. I can't do black tea or coffee.

• I'm meant to be going away with friends for a week, and there are likely to be dinners out. I'm worried it'll be a peer pressure thing to conform and have dinner with everyone to be social. What would you do?

I would skip breakfast and go for as long as possible in the morning ie stay in bed! Then eat as well as you can. I've been living normally - I want it to be a way of life. Eg I am meeting a friend for dinner late on Friday so I will fast until 1pm on Friday (will try not to eat my hands) then order mindfully in the evening. I'll also drive so no drinks. Then I will have to have a late lunch and early dinner on Saturday to get my self back on track. A lot of ducking and diving going on basically.

chocolatelover91 · 14/06/2024 08:01

Week 7, Friday morning weigh in and 3 pounds down again. 20 off now since 22nd april! My days Monday to friday mainly consist of 20-23 hour fasts now! 🙈😎🩷

How is everyone else getting on? 🩷

Hi everyone! I've started 16:8 again as I am menopausal and have stubborn weight to shift 😊 had success with it before.

Am currently doing longer fasts as a kick start so basically one meal a day because it fits in with work etc.

I am away Friday to Monday so won't be very strict then and in fact will be eating and drinking far too much 🤣🤣 but will restart when I get back.

Hope you don't mind me joining in 😊

Of course not! Welcome 🥰🩷 I've just completed a 23 hour 22 mins fast and about to have tea! I do one meal a day too Monday to friday and then enjoy weekends. 20 pounds down so far since 22nd april! I love how easy it fits into my every day life!

Good luck with your journey 🥰💪😘

chocolatelover91 · 21/06/2024 07:44

Another 2 off this week. 22lbs off now since the 22nd april!

I love this new way of life. 🩷 and having to only plan 1 meal a day for Monday to friday makes my life sooo much easier!

goingdownfighting · 21/06/2024 07:46

Thank you so much 😘 just need to stick at it now! I'm 33 now and I've been losing weight on and off since I was 18! Sick of never getting to my goal or maintaining 🙄🙈🩷

Octopus45 · 22/06/2024 23:02

Hi, I'm a newbie to 16-8 fasting, just started a week ago. I'm doing it very roughly. Have usually stopped eating by 8 in the evening and then don't eat until lunchtime the next day. I had a later dinner tomorrow, so will try and make it until 2 tomorrow without food, managed 1.30 today. I'm still eating what I want within reason, but feel much more in control. In a week I'm two and a quarter pounds down. Starting weight was 9st8, goal weight (hopefully will get there by the time I go on holiday on 12th August) is 8st12. I'm finding this way of eating appeals to me cause it's not very disruptive. I hate it when foods are forbidden or if I feel as if I cannot go out and enjoy a meal cause I'm on a diet. Good luck to everyone else.

Octopus45 · 22/06/2024 23:19

Obviously meant a late dinner today lol. I'm also doing a 10 minute Jessica Cooke workout and a Get Fit with Rick workout every morning. I drink lots of black tea and water and the odd diet fizzy drink. Feeling pretty good so far.

Joh2880 · 23/06/2024 19:46

About three weeks ago I started the 16:8 fast diet. And so far it’s been the best for me. My schedule is from 11am to 7pm with coffee being my night cap daily. I exercise 3 to 4 days a week. In September 2021 I was 165 lbs and I was always around 150 after my pregnancies. Since then I went on diet and tried many different things but 16:8 has kept me feeling better and my weight at 135 consistently.
