Morning! Am starting Fast800 today. Anyone care to join me?
Any tips from those who have done it before?
I’ve only been up 2 hours and all I’ve thought about is food so far! I’m surprised how often I think about it!

@queenofknives good luck! 42 hours seems completely unattainable for me, I can barely manage 16 hours with a sleep in between!
@Ihateme I’ve ordered the fast 800 book and recipe book too so trying to wing it until they arrive. I’m not even sure if I’m meant to be low carbing or is it keto? Am I allowed dairy milk (only having milk in coffee during eating window not fasting)? So really am winging it!
It's not keto. It's not, actually, really that low carb either given that pulses and some fruits are allowed. It's main focus is keeping calories low, along with intermittent fasting, and following a more Mediterranean style of eating, which is lower in carbs.

You definitely need the books - they will really help you, and the recipes are very good. Tasty and also pretty easy to follow. The Fast 800 website is also good and as well as info has some good recipes there.

reefedsail · 28/12/2020 13:22

@queenofknives I've got 48hrs currently in my Life Fasting app, but I don't think I will do that long. I need to rebuild my fasting muscles. Currently on 17hrs and feeling good. I will see how I feel at tea time though.

queenofknives · 28/12/2020 13:44

It took me ages to build up to 24 hours so I definitely think it's wise to take it slowly and listen to your body. Although saying that, it has been liberating to realise that hunger is fleeting - I can feel hungry and let it pass. I'll forget about it in a few minutes. I definitely have enough fat stores to keep me going!!

Good luck everyone! It's all in your power!

Motivateinmotion · 28/12/2020 14:29

Has anyone got any favourite recipes they find filling and tasty they could share?

queenofknives · 28/12/2020 16:20

I'm rubbish for recipes, I'm afraid - I very much just cook by instinct and according to what ingredients I have in the house. But in general, fat and protein is really filling, so you could have a look for paleo or LCHF recipes online. If that's not your thing, then meditteranean food is really healthy and filling.

BIWI · 28/12/2020 17:06

@Motivateinmotion

chicken, coconut and lentil curry is one of my favourites. This is a Fast800 recipe which is in the main book, rather than the specific recipe book. Not only tasty but a generous portion too.

Ihateme · 28/12/2020 21:20

My Fast800 book arrived today so I’m going to try reading over the next few days.

I’ve enjoyed my food over the last few days; I’ve eaten 3 meals in 8 hours which have probably come to more than 800kcals to be fair, but it’s certainly been less than Xmas intake!!
For breakfast both days I’ve had mushrooms, spinach, poached egg and a sausage. For lunch I’ve had soup- Ready made Sainsburys ones. And for dinner I’ve had fish with salad.

Motivateinmotion · 28/12/2020 23:21

@Ihateme they sound like good meals. I’m hoping my books arrive tomorrow so can get some inspiration- I didn’t want to delay starting and use not having the books as an excuse to keep overeating. I’m trying to incorporate more fish in my diet so had sea bass tonight with creamed spinach it was really good. I like something sweet after dinner so fingers crossed for a couple of low cal sweet treats in the book!

CoffeethenCrochet · 28/12/2020 23:25

I'm re-starting on 4th Jan. Had 2 weeks off over Xmas/Nye. I lost 15kg during my first 12 weeks upto Xmas. I'm hoping for another good chunk lost in January/February. So far I've only gained 0.3kg in 10 days so I think I'm happy with that maintenance.

Dinkydody · 29/12/2020 09:07

Hi, I started the fast 800 yesterday through the official website. £99 includes meal plan, shopping list, exercise regimen, support and forum. I thought it would be good to share how I get on with. Might be worth having a look for some especially those who struggle with structure and planning.

Yesterday’s meals.
B.. two soft boiled eggs with baby broccoli soldiers.
L.. Greek salad
D.. Teriyaki salmon with courgettes.
Everything is much better with support and accountability 😊

Ihateme · 29/12/2020 10:05

@CoffeethenCrochet that’s amazing!! And good to know it doesn’t all go back on quickly in the maintenance stage. I bet you’ve got to be really careful still, though?

@Dinkydody good luck, let us know how you get in with the online plan and if it’s worth it.

Books have arrived so lots of bedtime reading to crack on with. Quick flick through the recipe book and it looks good!

HyggeHeart · 29/12/2020 21:10

I think we will go for a brunch with eggs of some description (poached with mushrooms/spinach or asparagus) and then a light tea with fish and veg or salad. The lentil curry sounds lovely @BIWI. I'm hoping I'll find it easier to make the change with just 2 meals to cook and shop for rather than 3 and it gives a longer fasting window. I think I'll menu plan 7 days and see how it goes. All recipe recommendations welcome here too! Good luck everybody 😊

queenofknives · 29/12/2020 22:27

Have had half a bottle of red wine this evening, not sure that was in the plan Xmas Grin

Hope everyone is doing well! I've been looking at the Diet Doctor website - loads of menu plans and recipes on there. www.dietdoctor.com

Ihateme · 29/12/2020 22:46

I learned a difficult lesson today - took my vitamins (multi, vit D and iron) this morning before breaking the fast... hours of tummy ache until my lunch digested Xmas Sad

I’ve now done 3 days without really counting calories fully so I’m going to start tracking accurately tomorrow.

Hope the wine was good @queenofknives!

queenofknives · 29/12/2020 23:00

Wine was lovely, thanks @Ihateme! Had a zoom catch up with old friends, just wish we could meet up in real life! Wine

I take vitamins when fasting, but I think iron is the one you shouldn't take on an empty stomach. I take magnesium, vit d, zinc, and b complex with no problems when fasted. But every body is different and we are all experimenting on ourselves! Well done on keeping up with it.

CoffeethenCrochet · 30/12/2020 00:05

@ihateme I'm not sure if I've just been lucky or because I'm more mindful of what I'm eating. Definitely had a LOT of treats over Xmas so haven't felt like I'm being strict. But compared to last Xmas I've definitely not had as much. Just hoping it's not too much of a shock when I go back to 800 cals a day. I've still got a huge amount to lose so will be doing another 12 weeks at 800 cals Blush

Ihateme · 30/12/2020 10:38

Weighed this morning... 2.7lb down in 3 days Shock I understand this isn’t all fat. But what a motivator!

OP posts:
queenofknives · 30/12/2020 11:22

Woohoo! That's great!

Motivateinmotion · 30/12/2020 18:11

Well done @Ihateme that’s great results! And so motivating when things are tricky. How many meals are you currently eating? I’m having 2 meals (lunch and dinner) as I find once I’ve started eating I find it hard to stop so have to delay as long as possible

Ihateme · 30/12/2020 18:35

I’m having breakfast and dinner with a small soup lunch inbetween for now (which I plan to drop in a few days time).

I royally messed up today though. We were visiting family so I made a flask of soup for when they had mc Donald’s on the way home. I forgot my flask. So my lunch/dinner was 560kcals of terrible maccy d carbs Sad

OP posts:
Ihateme · 30/12/2020 18:42

@Motivateinmotion do you have your meals 8 hours apart or do you have a longer fast time?

Day 3 today. I tried it half heartedly in the summer. Had lovely yogurt with pear and hazelnut for breakfast. Turmeric yogurt chicken for lunch. Beef stir fry for dinner.
Eagerly awaiting the new recipe book , I love the current one.
Joined on line , they send me a meal plan and shopping
list.
Got an nhs discount if anyone else is NHS staff ?
Good luck everyone Smile
