Ha - yes, there is definitely the vague start of a waist beginning to show! 😁

carbhunter · 22/09/2020 19:35

Yes, it's just hard not to be impatient! I have a goal of another 14 lbs by Christmas, feels like slow going at the moment, am considering exercise to see if that helps. I usually only like walking.

CurseryKinkajoo · 23/09/2020 08:48

@mummymacphee I’m in the same position but sticking with it as clothes are definitely looser:
Start 23/8 - 16:9
Week 1 30/8 - 16:2
Week 2 6/9 - 15:12
Week 3 13/9 - 15:9
Week 4 20/9 - 15:10

I’m weighing each morning and have been between 15:12 and 15:6 since the end of week 2, mainly fluctuating between 15:10 and 15:9.

But I’m reminding myself that overall, I’m a stone down in a month and if average weight loss is 2lb a week, I’m well ahead Smile

AlgonquinBay · 23/09/2020 09:03

Yes weight loss definitely slowing down here too after an amazing start, but I guess that's to be expected, although it would be great to continue losing a stone every 3 weeks.Grin

I'm weighing daily and using the Happy Scale app which gives you a moving average weight. I find this quite helpful as
my weight is going up and down every day and I feel like I keep losing and gaining the same kilo!!

I'm keeping at it however as the overall trend is downwards and I figure if I'm still in a calorie deficit then the weight will come off eventually.

nibdedibble · 23/09/2020 09:30

This is me too - I regularly feel I’m losing and regaining the same couple of pounds but it’s all eventually going in the right direction. I’m being pretty strict with myself and turning down anything carby. I’m trying to get my 10k steps in as well - do any of you manage that? Desk worker from home, it’s hard!

mummymacphee · 23/09/2020 10:03

Thanks all - reassuring to hear I'm not some kind of medical oddity and that a plateau at this stage isn't unusual.

I agree that getting lots of steps is hard at the moment- I'm desk based and WFH too and my only exercise previously was walking to the fridge many times a day! Now I'm not even doing that! I'm trying to get out for 30 mins at the end of the working day, which gets me over my normal 'pour a glass of wine' time too.

nibdedibble · 23/09/2020 10:07

I find a lot of ‘errands’ to run through the day but a) it eats into my work time and distracts me and b) it’s still only a few thousand steps.

Perhaps the reality is that I need to get out of the house at 6am, walk for two hours, wave the kids off to school (they get sorted in the morning by themselves) then start work with a smug face. Smile

mummymacphee · 23/09/2020 10:12

I'd need a little lie down if I'd done all that before 8.00! 😁

carbhunter · 23/09/2020 10:14

Another wfh-er here. It is hard to fit in exercise . My kids are young and still need help in the morning to get sorted for school, evening i am usually out of juice. So really I should be doing it at lunchtimes but I often find an excuse! Need to get stricter with myself!

RR369 · 23/09/2020 12:12

Four weeks in today and I'm down 9lbs 😁 really pleased as that included 11 cheat days out of 28 so I could potentially have been 9lbs heavier if I hadn't gone back on this way of eating!!
I really recommend a daily walk, as fast as you can for an hour. Great for burning some extra calories but also really improving my frame of mind/mental health.
Keep going everyone, your posts keep me motivated 🤗

AlgonquinBay · 23/09/2020 12:39

Yes it's crazy how little you move when wfh! Who knew how much those trips to the printer added up!

I have been doing YouTube workouts over lockdown and have grown to really enjoy them. I started out just doing the 10-15 minute ones on Popsugar and I have managed to stick with it and do up to an hour now. I try to squeeze them into lunchtimes 3 times a week if I can and it's great for lifting your mood in the day and giving a little energy boost.

However I haven't found it effective at helping weight loss and didn't lose any weight by working out alone. Although now I have lost some of the fat, I can see that I have toned up.

MysweetAudrina · 23/09/2020 13:47

Another one wfh with kids to get out in the morning. Luckily I had an established yoga practice before lockdown and I used to leave the house at 6am and park in work and walk to my yoga studio where I would do a class from 7-8. Now my yoga studio has moved on line so I just fall out of bed at 6.50am and go into my office/yoga studio/spare room for my class and then help kids and shower and start work. Not great for weight loss but brilliant in terms of mental health, strength and toning.

nibdedibble · 23/09/2020 15:51

I guess we are most of us wfh now... Sad Though it’s my choice anyway but yeah, missing out on the commute and the lunch run etc is a killer.

I’m just about to do a video workout, this and walking are all we’ve got right now - could be worse!! When lockdown started in March I was so down and stressed, I missed the opportunity to use online resources and I didn’t even get out of the house most days. I’ve lost that particular stone but am so much better equipped now to get rid of the others!

MysweetAudrina · 23/09/2020 19:22

I have the fast800 recipe book cottage pie with swede mash in the oven so if it tastes good I will put up the recipe later.

