Morning! Am starting Fast800 today. Anyone care to join me?
Any tips from those who have done it before?
I’ve only been up 2 hours and all I’ve thought about is food so far! I’m surprised how often I think about it!

If you e a,ready got shakes I’d use them rather than waste them! Then have a think about how they are working for you.

Chalky, feel free to ease yourself in gradually, no need to ditch the Diet Coke just yet, if that’s what gets you through. And dr mosely suggests starting with 12-12 as a fasting period, a d increasing from there.

Fagey · 07/02/2021 20:42

Hi all.

Hope I can join.

I'm on W2D3. 9lb down and feeling good.

Looking forward to more weight coming off and my health getting better.

I'm 15 stone and 5'4" so have a long way to go.

Foundmyfeet · 08/02/2021 19:17

@JaquelineBeanstalk - They seem to be working for me so far. I'm going to carry on with them for a couple more weeks.

Can anyone explain to me how to calculate net carbs and if it's necessary to do so in the UK? I'm getting a bit confused between UK and US nutritional values.

Also, has anyone tried the black bean spaghetti from Aldi? It's so delicious when you add salt and pepper to it.

I think you deduct the fibre from the carb number to arrive at net carbs, but best to double check.

I am have now done 5 weeks and hovering between 0.4 -1.4lb off a stone loss. So close! Currently on day 2 of my period so hopefully will have a mini whoosh in the next few days.

Foundmyfeet · 08/02/2021 22:16

@TheWayOfTheWorld well done you! I hovered around the 1 stone mark for a bit and it was frustrating me to break it. I eventually did. I've lost 18lbs.

I think that's the US method. Apparently the UK method is deducting polyols which is some kind of sugar but I don't know if that's factored initially into the carb value as there is no separate value for polyols. Oh I'm confused.

Good to know!

Right, polyols are shown as a separate line item if they are present in the food stuff. Eg carb killa bar shows 13.6g of carb per bar, but you deduct the 10.9g of polyols for your carb count. However, I believe there is debate as to whether polyols also negatively impact your blood sugar etc.

Fast800 starting today
Foundmyfeet · 09/02/2021 17:53

@TheWayOfTheWorld thanks for that info. I think I'll just take the carbs at the value shown if there are no polyols itemised. That way I can only be under rather than over...I think! Lol! Or just avoid food stuff with polyols!

Anyone else getting a little bored by food at the moment? Yesterday I made spinach, mushrooms and a poached egg and actually could not eat it! I think the cold is not helping as I just want mash and gravy!! Will make soup today I think as it does fill that gap a bit.

Gosh I know! Everyone is having sausage and mash tonight but I will make celeriac mash for me and have a load of veg as well.
Foundmyfeet · 10/02/2021 12:37

@mumonthehill far from it for me. I've loaded up on recipe books and search for ideas online. I'm always cooking something different. I think I've had the same dinner only twice since Jan 2nd. Tonight I'm making garlic prawns with mixed courgetti and spaghetti from the Fast 800 book. I reserve my poached eggs for breakfast 2 - 3 times per week and I've not had one omelette yet!

mumonthehill · 10/02/2021 12:42

I think perhaps I need to do some more recipe research!!! I actually love salad and veg so do not know why my mindset is so fed up with them. I am going to do Thai curry tonight. Onwards and upwards!!

Foundmyfeet · 10/02/2021 15:02

@mumonthehill I love Thai food! Enjoy!

TheWayOfTheWorld · 11/02/2021 08:33

Just hit next target of 1 stone off, so happy! 14 lbs down, 23 to go...

Spotsandstars · 11/02/2021 15:03

So I'm on w2d4 lost 7lb fist week, only 1lb so far this week. I do f800, 16:8 and I work out every morning on a zoom workout group. Got 3 stone to lose.
This week I'm in the middle of my period, is that what slows it down for everyone else? I was hoping for a 3lb loss this week but don't think it'll happen, completely ok with slow downs and plateaus but need other people's encouraging experience to keep goin!

Foundmyfeet · 11/02/2021 15:26

Well done @TheWayOfTheWorld! Finally got there!

@Spotsandstars my period affected my weight loss. I think I lost 2lbs the week before and then the week of. I'm the week before again so not holding my breath...

Keep persevering despite your period.

mumonthehill · 12/02/2021 07:35

Thought I would also update, although I do not weigh myself, I am now down 2 bra sizes so from a 40c to a 36c. I am pleased with this. I find it difficult at the moment to judge dress size as like everyone else every thing I seem to wear is stretchy and loose!!! However I do feel as if I am making headway.

Motivateinmotion · 12/02/2021 09:18

In the UK the carb count is exactly what’s written on the packet no reducing fibre that’s US

BIWI · 12/02/2021 11:17

@Foundmyfeet

Can anyone explain to me how to calculate net carbs and if it's necessary to do so in the UK? I'm getting a bit confused between UK and US nutritional values.

To reiterate/agree with PP - it's only in the US that they talk about net carbs, because they include fibre in the carb count.

UK food labelling - the carb count is the carb count!

Foundmyfeet · 12/02/2021 14:02

Thanks @Motivateinmotion and @BIWI.

I'm really happy today! My goal was to get to 11st 7lbs by Valentines Day and this morning I weighed 11st 6.75lbs! Lol! That 1/4 lb makes all the difference!

Next goal is to be 11st this time next month.

Spotsandstars · 12/02/2021 17:37

So someone on another thread suggested my carbs may be too low as my body may go into panic?
Approx each day carbs 15-18g what do other people think? I assume that the more in control of carbs you are the better?

BIWI · 12/02/2021 17:54

What does that mean 'go into panic'?!

15-18g carbs is very low, though, and probably means you're not getting enough veg. The Fast800 isn't a low carb plan, it's a lower carb plan. You should be including pulses/legumes as well as vegetables (and some fruit) in your menus.

Spotsandstars · 12/02/2021 19:34

Oh I've been a right donut! Looking at mfp and was looking at percentage not grams. Ok my carbs are higher 😂 About 35g always under 50g. So I guess not very low. Thought it was strange as I eat veg etc!

TheWayOfTheWorld · 12/02/2021 20:07

Yes agreed - just that the poster was saying they were confused about net carbs etc, so that's how they calc it there. Why can't it all be uniform?! Mind you, I saw an article the other day about the difference in ingredients between the US and UK versions of the same products. Yeurch! The amount of E numbers and other nasties in the US versions Confused

Foundmyfeet · 13/02/2021 11:05

@TheWayOfTheWorld thank you so much! I'm so pleased with myself. Lost another half a pound this morning and that was after a delicious early valentines meal and some wine.

Lol @ potato orgasm!
