I tend to just weigh ingredients @willthatbeall and I haven’t been that strict even with ingredients necessarily. In your case, I’d have followed the advice from@PhoenixMama and just had a moderate portion.

I have now lost 20lbs in just over 4 weeks! Feeling happy about that but mostly posting to remind myself because this morning was a 1lb gain after a 2lbs loss yesterday.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 27/01/2023 11:10

Morning! New stone bracket this morning - have spent all week losing the weekend’s excesses. Total loss now 5.6 lbs in 2 and a half weeks. I’ve got to stop blowing it at the weekends!

Day 2 of trying three small meals instead of two slightly larger ones. I keep not having breakfast until 11. I was absolutely starving after dinner yesterday but maybe I just need to adjust.

QuiltedBear · 28/01/2023 08:15

Not the best week. Following my Chinese New Year blowout there was then a leaving party at work complete with homemade cakes. It would have been rude to say no!

On Thursday I weighed exactly the same amount as I did the previous week. I’ve lost a bit over the last two days but am still heavier than I was last Saturday. Interesting with regards to maintenance requirements in the long run at least…

@Anewagain Thanks for the tv recommendation - I shall have to see if I can find that show.

@TooExtraImmatureCheddar I actually got on ok with the biryani. But I undercooked the veg (by accident rather than design) and based on what you say I think it’s probably better that way. And I’ve got a curry paste that worked well with it. But I think I’ve mentioned before that my food tends towards the bland and boring!

Anewagain · 30/01/2023 08:54

If you follow Michael Mosley or Claire Bailey on Instagram - Michael starts a 10 day Fast 800 challenge today.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 30/01/2023 10:00

Morning all! Pretty good weekend, had a few drinks on Friday night but otherwise stuck firmly to the rules. I was briefly sitting at a total loss of 6.8lbs, but I’ve gone back up this morning. Still, half a stone in 3 weeks isn’t at all bad. Fingers crossed it drops again this week. From that low point, it’s only 3.4lbs to getting my BMI under 30, which would be a massive relief.

DH has lost a jeans size already despite all the snacks. Bastard men. I tried on a pair of tight cords and they are definitely less tight but I still wouldn’t wear them out. Maybe they’ll fit in a fortnight.

QuiltedBear · 30/01/2023 10:12

I’ve been following this diet for a month now, and have lost 6.15kg or 13.5 pounds! Getting close to target weight now too.

I’m not really sure how maintenance is going to work once I get there. I’m going to persevere with the Fast800 stage for a bit longer so I’ve got some time to think about it. They say that the first weight loss is always water weight, so I assume that goes back on once you enter maintenance…? Make me think I should undershoot my target weight before switching.

PhoenixMama · 30/01/2023 12:15

Morning all! I'm up this morning too but I know that's a combination on water weight and I'm about to get my period. I still lost 12.4 in a month which is not to be sneezed at.

Thankfully my bad influence housemate is away this week so I can be stricter. Turkey burgers for dinner tonight with spinach. Hoping to get 2lbs below where I was by the end of the week (so 4lbs this week total) let's hope so!

xraydelta · 30/01/2023 14:18

Afternoon all 😁

I am definitely, definitely, definitely back on this today!

So far, I have had a few celery sticks with some Lebanese spreadable yogurt and then green fritters from the Fast 800 website for lunch. It's beef stir fry this evening and I am going to try my hardest to stay away from wine.

I must stick to it now.

Anewagain · 31/01/2023 07:41

I’ve lost 4lbs this week so at the end of week 5 I am 22lbs down ahead of two big events this weekend.

QuiltedBear · 31/01/2023 08:38

Congratulations @Anewagain that’s a great loss.

Anewagain · 31/01/2023 14:56

Thanks @QuiltedBear ! You’re doing very well too! Congratulations on your loss so far and on nearing your target. It’d be good to know how maintenance works out. Good luck @PhoenixMama and @xraydelta

PhoenixMama · 31/01/2023 15:21

That's brilliant @Anewagain - well done!

I am down 1.5lbs this morning and lots of bloat, making it less than 1lb to get me back to where I was. (Also confirming my housemate is a terrible influence and I need to work on this!)

