@CurseryKinkajoo

Interesting you say that *@Cantteach* as I was think dh and I would have to eat differently but actually, why am I buying biscuits/crisps/shite for my dc and setting them up with the bad habits I have/had.

My youngest is 11 and overweight although his 3 older siblings are all slim but snack a lot on carb rich food. They do have different needs to me but do they need the quantities?!

That’s exactly how I feel @CurseryKinkajoo. Why the hell am I feeding my kids chocolate biscuits FFS!! I feel like I’m feeding DP and I like royalty and the kids are eating poison Confused

I’ve just cooked these crispy fine green beans to accompany DPs shop bought mussels in a cream sauce. He usually has chips and said they’re not a bad substitute!

Oysterbabe · 16/08/2020 19:04

They look good. I wonder if they'd work with parmasan instead of breadcrumbs.

justanotherneighinparadise · 16/08/2020 19:30

I used our Keto bread alongside coconut flour. I’m sure Parmesan would also work 👍

Goongoon · 16/08/2020 21:59

Hi all. Would like to join.
Started on Thursday and have dropped 5.5lb already, although I’ve not followed it to the letter. Am camping for 5 nights from tomorrow so may not be able to start properly until next weekend.
Any tips for low carb camping foods?
Thanks.

Molly500 · 16/08/2020 22:47

My first day went well up until 7 tonight when I got so hungry I ate a load of peanut m and ms! I have gone over the calories but will get back to it tomorrow.

itsmymess · 16/08/2020 23:18

@CurseryKinkajoo a local company to me make kimchi etc with free delivery

TantricTwist · 16/08/2020 23:21

I did that last night @Molly500 with wine and Doritos so I carried the calories over to today. So although I'm up to 800, 300 of those are from the excess of last night. Luckily I didn't feel too hungry today and even managed to control my sweet cravings with a few grapes, it seems 10 of them were enough to feel like a luxurious feast.

itsmymess · 16/08/2020 23:29

Thanks for the helpful comments re feeding family. I want to shift us all
Towards healthier eating but appreciate the need to take it slowly with the children and husband.

I currently hate how I feel, have read the book and am desperate to make the change but so scared to start (pathetic).

outwest · 17/08/2020 06:54

but so scared to start (pathetic)

Not pathetic, mymess, just natural. Perhaps better to consider it gradual, long-term shift to new way of eating rather than distinct programme with clear-edged start/end. Avoid putting self under too much pressure. Nobody will jump out of woodwork and call you failure if you don't get it right immediately.

Welcome Goon, personally would enjoy camping with usual diet (without going overboard) and start anew when I got back. But others more experienced may have comments...

Oysterbabe · 17/08/2020 08:03

Just get going itsmymess, nothing to lose.

I'm starting properly today as I needed to shop. I was however much better than usual over the weekend. I didn't snack or eat anything sugary and skipped the potatoes with dinner yesterday. As a result I'm starting the week on a 1lb loss rather than my usual 3lb gain. I won't be having breakfast as I'm fine without it. Just having a black coffee.

DuckPancake · 17/08/2020 08:12

Starting today, but off to an uncertain start as I had no time to prepare a lunch. So I'm on my way in to work with no idea what to pick up from M&S for lunch 😭

Can anyone give me any quick ideas before I make a bad decision??

Oysterbabe · 17/08/2020 08:14

Do they do boiled eggs? I know that in sainsburys you can buy 2 boiled eggs in the chilled section and then you can just get a green side salad and maybe some dressing.

Oysterbabe · 17/08/2020 08:15

I know it's only 17th August but there is a real hint of autumn in the air here today. I think lunch will be easier once soup season hits. You can make a lovely filling soup for 200 calories.

DuckPancake · 17/08/2020 08:17

Thank you Oyster. Yes that's true, I am relieved autumn is on the horizon!

justanotherneighinparadise · 17/08/2020 08:43

I’ve had a google and apparently the balanced/ready meals in M&S are a good option. Not sure if you have the ability to heat meals up in the office though DuckPancake

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 17/08/2020 09:11

Morning everyone!

Today's plan:

Fast until lunchtime, then pork and veg (should have been last nights tea but I wasn't hungry) post weights protein shake, and chicken kebabs and salad for tea.

Exercise - BodyProject HIIT, BodyPump, plus a 22km cycle.

I'm feeling really motivated for this week and hopefully seeing a new stone bracket before the end of August.

yumyumpoppycat · 17/08/2020 10:02

Welcome to all the new starters 🙌

it'smy I have been doing this a week and already noticing clothes feel better - don't be scared even if you just commit to doing this for a week it will make you feel better and can't cause any harm and by the end of the week you will be feeling good about continuing.

Week 1 done - have lost almost 8lbs - v happy as we were on leave, had a mini break at coast and also one of the dcs birthdays so wasn't 100% low carb and 800 every day.

Well done to everyone else for their losses.

wrensandrobins · 17/08/2020 10:29

1.8 off for me this week which considering I had two three course meals out without choosing healthy food (one was a Chinese buffet) is actually a miracle!

I have 2 pounds away from the 11st bracket and 4 from no longer being obese! So completely focused

Saturday I do have an afternoon tea but that is one meal! The rest of the week shall be on plan!

justanotherneighinparadise · 17/08/2020 10:53

Brilliant! Everyone is doing so great and I agree, welcome newbies, let’s keep this thread nice and active 👌

Another stay the same for me today. I feel great though weirdly as I’m completely compliant and I know when my body is ready it’ll drop again.

So I had last nights dinner this morning and those crunchy green beans I posted the recipe for were bloody gorgeous. Honestly having some Keto bread in your freezer is such a good idea for quick meals like poached eggs on toast and also to do things like breadcrumbs. So the meal was two small pieces of chicken, broccoli, fried breadcrumbed green beans, homemade coleslaw and a small amount of avocado as it was a sad partially black one. Plus a glass of milk. I was so full I rolled into the living room and sat there lol.

I’m going to make bone broth today as it’s meant to be excellent for skin and hair and as discussed recently, my hair has taken a battering from the sudden drop of weight. I picked up a bone marrow from Waitrose which was only a pound 👍. There’s loads of recipes for bone broth around the place but interestingly you can also buy bone broth cubes online that you just melt into a drink once a day. They were pricey which is why I didn’t do it in the end but I thought they were a good idea.

Titsywoo · 17/08/2020 11:45

Waist - 40 inches and i want this down to 32 max to be the half my height safe figure

Managed to buy two boiled eggs and some salad from Tesco. I have some plum dressing in my drawer (not strictly Mediterranean I know). Can't say I'm feeling hugely excited by it but I'll look forward to salmon for dinner and be more prepared for tomorrow!!

I had a drop of milk and a sweetener in my coffee earlier just before the end of my fast, which I feel AWFUL for. I'm sure it won't matter too much. Will take time to ease into...

itsmymess · 17/08/2020 12:35

How do I make sure my portion size is under control to keep within calories? So if I have a tuna salad for lunch, how do I ensure I've go the right amount of tuna?
Or egg and avocado salad - how much should I be eating?

DuckPancake · 17/08/2020 12:38

@itsmymess I tend to use My Fitness Pal to get my portions right. Sometimes I'll input it the day before so it will tell me how many calories will be in whatever grams I enter

itsmymess · 17/08/2020 12:38

And I'm worried my diet is too limited. Ive never eaten beans and stuff like that before and don't know where to start with it. I don't think I like white beans or lentils for example and that seems to be the staple
