I started yesterday. 800 calories exactly according to the Nutra check app. I felt pretty rough as the day went on but this morning I was down just over a kg so that made it feel worthwhile.

I’m just doing the plain fast 800, not the keto one. Does anyone know what quantity of carbs I should be aiming for? Or as long as I stuck to the recipes from the books does it not really matter?

croon979 · 01/01/2023 11:01

Can I join please? Starting on Tuesday when I go back to work and so determined to stick to it. Lost 3 stone before doing 5.2 for my wedding so I know I can do it when I put my mind to it. Looking forward to feeling better and having more energy - basically getting my mojo back!

MistySkiesAreGone · 01/01/2023 12:45

No idea what is wrong with my phone!

Lol - spoilers alert?

PhoenixMama · 02/01/2023 11:36

Hi all! @MistySkiesAreGone I was expecting a big reveal there lol

@QuiltedBear I think carbs are supposed to be around 45% of your calories - I know you can set the percentages on MFP and it will tell you how much that is in grams

I read the Keto book on the weekend and it definitely helped me to focus. I've also decided not to do the gym while I'm in the first stage of the Keto diet because I think it will just make me too hungry/tired. I'll lose the majority of the weight and then go back to the gym when I start moving towards 3:4. What was the most shocking to me when I read the book is that my waist is TEN inches too big for me to be considered healthy. I don't imagine I'll lose 10 inches but obviously the closer I can get the better.

Didn't go crazy on the carbs yesterday lol but did have one final drink last night. Funny how much better I felt this morning!

So my first goal is to lose a stone by 23rd Jan. I have a mega work event that day and I really want to feel more comfortable in my skin. Let's see how we go - good luck everyone!

QuiltedBear · 02/01/2023 13:52

826 calories yesterday, and another half a kilo down. I’m blown away. The last time I dieted (which must have been about ten years ago) I was on 1500 calories a day and it felt like torture! And I was only losing at the rate of maybe half a kilo a week.

@PhoenixMama Thanks for the carbs advice. So far I’m doing between 30-40% carbs so looks like I’m on track. I’ve got the two recipe books and am just eating out of there for now, which does simplify things.

Addidas · 02/01/2023 14:27

Hello everyone! I’m back after 2 weeks of gluttony! Had a brill time though. Me and hubby hardly get to go out with the kids but had so much family to babysit we went for drinks most nights oops.
anyways all sugar in the bin! No more alcohol!
I’ve started today. New keto book just arrived so going to look through.
didnt weigh myself was too scared! But will do in a few weeks
x

MistySkiesAreGone · 02/01/2023 15:10

Hi all, 9st 12.8 today. I actually slept really late so only had 2.5 meals yesterday which accounts for the loss.

I don't feel so great this time round, I have a constant headache. I think I am drinking too much caffeine, I'll switch to green tea after my morning tea.

PhoenixMama · 02/01/2023 22:35

Closing the kitchen at 912 calories & 25g carbs.

Ate the Bircher muesli for breakfast, chorizo omelette for lunch & homemade lamb koftas for dinner with salad. All recipes from the keto book or keto cookbook. Definitely lost a bit of energy as the day went on but have been drinking loads of water. Guess I’ll see the results in the morning! (Please let there be results lol!)

xraydelta · 03/01/2023 08:10

Hi everyone 👋🏻

I've noticed restarted yet as I have too much on 😔 I will be back on it by the weekend I hope. I need to meal plan.

Addidas · 03/01/2023 09:59

I meant will weigh in a few days!
anyways hopped on wasn’t good. Def the motivation I needed! Hoping it will only take a week to shift what I’ve gained?!

Tunneltiger · 03/01/2023 10:00

Hello! Can I jump in please? Have just read through the thread and it is so motivating and informative! Can't bear to post my weight but I've peeped myself and it's not pretty 😞. Started yesterday with 810 cals and 48g carbs and 51g protein. It was easier for me to do that in two meals - plain omelette for lunch and lentil soup for dinner. Finding lemon in tea and black coffee a challenge but determined to get at least four weeks of strict adherence in to get the motivational boost. Also dry Januarying which is a bit of a relief after a very wet December. Not sure about exercise yet. Might just make me too hungry? Good luck to everyone else joining as well.

MistySkiesAreGone · 03/01/2023 11:56

9st 12.8 again. I had 830 cals. 80g carb which will be why there was no loss. Bloody chickpeas lol.

