Strangely after weeks of black coffee and herb teas I treated my self to my much loved tea with milk and it tasted funny and was not such a treat.

I don’t have a answer although I was considering getting my half completed knitting project out. I have definitely been over doing the internet shopping. I’m wondering if it is about changing my mindset from the one which says I deserve a treat because it’s been a good day or a bad day or what ever excuse I come up with at that minute to justify unhealthy eating. For me it’s partly about reminding myself how much better I feel.

PhoenixMama · 20/09/2020 13:55

@MysweetAudrina I find I need to actively choose other ways to treat myself. I've ordered a lot of skincare since starting this and lockdown!) But I'm so used to filling any emotional need with food and I'm slowly learning to sit with that discomfort and all myself what actually the food would give me.

MysweetAudrina · 20/09/2020 14:10

@PhoenixMama if you saw my skincare collection since lockdown started. Sweaty Betty and Neom skincare have definitely benefited from me being on lockdown.

And it's not about distracting myself as I'm not sure that will work. I agree about sitting with the feeling but if the feeling is one of wanting comfort and you have been using a slice of cake or something sugary to get that feeling ( even though it's short lasting with long lasting consequences) I was just wondering whether there were healthier ways of achieving that same feeling of satiety without using food or spending money online. Even today I decided I would listen to some podcasts with a candle burning and wrapped up with the dog in a comfy blanket and I nearly ordered a new floor for my bedroom when I got an email ping to say someone had responded to this post lol so it interrupted me from actually buying it.

nibdedibble · 20/09/2020 14:55

I have so many emotional voids to fill I don’t even know where to begin 😂 To feel I’m looking after myself, I might put the fire on and read - this is one thing that in the mess of family life and worries, I really don’t do enough of.

aceofbase1 · 20/09/2020 15:57

I plan a treat for a Saturday but still keeping in the diet. So I'll make a fake diet version of a takeaway and have some dark choc melted with strawberries or similar after so it feels special and something to look forward to

aceofbase1 · 20/09/2020 15:57

I also allow myself to go up to 1000 calories on. Stupid ah so I have more leeway

aceofbase1 · 20/09/2020 15:57

Saturday not stupid ah BlushHmm

PhoenixMama · 20/09/2020 16:08

@MysweetAudrina By sitting with it I mean asking myself why I think food is the thing that will comfort me, what do I actually need, and not just want. The thing changes a lot for me, right now I'm dealing with loads of loneliness and what I really want is connection and I've taught myself that sugary carbs will quiet that feeling but we all know they don't actually so what can I give myself or do that helps fill the hole. It totally doesn't always work but it has made a big enough difference that I lost 50lbs and kept it off for over a year!

Solongsugar · 21/09/2020 09:28

I feel so much more in control, energetic, who'd have thought on 800 calories ?! I did not feel that way 16lb heavier 7 weeks ago! ( and was 26lb heavier in May). Added to that I'm two pounds under next stone mark, so that's kissed goodbye to that one!

I'd like a two off for end of week 8. Set to get really cold if anyone has warm dinners at 400 cal please. Good luck all for this week.

aceofbase1 · 21/09/2020 09:58

@Solongsugar that is an amazing loss! I'm onto week 5 now and feeling great! Lots of energy, I'm waking up early and not groggy and tired like I used to be. I rarely get headaches anymore when I used to be a very headache prone person.

I am now addicted to cauliflower rice. I'm pretty much eating it twice a day Grin surely though it's fine as just veg!

MysweetAudrina · 21/09/2020 10:30

@Solongsugar wow that is really great weight loss, hope I follow in your footsteps. I'm on week 2 day 3 and finding some days easier than others.

nibdedibble · 21/09/2020 10:40

Annoyed with myself. Got down to 206. Had stressful weekend and have stressful week at work ahead. This morning 208. These (normal) fluctuations irritate me. I’m letting them affect my mood.

I am still over a stone down though, I mustn’t lose sight of that! Maximum veg eating today. Frittata for lunch and greens with beans for dinner.

I wanted to start Monday on more of a high. Everything is annoying though!

PhoenixMama · 21/09/2020 10:53

Well done @Solongsugar great losses!

I'm up 1lb today but I'm happy with that as I know its from the booze on Sat night - should lose it today hopefully!

Still struggling with my back which is really frustrating as it's limiting my exercise for sure, although I am getting an hour long walk in each day which is better than nothing!

