@DuckPancake thanks. So I would enter 2x tomatoes, lettuce, x grams of spinach etc

DuckPancake · 17/08/2020 12:40

@itsmymess yep that's right Smile

DuckPancake · 17/08/2020 12:42

@itsmymess I am not overly keen on beans and pulses, even the word gives me the shivers. But I just had edamame beans in my salad and it was quite nice! I guess experiment with dressings (olive oil, lemon, lime, chilli flakes etc) to make it more palatable? I think that's what I'll be doing!

yumyumpoppycat · 17/08/2020 12:53

Itsmy it might be worth getting a cheap digital kitchen scale for weighing things. Also on MyFitnessPal there is an option to scan the barcodes of things like ready meals and it puts all the info on for you, you might just need to adjust the portion size.

A different option would be to get the recipe books (fast 800 or bsd) and just follow the planners in the books while you get used to things.

Oysterbabe · 17/08/2020 14:06

I definitely recommend getting some kitchen scales. Mine were only £9 from amazon and are really good.

Courgette pizza for lunch. 300 calories.

That looks lovely Oyster!

justanotherneighinparadise · 17/08/2020 15:25

That does look nice!!! Is it just sliced courgette with cheese and salami on top?

Oysterbabe · 17/08/2020 15:40

Pretty much. Courgette sliced lengthways, scoop the seeds out, bake for 30 minutes, then fill with tomato sauce, top with whatever you fancy then bake again for 15 minutes or so. The tomato sauce is just tinned tomatoes, garlic, oregano and seasoning which I simmered for a bit on the stove until reduced. It helped that the courgette was from my allotment and was nice and fat rather than skinny.

justanotherneighinparadise · 17/08/2020 17:22

It’s a great idea. Might do that tomorrow as I have lots of courgettes (and cheese and salami 😜)

Oysterbabe · 17/08/2020 18:39

Chicken and lentil curry with cauli rice and natural yogurt. 500 calories.

And I'm done for the day. I'm trying to eat earlier with the kids as recommended in the book.

(sorry, I'll probably post a lot of food photos 😂)

Yet again Oyster - looks delicious! What have you mixed the cauliflower rice with there for the pilau effect?

Oysterbabe · 17/08/2020 18:49

Thanks!
I just fried it with some turmeric and loads of seasoning to make it less dull.

Monstermissy36 · 17/08/2020 20:43

Hi all, would love to get on board... I've put on over a stone in lockdown and am at my heaviest ever! 5'5 and weigh 13st 2 (was 13st 9).

Ive be been low carbing for a couple of weeks.. trying to keep under 50gs carbs and 800-1000 calories. I've also been hitting the gym classes!

I have felt occasional dizzy spells and wondered if this is usual? My diet before was just fast food rubbish and tons of it so it is a big change.

Really interesting reading all your posts 😀

DuckPancake · 17/08/2020 21:15

@Monstermissy36 it can be normal yes, make sure to drink plenty of water. It's your body's response to carb withdrawal/crash. It's just a case of riding it out until you get used to your new way of eating 😌

Monstermissy36 · 17/08/2020 21:18

Ahh thank you, I thought it may be! I'm drinking lots of water and logging everything on my Fitbit....

It's been good to see the calories in things and I dread to think what a was putting away calorie wise a few weeks ago 🙈

DuckPancake · 17/08/2020 21:18

Just checking in at the end of day one:

16:8 success.

Lunch- Boiled egg salad
Snack- Small bowl of bran flakes
Dinner- Salmon fillet with avocado & Greek yoghurt dip

THEN I went overboard and helped myself to chorizo and cheese.... and a couple of glasses of rose.

Didn't do HIIT.

It's a process right? Surely I can't get it perfect straight away from day 1? I don't want to come up with too many excuses otherwise it will happen again.

Day 2 will be better.

LostaraYil · 17/08/2020 22:03

I'd like to join, kind of started low carb yesterday but not counting calories. I will try to count from tomorrow on MFP. I've read the book and am watching lose a stone in 21 days, and really want to lose at least something before I go back to work in September, otherwise I'll need a whole new work wardrobe Blush.

Molly500 · 17/08/2020 23:13

Day 2 went alot better. Although I was so hungry at 3pm I just grabbed what I could and ate an apple with peanut butter on top. It was absolutely delicious but maybe not part of the plan. I baked sea bass in foil tonight with a load of veg, soy sauce and olive oil. It was lovely and a good distraction from the pizza everyone else was eating. I felt empty afterwards and had 100 cals left so ate 30g of cheddar. It did the trick and I felt much better.

Beroltheperil · 18/08/2020 06:21

Hello
Day 1 yesterday, went perfectly until I decided to finish off 1/3 bottle of holiday wine sitting in the fridge, in order to remove temptation. Blush. I'm another one not starting perfectly but feeling good about day 2. Plan for the day is 2 meals. Eggs, protein toast and sliced tomatoes for lunch and halloumi ratatouille from the f800 recipe book for dinner. Brisk walk and yoga session. I must go to bed earlier though, got really out of routine in the holidays and struggling with tiredness which doesn't help the focus. I'm also watching lose a stone in 3 days with interest. I'm not far from a normal bmi and being better able to fight covid is a big motivation for me.
Have a good day all!

outwest · 18/08/2020 07:02

LostaraYil Welcome! Yes, rapid losses possible with this approach, provided you stick to the plan (and preferably count calories accurately). Set of scales helps.

*Molly" Using small chunk of cheese to use up quota a favourite trick here also, feels like a treat.

Berol Like your approach - remove potential nagging temptation by eliminating it at initial stage.

So, 7 days in and I'm down 7.2lb while Dh has stayed at 8lbs. I thought he'd be great at this, he's very focused and results driven by has been crap! Everyday he has a couple of extra things to eat that are on the acceptable list, such as an apple or bit of cheese, but definitely take him over the 800 mark. He laments daily about the lack of carbs in his life and the other night had a whiskey! On the other hand he has thanked me regularly for supporting him and said that everything I've cooked has been delicious.

Camellia18 · 18/08/2020 08:01

Hi, I’d like to join in the thread for some ideas and support.

Just to remind everyone that there’s a recipe thread that’s a good place to look for ideas and pop in these fab photos. Here’s good too of course. But probs easier to find at a later date if on recipes. Some of these are too good to get lost on here!

Ha ha that’s funny. My DP was the same initially. Considered I’d always considered myself the one with an unhealthy interest in food and he always told me he could take it or leave it/wasn’t bothered. It was interesting just how stressed he was at the beginning of this WOE.

I was finding it pretty easy and fasting for 24 hours a day and he was laying in bed talking about bread and cake whilst gripping the bed covers. I think looking back it was because I’d kicked myself out of my carb addiction months before and he was still riding the wave of his sugar cravings. He’s a lot calmer now and is rarely hungry.

Fantastic loss!! Don’t get annoyed if it slows down xx

Patchworksack · 18/08/2020 10:37

Yay! My DH has hit healthy BMI range. He has another 7kg to get to his goal. I'm down another half a pound (but it counts, right?) with 2.5lb to go to my initial target of 9 stone.