We had the Keto Korean chicken yesterday which my daughter which is the 3rd time she's requested it so definitely one to try if you haven't!

Anewagain · 31/01/2023 17:49

Thank you @PhoenixMama! another achievement today is I completed Week 5 on the Couch to 5k app so ran for 20 minutes straight… I’m feeling very positive about everything today!

Anewagain · 31/01/2023 17:50

I’m guessing the Korean chicken is in the Keto book? Is that worth buying if I have the other two (blue and red) already? @PhoenixMama

PhoenixMama · 31/01/2023 18:22

I am so in awe of your running @Anewagain I couldn't do 800 when I ran!

I love the keto cookbook - might be my favourite and I do think it's easier to do for family as there's an obvious easy carb addition (rice/mash/etc)

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 31/01/2023 18:27

7.2lb in 3 weeks - much better! (My dates are wonky because I started on a Mon but didn’t weigh until Tues). Only 1.2lb to go until my low weight of last summer, and then I can start breaking new ground.

Anewagain · 31/01/2023 19:15

I’m feeling really quite proud of myself @PhoenixMama. that said I’m not going to win any records in terms of speed!
Congratulations @TooExtraImmatureCheddar! I’m 5-6 lbs away from a big milestone for me and it’s good motivation for me to keep going.

QuiltedBear · 01/02/2023 07:29

After discovering that yesterday was national hot chocolate day, I bunked off the diet to have hot chocolate with whipped cream and sprinkles with DS. So I was surprised to find myself down another 350g this morning.

But today is a day off for both of us due to the teacher strikes - I suspect I’m going to have trouble sticking to the diet while chasing after a 4 year old by myself!

QuiltedBear · 01/02/2023 07:33

@Anewagain I’ve just got the Keto cookbook, and am thinking of getting thee blood sugar one too. Because I cook vegetarian I can only use maybe half of each book, and we’ve got to the point where we’ve had everything from the original and the easy cookbooks multiple times. A couple more cookbooks would allow for more variety.

Has anyone got the confidence to branch out and start adapting their own meals yet? I’ve had such good success with the recipe books that I’d rather stick with them for now, but longer term I think we wouldn’t want to stick to it so rigidly.

PhoenixMama · 01/02/2023 12:10

Mini whoosh & I'm down 1.6lbs which considering I'm due on is a miracle!

I tend to run my recipes through MFP to see how I can make tweaks. Mostly I avoid any pasta dish and then work in non-carby options.

Tunneltiger · 02/02/2023 09:48

In envy of your whoosh @PhoenixMama, my scales seem to have joined the national strike and my lbs are afraid to cross the picket line. Inadvertently managed a 600 cal day yesterday by dint of miscalculation and running round like a blue a**ed fly.
Today having something cottage cheese for lunch andFeta chicken again tonight! but it is delicious! Shout out for the feta and red pepper courgetti also.
Good luck everyone.

QuiltedBear · 02/02/2023 10:02

@Tunneltiger I love your strike analogy.

I think the Roasting Tin cookbooks may be a good source of inspiration. A lot of them involve cooking the carbs separately so I could just skip that step. And I have the whole series so wouldn’t need to fork out on more cookbooks.

PhoenixMama · 02/02/2023 13:39

Well this morning I am 90g away from losing 1 stone in 4 weeks! Whoohoo!

I still have another to go but I'm happy with that and its the motivation I need to keep going (even though I know it's going to slow down even more.

My goal for the rest of February is 2lbs a week which will get me halfway to my goal. It helps that I am busier than I have ever been in my life and last night didn't get dinner till 10:30pm lol

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 02/02/2023 14:24

Well done @PhoenixMama, that’s brilliant! You must be so pleased.

@Tunneltiger you must be due a whoosh after your 600 cal day! Fingers crossed it happens soon.

I’m intending to do a bit of adapting - DH wants a roast at the weekend so I’m going to look up how much meat I can have, and make celeriac for me instead of spuds.

I went down another half pound but then up again today, however, I hardly drank anything yesterday so hopefully will see a loss tomorrow once I’ve rehydrated.

QuiltedBear · 03/02/2023 08:57

@PhoenixMama Congratulations, that’s fantastic progress!