I'm officially a healthy bmi today (I have been trying fast 800 since end of nov and this is my second go as I went from 12st to 9st 9 in March, then back to 10st 4. My goal is 9st 6 as this gives me some leeway to put more weight on over winter! Also I have reduced lung function due to a condition so I have 20% less in my tank compared to a normal person, so being lighter is like giving myself a helping hand.

I had raw egg in a smoothie today, it was surprisingly ok!

Morning! Ok Day 2 yoga done and after a bit of a delay I weighed in - the scale originally said I'd lost 2.5 lbs then it flashed and showed that I was 5lbs lighter Hmm I weighed 3 more times (including in different places lol) and it kept saying I was down by 5.6lbs. So I'm going with that but will remain cautiously optimistic about tomorrow's weigh in.

I was going to do 3 meals today but only just had breakfast (scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, feta & avocado - which was delicious!) Stuffed chicken breasts for dinner.

I was looking back through my MFP at the last time I did this (March - June 2019) and I'd forgotten how much my weight would fluctuate day to day - after the first couple of weeks it literally went down, down, up, down, up, up, down & always being a minimum of 2lbs lower on the last day than the 1st day. Good to remind myself so I'm not disappointed when it starts happening again!

ilovebagpuss · 03/01/2023 12:47

Hello just starting after reading the fast 800 and having previous success on the 5:2. Hope its ok to join.

Also pre diabetic so giving me a further kick.
I am however being realistic and kind to myself so starting with 3 days at 800 and the others as low cal as i can but with a bit more room so i don't feel mentally overwhelmed.

I am happy doing the 16/8 as well as I can go up to 12 without eating and then just have 2 meals a day.
I have just had 2 slices of the polish sourdough and and a mushroom omlette on top.
Dinner is mexican chicken and cowboy relish wraps but I will probably have a little brown rice instead of the wraps.

I have about 3 stone to lose to be a healthy BMI.

MistySkiesAreGone · 03/01/2023 13:23

I think I've flipped the metabolic switch into ketosis as I feel a lot sharper. I had a tablespoon of olive oil - it was in the creamy green smoothie from the Fast 800 book. I'm defo having that one for breakfast again.

Ended on 850 and 66g carbs. Fasting begins.

kitchen closed!!!!! I will not eat more!

PhoenixMama · 03/01/2023 23:45

Closing the kitchen at 788 cals & only 8g of carbs but 76g of protein which is probably why I didn’t feel crazy hungry. The keto chicken breasts with sun dried tomatoes & feta was amazing. If any of the keto recipes sound useful I’m happy to post them! I also probably need to put them individually into MFP because like the other cookbooks I suspect they’re out calorie wise but I guess we’ll see what the scales say tomorrow.

my biggest moment today was not having a glass of wine with my housemate or eating the amazing pannetone bread & butter pudding I made on Sunday when he & my daughter had some. Pre-Christmas I would have had both (probably twice!)

QuiltedBear · 04/01/2023 06:17

803 calories yesterday and I’ve now lost 2.2kg in four days! (I think that’s nearly 5 pounds for those who prefer imperial measures.)

Interesting what you say about the cookbooks @PhoenixMama . I’ve been logging the recipes on Nutra check and so far they’ve been pretty spot on (except for the tuna and sweetcorn meal from the original cookbook, which was way out - allegedly much higher calories than the one I made…)

Tunneltiger · 04/01/2023 09:38

Morning! Down 7lbs in 2 days so feeling very motivated. Today going to have bacon mushroom and broccoli from the fast 800 and stir fry something to be determined later on. Good luck everyone.

Anewagain · 04/01/2023 10:04

Amazing @QuiltedBear and @Tunneltiger ! I’m also feeling pretty happy.. I’m down 8.5lbs in 8 days. I have lots to lose.

QuiltedBear · 04/01/2023 10:54

I don’t have a huge amount to lose. Nutra check suggested I aim initially for 10% of my body weight, which is 6.2kg or nearly 1 stone. This would take me down to my booking weight (which I should point out was five years ago!) But the recent weight gain has all gone to my waistline, and my mother was diagnosed with pre diabetes last year, so I really want to sort myself out.

PhoenixMama · 04/01/2023 11:18

Morning all! Well done @QuiltedBear @Tunneltiger & @Anewagain - those are great losses!

I'm down another lb this morning for 6.4lbs total and already 1.5% body fat lost which is great!

Keto flu is also in full effect - woke up feeling like I had a hangover which seemed very unfair given that I didn't drink at all yesterday lol

Also a slight colour shift in the keto stick this morning which is quite exciting as well - I'm a sucker for visible changes!

2 meals today - bang bang chicken legs for lunch and thai pork lettuce wraps for dinner - both from the Keto cookbook. Will report back!