MysweetAudrina · 23/09/2020 21:00

So it was actually really lovely and dh is gone back for seconds and he is a spud man.

I used a 500g pack of 5% fat minced beef and browned that with a diced onion and 2 medium carrots in some olive oil for about 10 mins.

Then added a beef stock cube, 500ml of water, 2 squeezes of tomato purée, a few dashes of Worcester sauce and a teaspoon of dried mixed herbs and seasoned well. Cooked loosely covered for 20 mins. frozen peas added for last minute.

Chopped and boiled the swede/turnip and when cooked, mashed it smoothly and mixed through a bit of grated Red Leicester and seasoned it and layered the turnip mix over the mince and left it in the oven for 20 mins on 180.

Book says that kcal per serving are 354, protein 27g, fat 16g, fibre 10, carbs 21. 5 servings.

Recipe calls for 10% fat mince and doesn't include the cheese in the above figures so I adjusted accordingly.

mummymacphee · 23/09/2020 22:29

Sounds lovely - and good now the weather is getting colder and salads are not quite as appealing!

Cantteach · 24/09/2020 07:41

I appear to be doing a great job of maintaining, unfortunately I'm at least 4st off where I want to maintain! I totally went off plan during weekend away and was fine with that. Not quite sure what happened last weekend but old bad habits reappeared with pizza, biscuits and alcohol Shock. I have got back on plan in between weekends and now weigh what I did 2 weeks ago. I absolutely must stick to plan this weekend or I'm never going to make any more progress. I've lost 17lb since mid August, would like to lose the same again by Christmas.

Can't remember who said about emotional eating but right now I make sure I have blueberries available for snacking as I can mindlessly eat 1/2 at a time until the bowl is empty and no harm done and before I snack I try and remind myself what my aims are and how this will help.

1questionshootout · 24/09/2020 08:06

Yes my DH has been enviously eyeing up my dishes the past few weeks, and asked if he could be included. So last night we had Thai prawn curry, the previous night ratatouille with ahlloumi, both from the F800 recipe book, and both of which he absolutely loved. And told me this morning he feels much better and brighter.

I'm currently toasting pine nuts for my crab and courgette salad for lunch, but can't think what to cook tonight. I have leftover cornbread that DH had with the ratatouille, I wont be eating it but I'd like to make something that he could eat to use it up. Something with croutons or breadcrums?

Jollyholibobs · 24/09/2020 08:06

6 weeks of this WOE for me today. Weight loss so far 14.8lbs. Includes a week away on holiday where I gained back 2.8lbs. The best thing is how well I feel on low carb. I still have 8-10lbs to lose but I have no desire to return to my previous heavy reliance on pasta, bread and rice. Plan to just up my beans and lentils plus a bit of quinoa when I get to maintenance.

I am back doing PT sessions in the gym. Much more challenging than the on line versions which I did not properly engage with. Have lost strength and fitness whilst I ate my way through lock down but putting that behind me and enjoying getting stronger and fitter.

mummymacphee · 24/09/2020 09:26

cantteach I am following the same route as you - started in mid August, quickly lost 14 lbs in the first two weeks and have now lost another 3.5lbs in the three weeks since. I am feeling a lot better and I'm determined to stick at it but it's a bit demoralising when the scales are not moving. Still, reading all these posts is encouraging so onwards (and downwards) we go! 😁

Jollyholibobs · 24/09/2020 13:43

A couple of things that I have focussed on when plateauing which may help others. Focus on portion control. Some days I get lazy about weighing and tell myself I know what 30g of whatever looks like. Other days I weigh it and am surprised how out I was.
The other thing is 16:8 using the Fastic add without any of the paid for features.

But these plateaus just seem to be inevitable for all of us. I’ve tried to take a view on the overall loss averaged over the period rather than a few days which feel stuck. Also the overall health benefits and how much better I feel helps to stay motivated.

1questionshootout · 24/09/2020 17:26

Treating myself to a glass of wine - Kylie's new music vid, "Magic" is released tonight at 7, and my daughter is one of the backing dancers!

We need a smilie, don't we?

MysweetAudrina · 24/09/2020 18:31

@1questionshootout wow that's very exciting, you must be very proud, definitely worth having a glass to toast her success.

I'm looking at making a bacon and brie frittata as its takeaway night in my house and I had a stressful day at work and am off tomorrow so trying to stay strong so I see that scale move in the right direction tomorrow.

1questionshootout · 24/09/2020 18:53

Sounds delicious, enjoy!

ThePawtriarchy · 24/09/2020 18:54

@mummymacphee I’m very similar. I’ve somehow put on two pounds when I’d already plateaued for two weeks and I haven’t had any fun whatsoever to account for it. I’m hanging in by the skin of my teeth as it’s quite a brutal diet for this to happen!