Meal plan for the week is set so hopefully I don't go too wrong this week - would love to lose 3lbs this week.

What's everyone's weekly goals?

Solongsugar · 21/09/2020 12:46

Thanks all and just to say, I had my moments believe me! I start with the idea that 4 weeks is no Biggie, then we go again , keep at it.

carbhunter · 21/09/2020 22:22

Hi all, I had a few slip ups at the weekend and am 1lb up today, so I suppose I should be grateful it's not worse.

Back on track today, and hoping to lose another 2 lbs this weeks which would take me to a full stone weight loss. Fingers crossed!

1questionshootout · 22/09/2020 07:05

Allowed myself a little too much leeway at the weekend, and then used the excuse of the increased regulations to have a drink last night. How is that even logical!

OK, back on it properly today.

Solongsugar · 22/09/2020 09:01

Wierd experience with carbs yesterday. Had usual greek yoghurt and berries, then a wholemeal banana muffin, then a white bread ham sandwich. Felt so drowsy then konked. I never ever fall asleep upright unless very unwell. My mood was definitely irritable latter as well. Has anybody else noticed effects?

MysweetAudrina · 22/09/2020 11:30

No change on the scales today but I went for a really long walk last night which I find makes me retain fluid and I had a big poo this morning after weighing so expecting a loss tomorrow. Just had 2 bacon medallions, mushrooms and a fried egg with some finely grated mature cheddar over it so feeling nice and satisfied now. Belly apron definitely much improved and finding I have more space to move during yoga.

nibdedibble · 22/09/2020 11:40

@Solongsugar Eek, those carbs would have done that to me no problem. I was reacting like that to the extent I’d stopped eating cakes or sweets until after dinner, and really avoided white bread. I’ve ditched them all and don’t get that awful, cloying fatigue. (I should say, I was in the early stages of Type2 diabetes though!)

It’s quite motivating, to give something up that is making you feel bad!

nibdedibble · 22/09/2020 11:46

GrinAudrina, I’d weigh myself after that and take the win!!

I’m back in my old jeans, and they’re comfortable. The size 18s only got a couple of months’ wear, might sell them and be done. That’ll feel good.

Is everyone feeling far, far less hungry? I do 16:8, sometimes 17:7 by accident and occasionally 18:6. It’s so weird that hunger is just not a thing. The odd rumble, yes, but nothing else. Strange. I couldn’t have coped a few months ago (except I could, I just didn’t know it). Was always running to the cupboard if a little bit hungry or bored. Amazed how much less I can function on.

carbhunter · 22/09/2020 14:24

I find I am unintentionally fasting nipdedibble as I eat my dinner with the kids about 5:30 and try not to eat anything in the evenings after that as I tend to binge if I start snacking. These days I am also finding im not hungry for breakfast so often wait til lunch to eat. Today I was busy so didn't until 13:45 and barely noticed.
I think 2 meals a day suits me much better and I agree that I feel much more energetic and less sluggish now.

mummymacphee · 22/09/2020 16:41

Hi, I've been reading this thread and finding the chat really helpful so thought I would 'delurk' (unlurk?) and join in!

I started the Fast 800 diet four weeks ago and have lost 17 lbs so far. That sounds good but I lost the first 14 lbs in the first two weeks and my loss has slowed to a trickle since then. I'm sticking to fewer than 800 calls a day, logging everything on MFP, drinking gallons of water and it's just not coming off! I feel quite disheartened as it's not easy to dodge the wine, chocolate and bread that used to be my staple diet!

So, I'll be using this thread to keep me on the straight and narrow and pick up any tips as to how to keep on keeping on!

carbhunter · 22/09/2020 17:43

Hi mummymacphee!
I feel your pain, I have stagnated recently and it doesnt help your motivation to keep going. Someone more knowlegable might be able to explain what is happening as I'm sure I've read about this phenomenon, apparently if you stick with it, there is drop in weight that happens after a period of no movement - just not sure why!
Best of luck, it sounds like you're doing really well!

mummymacphee · 22/09/2020 18:08

Thanks - I hope you're right. I keep thinking that it's not possible to stay the same weight for ever but the scales say differently! Then I remind myself that it took years to put all this weight on so I need to be a bit more patient about losing it.

aceofbase1 · 22/09/2020 18:35

@mummymacphee I was the same lost most of mine in the first two weeks but I have noticed even though the scales aren't moving as fast anymore my clothes feel looser and I'm definitely losing inches
