Morning! Am starting Fast800 today. Anyone care to join me?
Any tips from those who have done it before?
I’ve only been up 2 hours and all I’ve thought about is food so far! I’m surprised how often I think about it!

I’ve found the same on FB, there’s nothing in the Fast800 book, cookbooks or journal that set targets for carbs or fat or fibre, just protein... I assume it’s from the sugar diet?

I lost 11 pounds in 12 days and 11 days later the dial hasn’t budged... anyway here’s hoping all the hard work shows up in a big whoosh tomorrowWink

On the plus side I’m loving the ‘real’ food after a lifetime of yo-yo dieting.

Truthlikeness · 17/03/2021 22:07

I'm on day 17. Lost 5lbs in the first 5 days and have been pretty much the same weight since then, which is rather demoralising. I eat 800 cal about a third of the time and no more than 1,000 the other days (when I'm literally climbing the walls with hunger). My Fitbit says I'm burning over 2,000 cal a day so no idea where it is going!

fallfallfall · 18/03/2021 02:03

same here. walking 15,000 easily per day. with cardio and resistance bands. i'm fit...although dare not try the sit to stand test...
pretty faithful to the diet outlined like you @Truthlikeness certainly not over by much if i have a small treat before supper (my difficult time). and no further loss than the first week.

their staff/online support recommended, i do my exercising before i eat breakfast.
some things i'm willing to try but this isn't one of them.

Truthlikeness · 18/03/2021 07:54

I'm down a little today. I could certainly exercise more - I don't get as much activity as I used to as I currently WFH in a demanding job and struggle to find the time to get out during daylight hours - but I jog (gently atm due to a hip strain) and cycle. I'm in two minds as to whether to carry on in the more restrictive phase (which I would if I felt it was working) or move to a more sustainable 5:2.

travailtotravel · 18/03/2021 20:19

I just can't manage IF all the time. Between 800 and 1000 cals over 3 meals - creeping up to 1200 sometimes. I'm losing 2lb a week steady and now IF at the weekends only when I eat 2 meals only. I just cannot manage without breakfast on a work day. It may well be psychological. I think you have to find the groove that works for you.

travailtotravel · 18/03/2021 20:20

I'm 10 weeks in at this point and only 2.5 stone down instead of the 3 I was targeting. It's hard ruddy work.

fluffydinosaur · 18/03/2021 20:55

@travailtotravel I'm 10 weeks in and lost 2 stone - was also aiming for 3 over the 12 weeks but obviously not going to happen just yet! I'm really finding it a struggle now though. I'm ok with the meals but really want to snack, and now that weight loss has slowed down so much it is hard to stay motivated. I still have 3 stone to lose so could really do with some good weeks!

travailtotravel · 18/03/2021 21:16

@fluffydinosaur I've got a further 3 after my first three too. We must stick with it. I'm coming off the wagon for Easter (the lasagne I have planned in my head ...) then back on again ...

fallfallfall · 19/03/2021 16:24

i need to eat off plan for a while to use up left overs in the fridge. avoiding potatoes rice and noodles isn't too difficult but some of my meals are more spicy and salty than the plan ones.
i made the chocolate chia porridge and even my skeptical dh enjoyed it.
scales at a dead stand still.

fluffydinosaur · 19/03/2021 16:48

@travailtotravel that is my plan too (right down to having lasagne at easter!) Are you going to go back onto 800 everydayor some version of 5:2?

@fallfallfall how long have you been going? I dont think adding extra salt and spices matter as doesnt add calories or carbs. I also tend to use spices a bit more liberally - and cook onions and garlic for longer than recommended in the book

fallfallfall · 19/03/2021 17:47

I’m super sensitive to salt on the scales. My 1/2 cup Indian Channa Masala will give me 3 lbs of weight gain for 3 days.

Truthlikeness · 20/03/2021 12:31

The weight loss has picked up again. I'm down 2kg over the last 4 days for a total of 4.1kg in 20 days. I've got another 7kg to go.

This diet does kill your evenings though. I've eaten all my calories by then, I'm too hungry/exhausted to focus on anything or do anything active and I can't even have a glass of wine. Grin I just want to go to bed early so I can wake up again quicker and have something to fuel me. I have been sleeping better though.

Bee0808 · 20/03/2021 19:26

Well.
I'm 85 kilos today.
Its disgusting.
I've signed up to fast800.com.
Can I ask...how do those of you who can't eat cheese or yoghurt find the diet/recipes?
Starting tomorrow and going shopping on monday

Bee0808 · 20/03/2021 19:27

Sorry should say target loss is 3 Stone

travailtotravel · 20/03/2021 20:59

Ooh not thought about salt impacting my static scales . Hmm. ..

travailtotravel · 20/03/2021 21:00

Though my self sabotage (smacked badly today) clearly has most of the impact.

Truthlikeness · 20/03/2021 23:03

I don't use the recipes. I count calories and eat the same kind of Mediterranean diet. Presumably you could swap with a non-dairy equivalent?

Jenthefredo · 21/03/2021 15:40

1st day today
ALL I can think of is food! 😧
I went for a short walk earlier and plan to do 10 mins on the exercise bike soon

Jenthefredo · 21/03/2021 15:41

I've decided to use a splash of cream in my coffee as I can't stand any milk substitutes
nut juice bleurgh
Lots of the recipes include yoghurt or cheese. Oh dear 😒

fallfallfall · 21/03/2021 21:24

Trying to get back on plan.
The web site is awkward...I’m having difficulty swapping meals around but that’s minor.
I’m actually looking forward to this week.

Truthlikeness · 22/03/2021 08:24

My food bill went down drastically to start with, then I cottoned onto the fact I could buy more expensive food as I was having less of it, cue trips to M&S to buy exotic seafood and artisan pickles.

chalkyc2 · 22/03/2021 08:50

I've just finished week 6 of the online plan - in the whole 6 weeks my only cheats have been a handful of cashews mid afternoon a few times and I do drink tea with oat milk once/twice a day and don't count it in calories. I have swapped some recipes around especially breakfast as really can't be cooking eggs etc on a school morning!

My annoyance with the online plan is that you do end up wasting food due to weird quantities and the fact that recipes don't seem synchronised to use up ingredients over the week, Eg I have a large celeriac in the fridge and only need 200g if it this week.... last week I needed about 30g of olives and not again.

However - I've lost 10kg exactly as of this morning but the last few weeks have been slow, and 10cm from my waist. I still have a long way to go...

fallfallfall · 22/03/2021 15:31

not happy with this am's weigh in. this has better be a good week!!
i'll increase my fluids.

fallfallfall · 23/03/2021 14:36

Too embarrassed to ask on the fast forum but how are people weighing/measuring their food?
I’m weighing all the dry ingredient with a food scale but liquids using measuring cups?
Since I’m not loosing weight, wondering if I’m getting the basics wrong?

fluffydinosaur · 23/03/2021 16:01

@fallfallfall that sounds right to me! I suppose you could check that your scales are accurate just in case? (they weighing something you already know the weight of - e.g if weight is on the packet).
I know you said you are following the meals - are you calculating the calories as well? some are much higher than others - so for example you want to be careful not to have two of the higher ones in the same day as you'll probably end up going over. How long have you been going? and have you lost anything yet?
